...running with Nvidia driver 451.48 (which was the revised driver for 4.15.02) and it works fine with the Titan-X though Nvidia gimped older cards with the introduction of RTX. Basically they sacrificed VRAM (about 25 - 30%) for the speed boost, so I effectively have a Quadro 5000M (8 GB) but without the advantages of the Quadro series. This is why I was looking at the 3060 as wwith the newer drivers I'd get the full VRAM (save for the little bit W7 takes), it's specs are very similar, and the price (evne at 409$) could not be beat given what I see them going for on eBay and various retail outlets.. .
The 4.12.0.33 Beta was the first version of Daz to support RTX (which required driver 430.86 the first Nvidia driver to support RTX cards) in late July of 2019.
As to the using delete key, already tried that and I still only got the Windows Boot menu. The function key to access teh mai BIOS varies with the motherboard brand and BIOS provider.
The i7-5820K has a TDP of 140 w, so what sort of cooling are you using on that (the Xeon 5660 I have has a TDP fo 95 w)? The MSI X99A SLI Plus is a LGA2011-3 board which are hard to come by these days (most I've seen are either used, refurbished, or ship form China, the latter which I consider questionable due to the risk of inferior "knockoffs"[which have even occurred through retailers like Newegg and Amazon).
If I had the finances I would consider an "interim" upgrade to get an MB with PCIe 3.0, UEFI BIOS, and just stay with W7 rather than look to jump immediately to W11. Unfortunately I'd still need to replace the MB and CPU for the Windows 11 upgrade later which would mean more expense in the long run.
Been an exasperating morning and afternoon with the Daz forms today, getting multiple bad gateway errors just about every time I try to do anything. Been writing all my posts in MS Word as a precaution.
I am sleepy so good night!
I think this is the month that people in my parts of the woods celebrate Thanksgiving which next month contains Christmas.
December is also the sixth anniversary of when my grandmother left this planet.
but December is when my mum was born. (I got birthday gifts for her, but still need something for Christmas gifts?)
How long does it take a DNS change to get the domain pointed to the right direction?
I think it could take up to two days to propigate across the globe.
Dana
i setup two test domain that points to a parked pages. My ISP's DNS servers took two hours to update its ip address so that I could load one parked page. I couldn't access the other parked domain until the next morning.
I just did it recently and it took about 4 hours
Well, I didn't say it would take two days, just that it could take up to two days! It varies depending on a bunch of conditions.
Dana
While eating my dinner, I thought of something to look up and now I forgot what it was.
take a look at Fastgrab or free products in the Daz Store?
And which decade you take your technology experience from.
Where weekend go? Ugh, goes too fast, now gotta go back to stupid work tomorrow. Stupid adult stuff ruins everything. EVERYTHING!
...agreed.
Changed my hosting provider just a couple years ago...took more than a full day to propigate.
Dana
...been a nightmarish day as the forums keep crashing with bad gateway errors almost constantly I've lost count of how many have occurred today, it's been that bad. I've also had drafts left behind after I submitted a post.
Is it Monday?
I've gotten a few of those, too! I don't wait around trying over and over, though. If it doesn't fix itself after the second try, I leave it for a few hours and usually it's OK by then.
Dana
It's been a tough two years.
I got some funds today! Now trying to get to Dollar tree and maybe Walmart or Food Lion?
There are a lot of factors that can affect DNS propagation speeds, ISP and DNS registrar settings, most notably TTL (Time to Live) setting on each DNS records. An ISP that caches DBS records instead of doing a fresh pull for each lookup can speed up browsing, but slow down DNS propagation. Some ISPs ignore TTL settings and only update their cached records every two to three days. Changing name servers can slow things down as well. The DNS change request to the domain registry has to be updated on the root zone records. Most registrars update their zones in a timelymanner , but some can take several hours or even days. ISP connectivity speeds and routing can also affect things. we wont even talk about BGP misconfigurations :)
It should only take a few hours at best to see a DNS record be propagated, but it can take up to 72 hours. Witness the following from the IETF DNS RFC 1537 on TTL values:
Fortunately, this is one virus that our computers didn't catch.

Ordered myself another pair of memory sticks for my desktop. I went for the same manufacturer and type as the ones I originally had, though the exact specific model is just a bit different (Newer edition I guess, and renamed. But more or less the same thing and the MHz are pretty much the same as well.)
So I'll have 64GB RAM when this is in whoo, twice as much as before.
forums have been slow for me during the past few days too. Today, I couldn't access the forum until now - after midnight.
I'm trying to find the best ambiance YouTube video to listen to while writing and doing school work. So far, no luck on finding the right one for what I want?

Complaint: Arghhh... I've killed baby-bear!
I decided to install my spiffy-new Ryzen5-5600G and now it doesn't post!
Yes, I turned off XMP before I swapped CPUs
Yes, I was careful about placement, force, and compatability of the new CPU.
Yes, I downloaded and sucessfully installed the latest BIOS before I swapped the CPUs.
Yes, I've reset the BIOS by removing/waiting/replacing the coin-battery, after the first boot failure.
There's still a few things I can try but I'm so bummed out that I've let this system sit for about 48 hours now, with it's pants down, and it guts showing. Un-wheee...
Man, that sucks - at least there was no escape of magic smoke..
In other news - from The Register - truckload of Nvidia RTZ 30 series stolen.
"US-based Nvidia partner EVGA has reported that a shipment of GPUs it was sending to a distribution centre has been stolen from a truck.A forum post by EVGA product manager Jacob Freeman states
“PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that on October 29, 2021, a shipment of EVGA GeForce RTX 30-Series Graphics Cards was stolen from a truck en route from San Francisco to our Southern California distribution center.”“
These graphics cards are in high demand and each has an estimated retail value starting at $329.99 up to $1959.99 MSRP.Which probably explains the motivation for the crime – either someone hopes to resell them or a crypto-miner has just built a cut-price rig. Freeman’s post doesn’t say how many GPUs were stolen, or if the truck was carrying anything else. He did, however, warn that buying stolen property is a crime, as is “concealing selling or withholding” purloined goods. He then appears to lay a trap of sorts by pointing out that attempts to register products that aren’t stolen will succeed on this page which requires registration. Crooks are probably smart enough to use fake details when registering. Are they also smart enough to use a VPN and/or Tor to hide their tracks? EVGA has created the email address stopRTX30theft@evga.com in an attempt to find the culprits."
Complaint: Aughhhh.... My web browser (GoogleChrome) no longer displays my bookmarks bar. Nor can I find anyway to turn it back on. WTF!!!
Yes, I've rebooted. No cigar.
Click on the three small dots in upper right corner. In the drop down menu hover on Bookmarks and be sure 'Show bookmarks bar' is checked in the secondary menu.
Yeah, I know. But there was no option to "Show bookmarks bar".
The problem went away after I re-authorized GoogleChrome to "Synchronize" my personal data again. Happy camper now.
Weird way to handle that. I would have thought that the bookmarks would appear from a locally retained copy, even if you were not "Synchronized". Guess not.
