Very nice. And thank you for the additional coat textures and whisker shapes. Are you also planning a kitten morph, Vyusur?

This! And more breeds? And putting Zeus on significant sale? laugh

  • Nice cat, indeed. If it would also be available as "stand alone" cat, it would have been anb instant buy.

  • I think this goes perfectly with Zeus. I have never had a cat as skinny as this, always sharing the house with a big and bulky cat. However, it does flex so well, actually a great deal better than my real avatar cat ever did with his soccer ball sized stomach. Just perfect.

I think my problem with Zeus is the fur; it is too perfect, too regular, especially over the body. I was visiting a friend yesterday who has a large short haired ginger tom just like Zeus (smaller head) and his hair just isn't that uniform, and I think that is what is giving the toon-ish vibe to Zeus for me. If that was updated with more random lengths fur and a less stubby tail option I would pick him up, the Sphynx and other breeds. I could maybe dial in Rufus for my friend with some more breeds.

This may sound strange, but could someone post 3delight renders of Zeus and Sphynx?

My computer can't handle iray(AMD graphics card and 16 GB Ram) and I can't afford to upgrade, so I render in 3dl which is fine for my needs. I really like these cats, but before I invest that much money in them, I want to make sure they look okay in 3dl. I have generally found that iray hair renders fine in 3dl, so hopefully the fur will too. My biggest concern is their eyes, but I may have a workaround for that.

I don't suppose there's a tabby add-on for Zeus (or will be in the future)? I miss mine so much.

Especially one like this?: https://images.app.goo.gl/hs2ZD2LzjDsU5GNC6 ;(that isn't my cat, but it is similar)

    Instant Siamese

Sphynx morph, Zeus dforce fur and whiskers (with siamese texture applied).

    Mmmmmeow.

Where did you get the texture?

    I created them.

On my author bio I do have for years talked about a misfit Siamese. This cat attacks me unprovoked and can be a sweetheart a second later. I have videos of her pouncing on my head (at 3am), treating me like mouse prey and I wrote a book about it. All I was missing was this 3D version of my little monster. Love it and thank you.

I agree with you, Vyusur, I don't see any tooniness in Zeus.  I only wish I hadn't had other expenses when he first came out and had bought him then. Now I have two kitties to buy.   I love the Sphynx cat.  My neighbor has a couple of these. smiley

...a few others besides myself have had similar feelings with the original.

I do agree that the Sphinx's physique (particularly the head) is very much in line with the Asian exotic types, which as in the images above is why it makes for a good Siamese.  With the right coat texture it could also be a Burmese, Cornish/Devon Rex, Savanna Cat, or Abyssinian.

Are there morphs to alter head and body shape?

To have a new cat figure that can be built upon which bends and poses much closer to the actual critter is still a major improvement over what we've had for the last 15 years.

One can definitely make the fur more scraggly and clumpy in the dforce surface settings. This is such a major huge improvement over the Daz Housecat I can't even tell ya. LOL

...at least Sphinx's don't need dForce fur,

However, on close examination of a few promo images, it appears there is an extremely short fur texture.  Have a friend who cared for a pair of Sphinx cats last summer and they are totallyhairless.

I met a couple of sphynxes recently, the first time I'd actually encountered the breed in real life. These ones had a sort of peach fuzz in places. They were actually quite nice to pet -- very velvety to the touch.

They were also remarkably wrinkly. One of them looked like a tiny brain (see attached).

Here, Zeus is clumpy and the only thing I changed morph-wise was I shrunk his head .18 and increased the thigh size. I changed the claws shader a little as it was too white and opaque for me. He looks exactly like my cats do 99% of the time - totally disinterested. LOL The more I work with him, the less toony he looks, especially if you clump up the fuzz.

The sphynx is nekkid except for whiskers. I added some dual lobe spec, but just a teeny bit. I have his HD wrinkles turned on and turned his resolution up to 3.

    Thank you Vyusur. I'm very pleased with everything so far. :) I do have a wishlist tho....lol (of course I do - I wouldn't be a DS user if I didn't. :P )

    Ears smaller/larger
    Head triangular
    Body stocky/thin/fat/muscular
    Paws smaller/larger
    Nose wrinkle
    Eyes smaller/larger
    Eyes angle
    Eyes wider/narrower
    Muzzle longer/shorter/flat
    Muzzle pointed/rounded
    Prominent breastbone

Also, more textures (one can never have enough - I require a tortie and calico with tabby stripes...lol). I'd also love to see a long haired cat. Not so much a flat-faced persian, because I think those look deformed and I feel sorry for them, but maybe a long haired Turkish cat of some sort :). Thanks for listening!

    That's just a start. LOL

....thank you.  I was hoping to see a few head shaping morphs as cats not only come in all sizes but have different head and face shapes, particularly mixed breeds which make up the majority of common house, stray, and feral cats.   So with the Sphinx is there a shape slider between it and the base cat in the parameters tab or is it just a straight preset load?

Apologies for al the questions but on a tight budget here and getting both is a bit out of a dent in the account.

Zeus with Sphinx at 35%, Head scale -28%, Thigh Size 50% with one of the sphinx textures. The hair is still ever-so-slightly clumpy with a lot of random length, but I shortened the length overall.

Well, not long for me at all cause I have the Quadro P6000 with 24 gigs frown It's pretty fast. I'm going to assume I'm the exception rather than the norm ;). I know you have a Titan card though so it shouldn't take you too much longer. I mean, the Quadro sims it in a matter of less than 2 minutes and it renders in about 4 or 5.

Edit: retimed it. Sim took 32 seconds, render to 2000 samples took 2 minutes and 22 seconds. That's with just the cat and a plain background.

When I eventually pick Zeus up, I'll need to play around with the fur settings to see if I can approximate the out-of-control fluff of my cat.

That is a great move in the right direction AllenArt! heart I'd prefer not to have to Sim the fur and have it look like that, or a bit shaggier, out of the box, but... I'll put Zeus and Sphinx in my wishlist. All the cats I've had over the years have looked shaggier, even my British Blue Shorthair there were layers of fur lengths.

Edit - I asked my friend for pictures of Rufus and she came back lightening fast (obviously wants to show of her baby) Asked her of one of him standing, so might add that if she sends it later

The regular Daz house cat with dForce fur can crash my computer with a 1080ti and I have to use DS Beta 4.14 because 4.15 immediately crashes on iRay preview and I haven’t dared try 4.16. How do these cats render for what’s now considered a low end card like the 1080ti?
