Hi,
I'm at work right now. I'm noticing that my banner is oversized here on my laptop. So I remember Cath (Mec4D) mentioning about a 0% scale value to save out the banner as or something like that. Is there some way to set up the banner to auto resize per device so this size issue is resolved?? If so some instruction please.
Thanks so much
The dialog that comes up when you place the URL for the image file (note; not the same as "attaching", this is the little image button in the comment editor toolbar) has spaces for width and height. Put a number of pixels, e.g. 800, or a percentage of the browser window size, e.g. 80%, into those boxes.
When you size your banner instead of using pixels size put a % like 100% or 60 % then leave the height number empty or blank. hit save. now your banner should auto fit any device or browse you may need to play around with the% number up or down to get the size you want . But unser you make your banner 480 pixels wide you need to do % instead of pixels. BTW 480 pixels is the defualt mobil device size
""While I don't actually know how to remove it, you could simply change it to be a white square or something, thus you would not have any image there.""</i>
I don't want to upload an image. Also, how do I remove "platinum club" from the left? It is nobody's business unless they are staff or I say it is their business.
BTW, quoting doesn't work because there is no end to the quote-- anything I add to the post is included as the quote. I can see this box thing sometimes, but it takes up the entire post and there is no room outside of it. This really pisses me off. I don't need this while my brother is in the hospital. Shame on the DAZ staff for this.
To get quoting to work, move your mouse around the edit box until a red line and arrow appear, then click on that arrow and that will end the quote, and anything you add to the post will be after, rather than included in, the post. (I tried to add a screenshot that shows the red line and arrow, but apparently attachments aren't working right now, so you'll have to take my word for it that it really does exist. Just wave the mouse around a bit until you see it.)
I do not know if or how to remove "Platinum Club" from under your name. Perhaps somebody else knows.
If you are unwilling to change your image to erase it, you will have to keep it until somebody else can suggest a way to delete it if that can be done, sorry.
there is like a little return looking Icon, you can click that to post outside of the quote, I think you can click anywhere inside the quote then mouse over that area to bring it up to click on
Problem is when I tried to fix the banner in my sig settings it insisted that I put in a number for the height as well so I put in 100% ....
Just noticed we now get a pop up banner at the top telling us about special offers, that's new. I just got Olympia 6 for 85% off! I wouldn't ordinarily have bothered, but, with that much off, I thought 'Why not!?'.
CHEERS!
Yeah, it seems to have a close button (X) on the upper right, but it doesn't close it.
Dana
Correction: It didn't close it right away...but after I posted this, it was gone.
There was another for Aiko 6, but I didn't want her.
CHEERS!
I would like to get special offers ... is there a way to request it? LOL
About entering and re-entering threads and where you land.
I notice the current page number is bolded though it's a bit difficult to tell. That's good. Not allowing it to be clickable (and thus not underlined) would be better and less confusing. And if you're ON a page, its number should be in red. (well, you could say, you haven't read all the postings yet---doesn't matter every other page on the internet is marked as visited the instant you land there. It means 'visited' not 'I've sat here half an hour and read every single posting'.)
If you're someone who pops in, glances through the thread titles, enters conversations you're following, reads the new messages, never clicks a link, then leaves for the day the system works pretty well.
But no matter how you interact with the forum threads, clicking a link inside a thread then hitting back button is still annoying as heck because you're not necessarily brought back to where you were. I guess the system thinks when you return to the thread from the link you visited that you have read all the new messages and has marked thread up to date. It then brings you to the last page instead of the page you were on when you clicked the link. Arggghhhh.
What are you putting in my browser's history or how are you overriding what's there? And why can't you leave me alone unless I enter the thread via clicking on the thread title?
Not 0% but 100% so it always have the same wide as the post when scalled , I show you that 3 times before with screen grab, but I see finally you got it and your banner resize now ! congrats !
The default link includes #latest - which will take you to the first "new" post. When you go back the page you originally visited will no longer be new to you, so the link won't take you there. It's annoying, but it is (I think) working as it should.
The onformation has always been there - it was under your name as now on the original forums, in the previous forums it wasn't on your posts but it was in your publicly visible profile.
I'll add, that that may be somewhat 'misleading' to some, that us PC members are more in the know then just mere mortals, lol.
I don't mind people seeing that I am a PC member when they view my profile, tho being there in every post I make, is kind of shoving it in everyone's face. And that I'm not particularly fond of.
I am NOT a daz3d admin. I do NOT work for daz3d. And I am not employed by daz3d for anything. Thus, I'd rather just be identified as an 'Addict' or 'Overzealous-Poster', lol.
Something odd, that PC plus thing, only shows up in some places. I just noticed that.
(EDIT) And thanks for fixing the names so they don't steemroll other things.
they have been doing those for a while actually. not neccessarily 85% off or for those particular figures, but the pop up advertisement has been here since the last store update. There was an announcement about them being legit several months ago (over a year I want to say). I've used them time to time. sometimes they are better offers than others.
Thanks hon but everyone keeps saying to leave the Height at zero but the dialog won't let me do that so I just put in 100% for Width and 100% for Height...
I think I might have come across that one because my pop-up blocker stopped working. I've installed a new one now so I might not get them again. The one I'm now using doesn't have an 'allow' feature either, so they may be gone for good. Ah well....
CHEERS!
I can't figure out how to reply to a message in my inbox. I can't find any reply button. I tried just typing in the message box below the message I received, but I think ??? that just sent a message to myself???
No it sends a reply to your correspondent. THink of it as more like a private chat room than a tradional PM system.
That's great. Thanks, Chohole.
So is there a 'text quota' that I still need to watch? I was, I think, in the vicinity of 70% last forum.
They might have meant "leave the Height box blank" — I've done this a few times now for uploaded renders, and when I put e.g. 800 in the Width box, the Height box automatically gets the proper scaled-down value.
It can be made to work almost like the old forum's automatic "show shrunk version, click for original size" system, but it's all manual — we have to do all the linking and sizing in two or three steps. Fiddly and annoying, like way too many things in this new forum.
Yeah, I can see that can't be changed. It's not necessarily working 'as it should' but 'as designed'. We used to be able to tell what page we left off on by viewing the page numbers on the 'main page listing of thread titles'. Just giving us a few more numbers at the 'last' end would have been sufficient. Look what we've had to sacrifice to be taken to the exact message to start reading rather than clicking on the page number that message is on from the main page ourselves. I, personally, don't find the tradeoff even close to good. But that's me--I haven't a clue what others think about it.
Hi Ram , Don't put anything in the height leave it blank. if you put in 0 then the graphic editor wants a number value like 01, 02 etc. but if you leave it blank, it does not require any value to be added :)
Seems to be working OK with the settings I have but I'll see tomorrow when I go to work and am on the laptop.... Made some changes to the banner too, like the red orange as the new background.
Yes, it looks good!
Dana
Sigh. This editor is just awful.
I tried to quote something that had quoted something and accidentally blew part of the quote away but lost it and could not get it back. Frankly I don't feel like fooling around in this horrible editor so... just ignore this post.
Thank you Dana!
