...same here (listening now). With all the music I studied over the years how did I miss this?
Apparently there's only two versions posted on YouTube. Neither of which is anywhere near as good as the radio version or the CD (same version) that I got from Amazon. The CD is from Naxos in the "British Piano Concertos" series. The pianist is Peter Donohoe, and the orchestra is the Ulster Orchestra. I don't often make comments about different versions of music but the CD version is very much brighter and dynamic and flowing and lyrical and just all around exciting, makes my spine shiver. Whereas both YouTube versions just sound blah in comparison.

It's that "dynamic and flowing and lyrical" that turns me on about Rachmaninoff. Especially his 3rd piano concerto. I've heard many versions on record and CD and I've heard it live several times in major halls by prestigious artists. But the best performance was in the Chautauqua Amphitheater with young relatively unknown pianist Alexander Gavrylyuk. Absolutely incredible performance. I was in tears, yelling "YES" and "BRAVO" and on my feet along with the entire 4000 seat audience immediately as he finished the final crashing chords.
there where sun is going? dingie grey skies here

...ahh don't have the funds right now to go CD shopping (surprised they still make them in these days of iTunes and downloadable mp3s) wo sill have to make due for now. Still the music itself is incredibly grand even given the performance (and untimely breaks, reminds me of listening to it on an old 8 track). This is going on my character Leela's programme for her debut with the LSO.

It was bright and sunny here before, but the clouds have just started to move it. Rain the next two days. :long: But tomorrow it might even hit 60F here! I'm not holding my breathe, though.

...unfortunately ran out last night. The local "natural market" doesn't sell them, just some terribly overpriced herbal substitute that really does nothing for me (guess menthol is not "organic" enough).
No, I am unemployed. I have barely enough money to pay off my student loans. Low money in accounts 1 reason why I can't spend lots of money on the Daz Store. lol. My parents aren't going to pay for a home mortgage in addition to my own place.
what is a migraine?
You would know if you suffered from them. Thank your lucky stars that you don't
A headache so bad that light hurts, sound hurts and your brain hurts, you throw up and it hurts to move. Can last for days.

The only experience that I've found worse was viral meningitis (inflammation of the membrane around the brain and spinal chord. It's 3-days of torture and 20 years ago was an $8000 hospital bill) but I was lucky. Bacterial meningitis is often fatal.

sounds like what i feel like.
sounds like what i feel like.
I'm sorry. :-( Dark, quiet rest. If it persists see a doctor. There are modern medications for true cases of migrane.

The version I have is played by Malcolm Binns, with Bryden Thomson conducting ... The Ulster Orchestra.
I have a complaint: there's a tornado in the area. The warning sirens have been running off and on, and it started while I was walking home from the bus stop. :ahhh:
Tornado is 1/2 mile wide and is not heading towards me, at least not right now. Phone went off and told me "TORNADO IN YOUR AREA SEEK SHELTER IMMEDIATELY". Damn sirens just came back on. Moving 40MPH, destruction in it's path expected, evacuate mobile homes in the area.
They didn't say kiss your butt goodbye, though.
Not good.
Stay safe!

...yeah I'd heed the warnings. Tulsa is in the middle of "Tornado Alley.".
I've been through a few minor tornados. Trees down, lost a fence, etc. But my most memorable experience was on a nice sunny day with a couple of dark patches of cloud in Florida on the central east coast near Melbourne. My home was only a couple hundred yards from the ocean. I came out of my door, looked up for some reason and noticed that I was looking up at a shaft of bright white vertical cloud almost above me. I thought "that's strange". I grabbed my binoculars off of the piano and took a closer look and could see that it was swirling really fast. By that time I was looking almost straight up this column of white cloud and realized that it was a waterspout in the ocean just off the beach less than a quarter mile away. Then it disappeared in a few moments. Poof, gone.
Where you have to rebuild your house every few years and still feel it's a good idea to live there.
Honestly, I wouldn't live a hundred miles of that place - would just be too terrified to!
TroutFace, are you still in Austin, Texas or did you move to Tulsa, Oklahoma? Somewhere else?
I have a weather app on my tablet but the stupid thing never sounds an alarm when severe weather is nearby. I'll need to try another app for Android. I already have a weather alert radio but it is not very portable like a tablet.
Stay safe!

It passed us. I filmed the top of the tornado passing.

I loved this scene in the show, and this 'motivational poster' really makes me like it even more. So true too
