It's a really cumbersome spell check set up for sure.  I really want them to allow for right clicking menu options so I can go back to using the one that's built into Firefox and forget that stupid SCAYT spell check thing!  YUK!

    Tenessy, Chatanuga, Misisipee.

    works?

New posts are usually bumped to the top of the recent discussions list, and say new next to them

It's not the same, though, and it's not yet reliable; I'm having to remember to click on "Mark Forums Viewed" every time I log off for the night, otherwise I can click and click and click on pages in the Recent Discussions list and, like I just did a little while ago, after six pages I'm still getting a few threads showing up marked "oh, here's another one you haven't read".

It's an extra thing I have to do now, that I didn't need to bother about before. What's the opposite of "progress", again...?  frown

I am still not a fan,but in all fairness the 'look at new stuff' seems to actually work (unlike what we has with the previous pile of porverbial)..  And like many others I am staggered that a set of forum software does not include an in-forum search function; even allowing for the abilty to drive external search engines (such as google) with "site: daz3d.com" etc., there is still no excuse!

Yeah, it is kind of amazing...

    But in the mean time....

I dunno, I never had a problem with the previous forum's "I only want to read new posts since I last logged in" button. I did occasionally get... annoyed (just a little bit) when the "last logged in" time was reset to "ten seconds ago", but that was a separate problem. Besides, I don't think it happened at all in the last several months.

did we talk about deleting stuff in the inbox yet? Can't seem to get rid of those old messsages I know I deleted years ago because they royally bleep me off. They are from 2012.

Go to your inbox, open the message you want to delete, then click on this gear thingie in the upper right corner and then click *Delete Conversation*.

Thanks, I didn't even see that.  Speaking of which, it's black text on a black background until you mouse over it so you might not know of it's existence even if you see the screen.  You need to move your mouse to the circled area in the attached screenshot:

Oh, sorry.  Sometimes I missunderstand...especially when someone is being vague.  Sorry.

Looks like something they might have missed in the CSS or HTML.  Other options show up as white text.  That's my guess, anyway.

I have spent many contented hours (too many, probably!) looking at the various competition threads and similar threads where you'd expect to see a lot of renders (Novica's review thread was a favourite, and Daz should probably be paying her a comission if other people have spent as much money as I've done on the strength of it!), but most threads now feature thumbnails so small that I have to click on each one individually to see if I even like them enough to take a closer look. Life's just too short.

Thank you SO much- I wish I (and the Invited Guest Contributors) got a commission too LOL. Please note I have learned how to embed large images in my posts so please do pop into the Art Studio thread to see images the way you're used to seeing them. (I also posted a how-to, thanks to Ivy, who shared how to do it also.) It's business as usual! wink

...is here a way to keep SCAYT spell checking active during a forum session without having to turn it on each time you write a comment?

I haven't found one, if there is...

Nor me. If it is going to shut down my spell checker it should at least be set to on by default.

    ...hear hear.

..and when I set the language dictionary I want it to stay on that dictionary and not change back to default all the time.

When I try quoting someone all I get is a red line and the curser is rewriting the text I'm quoting.

Ah okay, there's a little thingy at the side you have to hit.

Are there skins for this forum software that will make it look like the old forum software?

When I am quoting I just place the cursor behind the last letter, hit enter two times and am in a place where I can type my message.

That way I haven't got booted out ... until now. wink

So I have seen people here talking about changing their forum name. I've thought maybe I should do this to shorten it. But... I do not see any method of doing so. There is no option to change the forum name under 'edit profile' -- change gender, change sig, change pic, sure. But not forum name. So how does one do it? Or is it not possible to do?

    NM... found it.

Was the opposite for me, I found that logging in from the forum made the log in stick

Nope, logging in through the store doesn't keep me logged in at the forum side any longer.  The forum logon should be infinite until the end user wants to log out.  I get why the store has a finite logging time period but the forums?  Dumb!

the previous forum, if I went to the store and logged in, then closed the browser I was no longer logged in the forums, I always had to go to the forums after the store to stay logged in the forums.

Now if I go to the store, no matter if I go to the forums before closing browser, I get that message of letting me know I am being logged out, but if I keep the forum open in another tab, I'm okay, or make sure I go to the forum first, before going to the store.

it's only a minor inconvenience for me,  not a fan of it but if that' just happen once or twice a week I'll survive and adapt

I really wish we could get the little green boxes or something like it back. Truth be told, I really like the idea forum ranks and it kind what helps encourage me to post more on here (especially where I'm still a bit shot over Genesis 3).
