results of the over night render (well 15k samples, 28800 seconds) it took a little over 5 and half hours to hit 15k samples.
also remembered to turn on the architectural sampler this time.

    doodling....

    :: chortle ::

    LOL

Reminds me of an Intel ad I once saw in which an engineer was doodling something while chatting on her cell phone. When the camera cuts to a shot of the paper she's using, it's a bunch of complex mathematical formulas, and the narrator says, "Our doodles... aren't like your doodles."

    Superb job!

I have a question: what are the good settings for bloom effect to give outdoor render a nice touch of atmospheric halo? Default settings (radius 0.05 threshold 2000, scale 1) seem too much for this, they overblur my image.

I remember seeing comparison chart somewhere on the forums, but can't find it again, and it's not in the documentation center =_=

    I used .01, threshold 15000, on mine.

A little off topic, or, maybe not......anyone out there tried JeffersonAF's Iray Shaders now available at Renderosity? I'm thinking of purchasing, primarily for the Liquid Shaders, as I can't seem to get a decent water render out of Iray, for the Life of me! Found here: http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/index.php?ViewProduct=110205

Wow! Didn't expect that! Something as calm as the first image, but with more depth and color. like the second.....don't even know if that's possible.....I have tried the dispersive water in Iray with caustics on, but not getting the desired effect......and Thank you!

The color will come from the Environment map you use as regularly the water has no intense color beside of some locations on earth but you can always add color under the refraction
I think I will build a scene with physical proportions and ground bellow , one thing I wish that the materials are animated like in Poser and Carrara I really miss it

going to setup the scene now will let you know when I am done

I have been trying to figure how to do a mirror in Iray and think I have finally got it. If you think it is a good shader I will save it out and share it.

Very nice. I really like the "infinity" effect. I would love to have this shader. I'm sure others will, as well.

Very realistic. I can almost see the flames move. Worth the wait, in my opinion.

Decided to try and do a self portrait (Girlfriend says it looks like me)
    Colour corrected in Photoshop

Render time: 4:03 - CPU only AMD 8320 3.5Ghz, set to finish on 7500 Iterations or 99% Converged Ratio

I will soon be getting a 4GB GTX 760 so look forward to the speed boost.

Thanks to Cath for Unshaven 2, shaders were applied to Hair and Eyelashes too.

Messing around with the Rock/stone shaders that became available today..

My only complaint with Iray is that it will enable a whole new slew of craptacular movies for the Sy Fy channel

    And I made Sunday's dinner :)

Used some props from the Grandeur Dinner Service , also converted all displacement from this set to full spectrum normal maps and used my PBS shaders on top.

I like the mirror. I think several people would find it useful. The reflections in the mirror is a great effect.

A render of the 1953 Cadillac Eldorado, deliberately made to look like a 1950s promo photo. The '53 wasn't available in pink, and it wasn't until towards the end of the 1950s that celebrities and other people with more money than taste starting buying pink Cadillacs, but I couldn't resist making one in pink.
