So out of curiousity, is the poison love outfit supposed to not come with any materials?

There's a texture set with really good textures. There's even a set of snakeskin leather for boots and a skirt. Other leathers are black, red, and brown and the black is different than the default skin. Jackets come in shiney black leather, older black leather, and a green casual spring jacket

    https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-poison-love-outfit-textures

I know about texture addons, but from my experience there's usually at least 1 material option included in the main product.

The materials should be included. They are listed in the product page. But, yes, they are missing for me too. Installed via DIM.

I like the Cleo mix a lot.

Thanks :) The others got more up-doots so far in the gallery, not that it matters as the gallery is a weird judge of things... but I do like this blend as well.

Okay, one more for the heck of it.

Complaint: Makeups do not come with no-brow option, so every overlay has the eyebrow painted on. (EDIT) I can fix this by hand, but kind of dumb that I have to do this.

EDIT2: Okay, Kiko's Makeup Weight map is MUCH less aggressive than prior 8.1 makeup weight maps, which tend to paint the entire facial region as "White" (pass-through from the Makeup channel). Kiko's weight map for makeup is much more limited, so hopefully that means the brows won't actually show up in an Iray render even if they show up in a Filament viewport.

Plastic skin... the SSS map looks like a lighter/more white version of the Diffuse map? (Like, literally the Diffuse map with the brightness turned up.) So, maybe not a lot of tonal variance coming through the Translucency channel.

I'm going to re-do the SSS maps for myself and see if that gives more drama.

Reading the product pages, there were supposed to be 6 make-up options without eyebrows. I am also not seeing the no brow make-up options upon download in Smart Content, under Genesis 8 Female characters and takes a long time to become available (I have tooooo many characters.)

I double-checked and the no brow make-ups options are not in My DAZ 3D Content.

Yeah, I think they will say that the Makeups do not have the eyebrows because the Makeup Overlay map doesn't extend White (i.e. overlay turned on) to the eyebrows.

The problem is that the Makeup maps are based on the Eyebrow face.

The eyebrows are rather low on Kiko, and some of the makeup extends up to the brow region... I guess I'll have to do a tight render of the face, but I think there's bleedthrough at the bottom of the eyebrows for some of the options.

I have it now and see what you mean. Somethings come with no textures added but I don't see any default textures to add

So, here's what I think is eyebrow bleedthrough for the no-brow option when combined with Makeup 04 (which I like).

You can interpret it as simply a shadow (I have a planar mesh light in line with the camera to kill shadows, but whatevs. I mess stuff up all the time), but I think it's the bottom of the eyebrow, which is included on the Makeup map. The overlay is good at killing most of the eyebrow on the makeup map, but not all because the makeup extends to the bottom of the brow... so it's imperfect there.

Technically, a "Metgitsune." A "Kitsune' is a male fox.

    ..Joe

What is the term for a female Nogitsune (female wild fox)?  I have no idea.

  • Thanks! I bought her earlier. Can't wait to go play with that tail (that sounds so naughty, lol).

Does the tail come with easy pose control dials, or just bones? Still on the fence, but she is sooooo cute.

it does include easy pose controls

that picture shows that her eyelashes aren't working right either... happens when its not lined up right with the new g8.1 lashes UV map and lashes get split /float/divided the wrong way.

I hadn't noticed until you pointed out the eyelashes. Now my eyes feel like one of those little ones have fallen on the edge and are rubbing on my eye.

The eyebrow shadow/ghost, could it hide under fibermesh brows?

Expect we will be seeing some updates to her in the next few days.

All these issues! Such a shame, because this is easily the most excited I've been for a Daz Original character in a while. Heres hoping everything gets fixed.

  • Yeah... I think, on balance, I like Kiko quite a bit. With pretty girl figures, I have quite a bit more tolerance than other figures.

    laugh

She's a good shape, and she mixes well with others in the 8/8.1 universe. The textures could have used more work as far as cleaning up the details.

It's one thing when you get bad textures or a bad shape that you can't work with. I think the shape is very nice, and the textures are good, but the attention to detail isn't fully there.

I think the eyebrow in the textures can generally blend in with larger fibermesh brows. You'll want the thicker and/or longer fibermesh, I hink.
If you want really thin, plucked brows? Then you might notice a double shadow. It is relatively faint, but it's there. (You never know what will catch the light sometimes.)

I can fix just about everything if it doesn't cross a seam line, though. (I should be able to clean up the makeup by hand.) I just don't have the software to fix things that cross seams in most cases.

(I didn't really notice the eyelashes, either. I rarely do close up head shots, so I don't think I would have noticed the way the lashes are sunk into the eyelids like that.)

  • Okay, one more. I do like Kiko, but I work around the perceived flaws.

This is 65% Kiko, 35% Cleopatra again, plus dial spins. The head was smol, so I used that dial from zev0's growing up to redistribute the ratio between head size and body size (not the growing up morph, but the proportions adjustment dial).

I used Makeup 4 (maybe my favorite one for Kiko due to the pink on the nose) withi the No-Brow option, which (As above) has a little shadow from the eyebrow on the makeup texture bleeding through via the overlay map. I used the fibermesh brow from Mousso's Angel HD, which mostly covers the brow region for Kiko. Close enough, anyway.

There's also a custom No-brow face diffuse here, and customized SSS maps for how I like them. I feel pretty comfortable with the PBR shader now, so I play with the maps a little.

(IMO, worth trying to learn this stuff if you haven't monkeyed around with the PBR. I do like it better if only because I need to customize a lot to transition Iray Uber skins to PBR, which then effectively normalizes the skins to my setup.)

This is Kiko with Jada dialed in. I used textures by Maddelirium because I couldnt get the PBR textures to not look like plastic.

Even with J Cade's .duf applied, I can't get a render of Kiko with the fur applied. Watching my system monitor while the render starts, I see my RAM (not VRAM) get filled and then Daz Studio crashes. Perhaps its time to buy some more GBs. I really wanna use this character with the fur!

I guess I will hold off on getting Kiko for now, though I was tempted with the store credit. I will probably just wait until I can get a better gpu.

I finally decided to give up on the fur for now (I think I need more RAM). Still adore the character!

    Thank you!

The headpiece comes from "dforce Priestess of the Sun for Genesis 8 Females" by SWTrium, over at renderosity (they're also a PA here). The suit is the Abrion Combat Suit by benalive (also rendo).

Can anyone with the https://www.daz3d.com/swords-and-guns-poses-for-kiko-81 tell me if they are hierarchical please, do they include the tail poses? I get from the description that they are not prop specific, and the description doesn't mention it, but with them being advertised for Kiko 8.1 I am wondering if they are.

Just out of curiosity, why did they include a purple/blue tail as default and no matching ear fur? Is this one of the textures that's missing?  Also, I'm trying to put a clothing product on her that's designed for G3F and G8F and it's not auto-fitting.  It's Aeon Soul's The Legend.  I thought the G8.1 characters could use all Genesis 8 products except expressions.

You wont get an autofit dialog for g8.1F.  If for some reason its not acting right you can change the Scene ID  but it should work; I just applies to default g8.1f and worked fine for me.

No, I knew I wouldn't get an autofit dialog for G8F but it doesn't fit Kiko.  I tried the G3F version, it did bring the autofit dialog and actually did fit Kiko when it was done.  Very weird...I wonder if the Kiko morph is extreme enough that that it got confused.

I just gave it a shot, it seems to autofit fine (the helmet even conforms to the fox ears)

I used the Legend !Full Armor. Have you tried rebooting/reinstalling things?

Here's my take on Kiko.  I replaced her skin with Mousso's Fan Ling and did custom texture on the Ktarya Hair.  And just for grins, because I'm not real fond of Kota, I decided to morph Kiko into a male Kitsune. He's got Lee 8's skin.  And now, I get to see what trouble they can get into... laugh

    @sandmanmax boy kiko is handsome!

@Daventaki wow the shimmer on Kiko's tail in that render is really stunning surprise

Over the weekend I got myself two new 16GB ram chips, so I'm going from 16GB to 48GB! I've been doing test renders with Kiko +fur since and have had no crashing. Watching usage, I see RAM use is at 32GB while rendering Kiko with fur. I have two more ram slots... maybe I should just go ahead and get another 32GB

Sorry to bump an old thread (and possibly asking an odd, old, and somewhat stupid question), but does Kiko really need those three products for her to work?: https://www.daz3d.com/kiko-81

    Tia for Kiko 8.1: https://www.daz3d.com/tia-for-kiko-81

Alternative Shapes for Kiko 8.1: daz3d.com/alternative-shapes-for-kiko-81

Foxfire Poses for Kiko 8.1 and Genesis 8.1 Females: https://www.daz3d.com/foxfire-poses-for-kiko-81-and-genesis-81-females

Kota doesn't need anything else to work, why is Kiko different?
