As it approaches nine pm my time, I feel like I don't want to do anything.  I think as it approaches midnight, the more my desire to sleep will attack me.  I want to set up limits on this but I forgot how.  ?????  I think I need to get ready for bed soon.

On top of all that, this weekend there is going to be a very visible display of the Aurora Borealis, but of course it's going to be cloudy so it won't be visible here...

But otherwise it's going to be pretty visible as far south as North Carolina and probably as far west as Nevada... its strong enough that NOAA is issuing a G3 Geomagnetic Storm warning...

Primary Areas of Impacts: Polewards of 50° geomagnetic latitude.

    POSSIBLE EFFECTS:

Power Systems: Voltage irregularities; false alarms on some protection devices.

Spacecraft: Surface charging; orientation problems; increased drag on low earth orbiters.

Radio & Navigation: Intermittent HF propagation fades. GNSS problems (loss-of-lock and increased range errors)

Other: Aurora may be visible as low as Pennsylvania to Iowa to Oregon. Super Zombieism in some species of recently deceased rodents and squirrels.

    ...I can see it now:

"News Flash!  Student from an exclusive private academy in Salem Centre New York rumoured to have acquired 'unusual abilities' while aboard a Blue Origin fight during the solar storm that other passengers claim she used to save the capsule.  Witnesses on the ground report  having seen what briefly appeared to resemble a mythical fiery birdlike aura that surrounded the spacecraft before it began it's descent. After landing the young woman was hustled off in an unmarked van to an undisclosed location.  News 8 will keep you posted on any further developments.

Meanwhile world descends into in chaos when all social media sites and Netflix suddenly go offline.  More at eleven. tonight

ETA: Didn't realise there were more posts on another page so "post quoted" McGyver's post for cotext purposes.

You and me both. It would be nice to get more than 4 hours of sleep a night.

I have not posted in a while. This Thread decided I was dead and no longer sent me any notifications for 49 new entries. I hate to bump a thread, but apparently the programmers for the Forums have made it necessary.

    Non-complaint:  Yay, my new CPU arrives tommorow.  A bran'-spankin'-new 6-core, 12 thread, AMD "Ryzen5-5600G" w/graphics to replace the first-generation, long-in-the-tooth 4-core, 8 thread, "Ryzen5-1400" wo/graphics living in my "baby-bear" computer.  Wheee... new toys!yes

Complaint:  Unfortunately, there is no obvious, immediately visible increase in the computer's IF (Impress Factor).  It's like replacing the engine of a car.  Unless you open the hood It looks exactly the same as it did before.frown

Lights, gotta add more colored lights.  Lights generate lots of OA&IF (Ooh, Ahhs, and Impress Factor)enlightened

I have also recently upgraded my computer.  It was forced on me.  My monitor was dead.  It was a slow death...took months.  It would take 10 minutes to wake up when I booted up.  Then 15.  Then 30.  Then one day, it just didn't wake up.  New monitors have different connections than my old Nvidia card, so I needed a new card.  New Nvidia cards needed a new motherboard.  So...cost me a bundle, and I'm not at the bleeding edge, but much better.  ASUS motherboard with i5 6 core 12 thread CPU with 16 GB of RAM, GTX 1660 with 6 GB on board, ASUS Blue Ray writer.  And an ASUS VP28UQG monitor - 1 ms Trace Free.  28".  Does 4K resolution!  Now, I just need time and energy and inspiration to start doing some 3D rendering.  That may be a little slower coming about.  Still have a lot going on in personal life.   This bundle cost me a bundle, but I'll be all set for at least a few years, now.

i'm still tempted to build a Pentium G-6400 or core I-3 computer with 32 GB of memory just to see how slow 3Delight would run on it in 2021/2022.  It might run half as slow as my current i-5 CPU.  :D

    ...Major Super Sized Non Complaint.

Got an email a short while ago from EVGA saying they had a 12 GB RX 3060 being held for me at the price of 409$.  That will likely be the closest to MSRP I'll likely see so with no hesitation put in the order and it was confirmed for delivery. Should be here by next Wednesday.  Sometimes good thing's do happen..

I figured a new GPU would be the last component in the planned W 11 update (hmm, 7 to 11).

I was also tempted as my preferred store shows Asus 12GB 3060's available for 640eur (vat 24% included), but as my 2070 Super can still handle most of the scenes, I managed to convince myself to wait and see what the rumoured RTX 30 Super's will bring to the table.

Why is it that whichever way you are holding a USB plug, that when you go to plug it into the port, it's never the right way?

And exponentially more likely, the harder it is to reach the port.

I did this piece a long time ago it seems.  Not sure when but it was before 2020.  I was just thinking of it so I posted it here.  It has nothing to do with John Wick.  I never watched John Wick and it appears I can't watch it.

Complaint: my browser crashed as I was trying to find this picture.  I did it in pastel on canvas.  I am trying to think of getting back to art.

The Internet has been wonky all day here and it's been annoying the poop outta me... I'm wondering if it's because of the geomagnetic interference or my ISP sucks.

Interesting... and tell me, how long have you noticed that magnetic interference affects your pooping?  Is this common in your area?  Could this be related to the inability to insert a USB plug right the first time?  This deserves fuller anaylsis.enlightened
