Or "plane" isn't the problem, it just doesn't rhyme with "ray-in" and "Spay-in" and "play-in"

Yea! Windstream doubled my Internet speed!

I got an advertisement in the snail-mail from Windstream (my phone & internet provider) bragging about how they are going all out for the customer and to take advantage of their new speeds. I guess they've been replacing hardware along the lines. So I called them on the phone and asked what they could do for me. She looked at my account and since I was "grandfathered in" on some plan or another I was entitled to their 12MB/sec Internet DSL speed which is double the 6MB/sec I'd been using for the last 4 years. Cool! I just used "www.SpeedTest.com" to test my download speed and it's 12.8MB/sec Yea!

Yeah, yeah, I know other people get ten times that with cable. But for DSL in this area I'm one of the lucky ones that actually gets the speed I pay for. I live only a quarter mile from the local phone shed. First thing I noticed was that I no longer get long delays from NbcNews.com when downloading video clips.

The best thing is it didn't cost me a cent. Originally they were going to charge me a one-time $5 change fee but they screwed up the order the first time, and I had to call them again to find out where my new speed was. They eventually discovered that the order code had been entered wrong and they'd given me 6MB/sec again instead of 12MB/sec. So they re-issued the order and canceled the $5 fee. It remains to be seen if my bill next month gets it all straight but I watch these things and make myself heard if they screw up.

Along the same lines, I was able to get my DISH TV bill reduced from about $90 to about $55 for one year without sacrificing features, by threatening to terminate my service because I was tired of their offerings and was thinking of going to Hulu and Netflix only. I guess DISH is desperate to keep customers.

I'm near Buffalo, but there is something virulent going around. I had it a couple weeks ago and it was one of the worst cold/fever/headache/joint pain, (but no nausea) problems I've ever had. My doctor said she's seen a lot of it lately.

Did you get food in there or something? I don't think there's usually a need for that. But if there is, there is probably a special object to use.
