It took me a minute, but I finally figured out who he looks like - a teenage Jack Black. I think this is the kid who beats up Brodie and takes his lunch money. :)
And yeah, it's kind of a strange choice, but given that I think most of us consider the various G2 characters as simply sets of morph sources, he's at least different enough from the others that he'll add some interesting variety to the gene pool.
Release an odd looking figure, overprice the bundle and then claim that 'male figures don't sell'!
Which makes it sound like people have not been saying that for the last 10 years. One figure doing well or not does not say much but having the statistics for the last decade say it is another story.
I don't know that I'd go so far as to call him ugly... but he certainly wasn't the aesthetic I was expecting.
Of course, since I wasn't expecting him until next month, I went and spent money on other things, and now I can only afford either Cory or Callie - not both, even with the extra 30%.
So, since I already have Girl 6 and Aiko 6... I guess I'll see how well Cory does with them. :)
Corey, not so great. But Rick has a bit of a Flynn Rider vibe going on (at least, the expression does). But other than Victoria, does anyone use the base figures? As long as Corey has some good characters based on him, I'm good. Plus, at least Callie has a male counterpart. Wth that said, if they ever do a Hiro 6, I do hope they put more effort into it.
I tend to mix characters 99% of the time. I still get new figures but only for the fact that their shapes can be mixed in with excisting ones to make a new look.
he reminds me of the brother in married with children

True - but I sometimes wonder if they don't do it to help substantiate the situation.
Personally I like him and can see a lot of potential with mixing him up with other morphs.
Puts me in mind of an updated Dennis (3DU's Dennis, that is).

I don't much like the head shape or the base set's face, but the body looks properly 'Toon male to me.
All three of the add-on characters are interesting. I like the aviator set. The hair is the classic 20th century short-back-and-sides that would certainly fit most mid-century renders. Looks like the forehead is awfully low, but that may be different on different morphs. Don't know how well it would work with a hat.
Wow, he looks more like a caveman than a toon.
So not what I was expecting :(
Well, Render is pending, but using the Kirk Character gives a fairly decent male opposite for a Mix of 50% Girl 6, 50 % Aiko 6.
Edit to add render.
Not my best work, just a quick load and run (with some lighting tweaks)
the female has Girl 6, Aiko 6, and Mei Lin each at .5 (or 50%), while the male has Kirk at 1 (or 100%, which loads Cory at 40% head, 60% body) and Lee at 50%. Other than that, I made no changes.
The skin textures are Xiao Mei and Hachiro
What uv does Rick use?
His product page says the base G2M UV. (He's not part of the bundle, unfortunately)
DAZ would never intentionally shoot to not make money on a figure they have invested so much time and money in. No PA ever sets out to make products that will not sell well. Saying that they do is like saying people intentionally screw up at work in hopes of a pay cut. I'm not sure why people like to attribute something to nefarious goals rather than accept long term facts on as such.
I'm guessing Rick is mainly geared towards heroic adult caricatures, but Kirk is necessary for teenager and relatively 'normal'-looking characters.
Not sure what to make of Cory, as a base character figure. Not quite an adult, but not convincingly young. With both Callie and Girl, you can use them for either age range without much problem, at all.
Rick and Kirk work fine on G2M, there isn't even an error message about the missing Cory morph popping up when I load them (without having Cory installed, that is).
INteresting. I wonder if the Cory's bundle was at least partially made of things that weren't initially intended for that figure. I can see the aviator suit as a semi-tie in with Cally's Captain Cupcake, but the items seem like a rather odd collection for a character that's theoretically being sold as a "toon."
Yeah, I'm with you on that one. The face looks really weird. Not sure what they were going for, but they could've made it look better, like

I have to admit, when I saw the promo pic in my email this morning I remember thinking "who's the strange looking old guy?"
The price is now $16.49 if you own Callie, so that's really reasonable to give him a try IMO, particularly with what is in the bundle. I really like Rick. (Edit, I know he isn't in the bundle, that came out wrong. I mean I want to try Rick on Cory base.)
I'd offer to do some renders to test out different morph combinations, but we have a line of storms with tornado warnings coming straight at us, and night before last, we were out of power for four hours with lesser storms. I will try to test Cory with a few things and see how he does if I can get things downloaded in time. Already storming.
That the base or that the bundle? I've the Callie Pro bundle and the Cory bundle is showing at $18.85.
I was one of the people who got the survey, so I'm going to hold out until the coupon is sent out. That ought to be some time this week, I would think.
That was the Pro Bundle. And that was before I used my PC+ daz code and got another $6 off of that. (It's the end of the month in a few days, don't forget your codes :) ) I do own the Callie Pro bundle so that's the price that came up for the Cory bundle.
Change that, I tested it and that was WITH the $6 off. Sorry for the confusion :) I tested the cart without it and thought I was looking at the correct screen capture. Too many windows open.
This may have been answered before, but I couldn't find it. I have Callie 6 base. How long is the extra 30% Cory 6 good for? I don't get paid until the 30th, so I was hoping to wait until then, but if the extra % off is only for today that won't work for me.
Cory has a message for everybody
Cody - back off the soy
Hilarious!
I got Corey ...and he is not a classicly handsome,I think part of that is his eyebrows .....they are overly large, with a different texture and smaller eyebrows he looks to me alot like Mickey Rooney(young) .....and I really like that .....
I wish he looked more like a caveman, Guy was attractive. http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/the-croods/images/f/fb/Guy.png/revision/latest?cb=20130227020254
On another note: toon Jimmy Cagney!
I think the thing that is throwing people, and giving the gut reaction of "ugly!" is the eye depth especially as they make the cheekbones read as even smaller. Its particularly evident in this shot http://www.daz3d.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/0/5/05-daz3d_cory-6_.jpg
If you make the eyes a bit deeper (you could also make the cheekbones and brows stick out more) I'm pretty confident he'll be a bit more attractive
Seriously though, James Cagney.
*EDIT* Speaking of toon versions of people Coral for Callie looks disturbingly like a toon Natalie Dormer. Would anyone be kind enough to post a render of her morph without Callie?
Cory looks a little like Leonardo DiCaprio to me, in that DiCaprio somehow manages to look like a 40year old High School Kid. That's what Cory looks like too.
So I don't think Cory's an ugly character, he's just not what I was expecting at all.
What character is the caveman guy you linked too? That's actually what I was expecting/hoping Cory would look like.
Guy from The Croods. Given that Chris Sanders was mentioned as one of the influences, I was hoping his films would be an influence for Cory as well.
Croods had pretty much my favorite character and set design ever. I'm in a small minority, but I thought it was so much better than Frozen.
