Yeah, have to agree that this blazer needs serious help. Lots of heavier guys look great in well-fitting blazers/suits.
Ugh. I was going to do him without a shirt in my Contest entry just because I thought it would be fun.
Now it seems the greater challenge is to make him look good with clothing that actually fits?
Okay, that's my impossible quest for the next time I render Fred, I think.
Ah, at last... a good use for Fred.
Officer of the Centauri Republic (Babylon 5)
I haven't watched Babylon 5 since, like, season 3 was on the air, but I remember it being pretty good.
It's a good series, and I guess HBO spent money to upgrade the visuals, but I don't have HBO Max... so dunno. I'd want to watch that version, but I'm not spending money on another streaming service.
Once more, for the 2 or 3 other Babylon 5 fans out there (LOL).
Better shot of the hair, which uses a unifying shader (UHT Hair shaders for Iray), Georgie Hair & Brows for G8M, plus Daz's Strand-Based Hair.
(See 3Diva's mini-tytorial here... https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/335676/strand-based-hair-mini-tutorial/p1 )
The cloth sim on the sleeves of the naval uniform is poo, so I'll need to change that.
I can't stop rendering Fred as a Centauri.
I should mess with the hair some more. I haven't used the SBH much, so I am getting used to the quirks. ("Apply Transformation"? *Mando sigh*)
Aaaand, one more Centauri Fred.
double post
I love these B5 images! :)
Thanks! Once I put the Naval uniform on him, it made perfect sense with Fred having the right look/body type for Centauri.
Your image (Leonard's skin? Torment?) also is really neat, and quite helpful since I know a lot of people wanted to see Fred with a skin texture set from the Torment line.
Also, I was thinking of tentacles if only because Centauri anatomical ele... ehhhh, nevermind :)
Yes, Centauri 'tentacles', the best way to cheat at cards. ;)
Thanks. It's Neferata's skin. I love her!
Making his way from late night talk shows to blockbuster war movies.
Fred & Floyd. The Fighting Furies.
By Michael Bay.
Fred... is dead. DOA.
They gave us only 3 days to buy the first bundle before the promotion was removed,
and only 3 days to buy the second bundle...
I still have the orange banner to save 20% off Fred 8.1 and the Fred 8.1 Add-Ons that expires at 12 AM on 5/30...
but both of the Fred bundle promotions were removed on 5/29???
The Fred Promo is gone? That was quite fast. Again, they ought to tell us MORE information about when things expire. The entire secrecy practice is terrible... I think I said that on my survey.
...
Once more with Fred as a Centauri officer from Babylon 5, enjoying the weekend.
Nice job!
Thanks! I have to say, I really do like that Naval Uniform. I wish there were more from the Regency/Napoleonic period, especially military-style uniforms. (The Naval Uniform isn't specific to Regency, of course, but it would fit a Regency scene.)
In Genesis 8, I think there's also the Folklore piece, which you also worked on... https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-folklore-outfit-for-genesis-8-males
...which could fit a Napoleonic Hussar or maybe a Cuirassier of the period.
Not so much after that...
Uniforms are hard to do, of course, but the non-specific nature of the Naval Uniform makes it work for a lot more things (like the Centauri from Babylon 5). I hope Daz commissions more like this.
Sade did a great job with the textures :) the hardest part with military style uniforms is keeping it authentic, otherwise people will let you know loud and clear that you got it wrong lol
Love the Centauri spin on Fred :)
Glad you like the Centauri Fred :) I was randomly picking outfits, and I clicked on the Naval Uniform. It just made too much sense to go with a Centauri Fred :)
That Naval Uniform is a good approach to uniforms, I think. It doesn't have all the specific details, but it feels close enough. I didn't jump on Valentino when he first came out, but I'm glad I picked up the bundle later.
And the uniform holds up well to Fred's girth. Not always true with the bigger shapes.
This is one area where this generation of dForce outfits does really well. The buttons, the cloth panels on the front, the shoulder bits... they don't distort under his shape. I'm not always a fan of dForce clothes, but I think the approach helps with "edge cases" like Fred's body type..
And yes, the textures are very good! I can fit a few nationalities into the colors if I wanted to, but for now, it's a great uniform for the Centauri Republic :)
Fred 8.1 contest entry complete...
I probably frakked myself with this one because of the obvious reference to other media.
(And I mean, "Among Us".)
I haven't touched either the talk show set or AprilYSH's hair from that bundle, TBH. I usually expect AprilYSH and Fugazi/Ironman products to be good, but there's always variance...
(I just don't have that much interest in talk shows, although I'll probably get a ton of use out of the furniture from the talk show set.)
Fred is worth it if you have a use for an overweight guy. He's got an excellent shape for that. You'll hit some clothing fit issues because it's such a nonstandard shape, though, so more dForce-style clothing is probably better than conformers (that tend to have more distortion over nonstandard shapes).
I was pleasantly surprised. You can check out two of my renders here with the hair, one at 60%Fred https://www.daz3d.com/gallery/user/6445791921045504 and on the page before here there’s also one at 50% https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/496971/right-fred-thread-the-fred-8-1-virtual-talk-show-canned-applause/p3 and I think he looks great less chubby and dialed down. I was really impressed with his skin and the clothes look fine if you dial him down. I haven’t used the talk show set yet.
