Bagels are not my favorite thing. It's like someone made a batch of doughnuts and left all the good-tasting parts out of 'em and let them get stale for a couple of days. For breakfast? Give me a biscuit. For our friends who call cookies biscuits one is pictured below.

    To each her/his own.

They look like what we would call Scones

    Ah, so THAT's a scone!

Do your web browsers collect "biscuits" instead of "cookies"?

In the morning, give me a breakfast taco. Seriously. Please give me a breakfast taco. Haven't had a decent one since I moved away from Austin. For all those folks back in the Texas Hill Country, hope you get some relief from the floods soon.

Beautiful day here today. Will get into the mid 80s(F).

Took my car to the local service station to get the air-conditioner checked. It's not quite up to snuff. Probably just needs a top-off of coolant after being idle most of the winter. Also having all fluids checked and a trip-worthiness exam.

I'm scheduled for a trip to a Sunday afternoon symphony in Pittsburgh in a few weeks and I don't want to be in a hot car for 200 miles each way. :-S

Biskies are tasty, and bagels rock with salmon cream cheese! :cheese:

I can afford ONE super-carby thing a day.. ONE biscuit, ONE muffin, ONE bagel.. take my choice.. meh.

Brekkie today was.. hard salami slices, green tea, and water. :blank: Don't get me wrong, the salami was great, but I get odd looks when people go past my desk...

I'd go to Batmans (yes, there is a gas and gulp called "Batmans") to the steam counter and get a bacon sandwich, but it's pouring.. meh.

I've heard of that place...I just don't know where I've heard of it. It probably has nothing to do with the DC comics hero. Maybe the original owner carried around a bat. Maybe he was robbed a lot.

Yep, over here on the left size of the globe, biscuits are not cookies. Nor are they bagels. Biscuits are flakey, buttery and good by themselves for about 10 minutes until they cool at which point they become poor substitutes for hockey pucks unless smothered in strawberry sauce or hot gravy. :-)

Cookies are baked sugar, lard, and various minor ingredients like chocolate chips, nuts, coconut and/or icing. Raisins are often used as an ingredient in cookies but for some that is blasphemy. :cheese:

Bagels are just a poor imitation of dog's leather chew toys. :P

Soft oatmeal raisin cookies are great! Slightly chewy. It's the only way I'll eat oatmeal.

Yeah, I moved from Austin to Tulsa and the breakfast tacos here are major lame.

Flooding here as well, not as bad as back in Texas.. hope everyone stays safe..

I never used to like breakfast until I got gray hair. Hmmm... I wonder if there's a connection?

Breakfast for me is either unsweetened oatmeal mush with a tiny little bit of milk, or a bowl of Wheaties cereal when I feel health conscious .

Or fried potatoes, onion, ham, cheese, sometimes with sausage gravy & bacon all topped with an egg when I say "what the he!!" :P

Complaint: I miss the old smileys. We need a "being devlish", and a "light-bulb inspired" and a "crying".

    NEW COMPLAINT!!!!!! :shut:

Pants soaked to the skin. Shirt kinda damp. Wet socks.

3/4 of the way to the bank, the sky opened up and rain came pi**ing down. Oh, and wind! Umbrella mostly useless.

Did manage to keep the phone and my money dry by shoving them into a top pocket.

Won't dry out for hours. :shut:

But, NON-Complaints! Got money now, so I can cab it home! :cheese: Whopper Jr. with no mater and extra pickle and unsweet tea, so tasty! :)

...Biscuits & Gravy are great but too much of a bother to make at home for brekkie (and do right). Otherwise I look at a biscuit as something more to serve with dinner.

Drop a bagel into the toaster for a couple minutes, slather it with creme cheese and I have a nice quick (as well as satisfying) brekkie without a lot of trouble or cleanup to do afterwards. 4$ for a pack of 6 bagels and tub of creme cheese will cover me for almost a week.

..the trick is you have to toast them. I'd never eat an untoasted bagel.

...and you are right about biscuits, best served warm with butter.

......sunny and 78° here heading to the mid 80s today.

One Friday complaint. Still haven't installed the Daz 4.8 general release as supposedly there is a separate installer for Iray Content (Shaders & Lights). Don't see that in my DIM listing, just something titled "Public Beta Content 1 DS".

Yeah, I saw that too.. weird. But I don't use iRay, so not a worry for me.

    Bryce all weekend! :cheese:

..found them. they are buried down on the DIM products list. I would have expected to see them in the Updates section or at the top of htje products list when I used the "most recent" sort filter.

    Downloading everything now.

Even though my GPU isn't powerful enough to support IRay GPU rendering, I get great results in less time than Reality/Lux or even using 3DL with UE.

Funny over the last couple months I gained a better understanding of working with Iray materials than with the Renderman Shader Language or 3DL Scripted Rendering.

Something that many people are not aware of is "Salt rising bread" or perhaps "self-rising bread".
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salt-rising_bread
It's one of those specialties that one has to look for and when you find a source you have to hope they stay in business and keep making it. It was a staple in our house during the 50s & 60s here in Western New York State. (as mentioned in the Wikipedia article). It makes a wonderful toast and the smell of it toasting is delightful. Buttered when toasted and still hot it has a unique wonderful savory flavor, smell and texture. (*Yum*) However, IMHO cold salt rising bread is disgusting and does not make good sandwiches! It's like crumbly cushion foam or non-leathery plain bagels. (*yuck*)

It's still sold here in the local little grocery store but it has no preservatives and doesn't keep so it tends to turn green after 3 or 4 days. It's something you pick up the night before you want it. It comes in small loaves. I don't buy it much anymore because I can't eat a whole loaf before it goes bad. When I have breakfast out I'll get a couple slices at one of the few restaurants that are known to keep it on-hand.

Speaking of turning green, that's what I do when the Swedes around here invite me to Christmas dinner and excitedly tell me they'll have plenty of lutefisk.

rough day. Long story short: Missed the 9:11 AM bus to a subway station because it came 5 minutes early. The 9:45 came 5 minutes early too. I guess the bus drivers is driving the bus fast for some reason. because I missed the 9:11 AM bus, I couldn't take the 10:00 AM express bus to the big shopping mall. I had to take a subway train. I guess I was still half asleep because I got of at the wrong stop. I had to wait 15 minutes for the next train.

Now I'm back and my legs are starting to cramp up.

Yeah, the express bus only takes 30 minutes because it goes on the I-495 highway. If I took the subway, then I would need to go around Alexandria and Arlington, VA: I need to take the Blue line from Springfield and then I would catch Silver line to Tysons Corner. The subway takes about 30 minutes longer. I forgot to mention that I am at my friends house in Virginia.
