EBay Price Trend - 01 Nov - 30 Nov: each model RTX 3000 series has increased about $25 - $75 compared to 01 Oct - 31 Oct. So given its the Christmas shopping season, not too bad, but you can be pretty sure Junior isn't the one getting any of these cards are these prices this Christmas.
I ususally build my own systems and was putting my upgrade together, but this deal from iBuyPower was too tempting to turn down: https://www.ibuypower.com/Store/Gaming-RDY-SLHRG209. If I could get the GTX 3070ti, I could do my own build for $200-$300 less, but with a 3-year warranty, I say go for the pre-built system and get the GTX3070ti for sure.

I've been doing this list since 20 Sep 2021 and will stop on 31 Dec 2021 but my apathy towards buying a RTX 3000s series at the prices bering asked is absolutely justified from the results I see at Best Buy and even worse prices elsewhere. I will almost certainly be getting a RTX 4000 series instead by waiting in a queue on release day from some big box brick & mortar like Best Buy or MicroCenter.

Thanks for correcting my error nonesuch00. I thought about waiting for RTX 4000, but the same lack of availability and price escalation problem could occur with the new series. Plus the supply chain problems, inflation, and the possibility that Xi could invade Taiwan tipped my decision towards "Buy Now". I gave my backup system to my grandson, so my current system could serve as my new backup.

Hope your grandson enjoys his computer by the way. My choice is easier than yours because I have to spend money on others things in the meantime.
According to Paul's Hardware channel, NVIDIA will be re-releasing the 2060 12 GB card in 2022, as well a 3090 TI (VRAM unconfirmed), as well as a possible 3080 RTX 12GB and a 3070 TI 16GB.

He speaks to gutteral, clipped, and fast for me to follow him well but if they do do what you say, they'll probably have to call them something besides TI for these RTX 3000 series as those are all used for all the model levels except the RTX 3090.

I had to put Closed Captioning on just to be able to understand him (he talks too fast when talking tech).
The guy's voice is fine. I watched at 1.75x, same as usual and understood him. I don't understand the great benefit of a 12GB RTX 3080. The 12GB 3080 ti is already there and also hard to get unless buying a computer. And the computer makers have plenty of markup built into their component costs. I had looked hard at that, but reviews revealing the low quality of most prebuilts put me off of that. So, now waiting for EVGA to re-open their wait queue so I can get in line for an msrp-priced gpu
I've heard you can also sometimes score a gpu from Best Buy by putting your desired card in your wishlist and using their phone app. The app sometimes sends notifications that the cards are in stock and you can buy it that way. Guaranteed? No. Does it happen? Apparently so.
My current desktop I build in Nov 2019 - Feb 2020 has a good microATX tower case that cost $39 on Amazon. Why they call them "micro" for a size I'll never know. I have built (well put together after choosing parts) mini computers before though too; I guess they felt nanoATX was too corny and nerdish. No windows, good airflow, and very plain. However, when I have a GPU in one of the slots all the other 3 slots are gone even if the GPU is only a 2 slot GPU. I might someday paint the exterior though to make it match and blend into my house walls better.
Got my new machine today. The parts are high quality: Win11, ASUS x570 Motherboard, Gigabyte 3070ti Graphics, 16GB AData XPG Memory, WD Blue 1TB nmve drive, water cooling for the CPU, and a good case that lights up like a X-Mas tree. The system is beautiful, well made, quiet, and ran well "out of the box." Now to get my disk drives, tv card, extra memory installed, and the system setup with the Apps I use - Tomorrow's tasks.

Of course, one can always cut up a crummy prebuilt case to get better airflow...
