For people talking about Internet outages:

...interesting haven't experienced any issues on other sites through the weekend and since, only the forums here (which is likely an internal server matter).

Man, that sucks - at least there was no escape of magic smoke..

In other news - from The Register - truckload of Nvidia RTZ 30 series stolen.

"US-based Nvidia partner EVGA has reported that a shipment of GPUs it was sending to a distribution centre has been stolen from a truck.A forum post by EVGA product manager Jacob Freeman states
“PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that on October 29, 2021, a shipment of EVGA GeForce RTX 30-Series Graphics Cards was stolen from a truck en route from San Francisco to our Southern California distribution center.”“
These graphics cards are in high demand and each has an estimated retail value starting at $329.99 up to $1959.99 MSRP.Which probably explains the motivation for the crime – either someone hopes to resell them or a crypto-miner has just built a cut-price rig. Freeman’s post doesn’t say how many GPUs were stolen, or if the truck was carrying anything else. He did, however, warn that buying stolen property is a crime, as is “concealing selling or withholding” purloined goods. He then appears to lay a trap of sorts by pointing out that attempts to register products that aren’t stolen will succeed on this page which requires registration. Crooks are probably smart enough to use fake details when registering. Are they also smart enough to use a VPN and/or Tor to hide their tracks? EVGA has created the email address stopRTX30theft@evga.com in an attempt to find the culprits."

...bad enough we have to deal with bots an unscrupulous resellers, now this.   Gald I got my 3060 when I did.

Complaint:  Aughhhh.... My web browser (GoogleChrome) no longer displays  my bookmarks bar.  Nor can I find anyway to turn it back on.  WTF!!!frown

    Yes, I've rebooted.  No cigar.sad

Click on the three small dots in upper right corner.  In the drop down menu hover on Bookmarks and be sure 'Show bookmarks bar' is checked in the secondary menu.

Yeah, I know.  But there was no option to "Show bookmarks bar".  indecision

The problem went away after I re-authorized GoogleChrome to "Synchronize" my personal data again.  Happy camper now.yes

Weird way to handle that.  I would have thought that the bookmarks would appear from a locally retained copy, even if you were not "Synchronized".  Guess not.surprise

Odd. There is om mine. When I hover or click on 'Bookmarks' it brings up a second menu includes a 'Show Bookmarks Bar' line

Weird. There was a fantasy coin/currency collection here on DAZ, fairly recent'ish and not an old product, and I don't see it in my DAZ Library, in my Wishlist, in my Purchased Products...  I wonder if it got poofed or something

  • Not terribly recent https://www.daz3d.com/ancient-coins

This is more recent, but not just coins https://www.daz3d.com/ancient-treasure

I got that second one on my wishlist, didn't know about the first one.  Thanks!
Still, seems the product might have got taken down or something, since I can't find it anywhere. It was called "Fantasy Currency" or something, and I remember the coins and stuff,  some oval shapes and whatnot... Shame :(  Was coming over to buy it for a scene I had in mind too

    Thank you ;A;
I was looking all over and couldn't find it;  wasn't even in my wishlist and I *know* I wishlisted it at some point.

*Edit*  Sheesh, no wonder - says I've already purchased it.  Okay so I missed it in my Products page (Wedged between "Monsters in my Cupboard" and "Mythical Dragon for Dragon 3"),  but it wasn't showing up in D|S at all... Not in Smart Content anyway, finally tracked it down in My Library.

I feel quite silly now, but thanks for all the help both of you <3

    Non-non-complaint:

The good news:  Yay!  baby-bear isn't quite dead yet.  He survived a re-transplant of his original (AMD: "Ryzen5-1400") brain and re-installation of his original Gigabyte: "GT-1030" graphics card and has regained consciousness and is talking lucidly.  It's alive.  It's ALIVE!  Mwa-ha-ha.devil

So, that tells me that the motherboard (Asus: "TUF Gaming B450M-Plus-II") is OK, as are all the original parts & pieces.yes  Also noted that the memory speed had been set back to "normal" 2133MHz, as I'd assumed but hadn't checked.

The bad news: The problem is now confirmed to be either a compatability issue or a damaged new Ryzen5-5600G CPU.  (*sigh*)  Not sure what I can do about compatability.  I've already updated the Motherboard's BIOS (I checked again, and yes it is the latest (#3211) and yes, I did see the message at the end of the BIOS installation that said "Successful".  I looked but could find no BIOS settings that would enable the onboard graphics ports that I intended to use with the Ryzen 5600G instead of the GT-1030 graphics card.  However, I even tried booting the 5600G using the GT-1030 for output, and nothing, zip, nada on the screen.  Although I get a single "beep" from my motherboard speaker gizmo thingie which I don't believe I got when trying to boot to the 5600G when not using the GT-1030 card.  Hmmm...indecision

When updating a BIOS are they all independent full updates or are some of them only patches?  I've always assumed they were full updates which are tricky enough to install without the complication of partial updates to the wrong base version.

NOTE-1:  I had updated this motherboard previously.  It came with BIOS #3002, I updated to #3202 when I got the board a few months ago.  I skipped update #3205 and went straight to #3211 before swapping out my CPU.

NOTE-2:  The Asus TUF Gaming B450M-Plus-II BIOS page is here: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards-Components/Motherboards/TUF-Gaming/TUF-GAMING-B450M-PLUS-II/HelpDesk_BIOS/

I looked in the pantry for something to eat but was asked why I was looking in the pantry.  I still don't know what I can have for lunch.

  • The saga of the comatose baby-bear:  TLDW. sad

Summary: Sending my Ryzen5-5600G to a local 'puter shop to test it. (*sigh*) indecision

...yeah as i mentioned, having a similar issue with getting the 3060 I ordered to work with my system. I have someone on the Nvidia forums helping me through this but so far no success. Turns out my board has the proper BIOS version needed and all I had to do was enable ACPI support and download Nvidia driver 472.39 which was updated for W7 systems (I wouldn't have been able to install it if there was an OS conflict) but still no success as the only graphics signal I am getting is the basic VGA one.

When I reinstall the Titan-X, everything is fine again.

GPU-Z indicates the card is being recognised and lists all the specs save for VRAM and current driver, so some piece is still missing.  Meanwhile, the fans on the card spin up during the boot process, but then stop a few moments afterwards so not sure if it's the card or the system.  Will take it to a tech shop tomorrow to have it tested.to make sure and explain my situation.

So, you are getting into Windows, but only in VGA mode?

What's the exact name of your motherboard?

I wouldn't be too worried about the fans, if the card is not hot enough, they don't spin (at least on my 2070 Super they don't)

...yes the system boots up fine but only one of the two displays comes up.

The driver description mentions it's only for W10 and W 11 but again it installed on my system without a hitch and is listed in Nvidia Control Panel/Help/System Information.  When the 3060 is installed, I cannot access the Nvidia Control Panel and GPU-Z lists the device name as  "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" instead of "RTX  3060".

    Motherboard is an ASUS P6T

The card is properly seated in the slot and power connection from the PSU is solid.

Oh I love how the Wyvern 2.0  stars on some of the coins in the Fantasy currency textures!  Is just a slight shame they're limited to a certain kind and the Gold Coin replaces it with a cannon,  but not terribly hard to change the color in Photoshop.  Also spy the classic old Hydra on one of the others :D

Condolences on your loss... I really wish there was more to say that might make you feel better, but I know that's usually not possible.

Be well and hold on to the good memories you have.

  • Thanks Carrie and McGyver. I am more a dog lover than a cat lover; but the cat has been a member of our family for 16 years. My wife was the one who was particularly attached to the cat ever since the cat was a flea infested bedraggled kitten who was only a few days old and followed my grandkids home.

I'm so very sorry for the loss. We lost our cat who was 2 a month ago due to FIP. I know how hard it is.

thanks for the advice.  I can download Liu today.  It seems that Daz's servers are still having issues lately.

Edit: I cannot extract the files from Summer Edition Liu today.  Maybe I should try using Daz Install Manager instead.  I'm going to contact customer support if I can't download Liu.  I guess Liu's zip file became corrupted somehow.  I can unzip other zip files without any issue.
