Hmmph, you had to discover that after I had gone to the effort of finding the relevant email exchange to check.

It's all part of my clever ploy to make your fingers get more exercise.  :-)

I don't know why I didn't see any specific max file size message on all the previous attempts though, unless somebody just added it based on my previous post.  Odd.

Wish we had smilies like that here!  These new ones are just so homogeneous and ugly!

You only have to go find a site that provides the links for free smileys and add them as images.

This is one of my faves,  a cho smiley

So I can finally go back to the smilie archive I was using before the previous forum switchover?

Yes.  I couldn't find a Wolffie smiley though

I can't recall the limit, and it's buried in an email, but I think that would be too much.

Ok, thanks.  I tried splitting it into two smaller zips, and this time I got a message that the file was too big, and the max is 2MB.

Yes, it's somewhere right around 2,000,000 bytes.

  • (Possibly related both to  the  mail ebots with links to the wrong page and the automatic logout problems) When I get an email that there's a new post on a subscribed thread I get taken to that post, then "Please wait while we log you out", then the forum homepage. Since I don't need to be logged in to look at the forum why am I redirected to the forum homepage after being logged out? Why doesn't it put be back at the URL whose link I followed?

After 2 days of staying logged in, I got kicked out a few mins ago. Just when you think something is fixed....

    CHEERS!

  • Okay, another extreme annoyance. Sometimes while I'm in the middle of typing up a reply, I click the blue "post" button at the bottom and... nothing happens. It's as if my mouse click isn't being detected.

No, wait, I do get a little dark grey "page not found" button in the bottom corner after a little while, in the same place as the "draft saved" message.

Apparently I'm being silently logged out; if I try to look at another forum thread I get the "signing you back in" message, and I can then post my reply.

This is getting ridiculous — I can understand being logged out after some time of inactivity (and it would be nice if we knew how long that was), but it's completely random. I can take a break from reading the forum while I go off for supper, come back an hour or two later and carry on from where I left off, and I can suddenly get the "signing back in" message in the middle of continuous forum activity.

Aha!  I'm NOT crazy!  (err.... at least not due to that.)  I swear that's happened multiple times, but was never 100% sure that I didn't somehow miss with the mouse or something.  However, I was always able to try the button again and get it to work in my case.   Try pressing it a few times next time, and I'll keep an eye out to see if that every fails to work for me and then I'll try your look-at-another-thread-to-trigger-re-login trick.

Nope. Multiple button clicks is how I get the "page not found" button to show up. Nothing else happens, no matter how many times I click.

...that's happened to me after I've made a purchase in the store. I'll come back to the forums and when I try to post a comment I get an error message that the page cannot be found.

I have also had forum issues (don't remember exact nature of them) after using the store, but wasn't sure if the timing was just coincindence since the logout thing seems to happen at random.  So it appears it was probably not a coincidence then, interesting.

  • Well, I've opened a support ticket. Let's see if it gets ignored like my other one about a forum query, that hasn't got a reply for more than two weeks...

Can anyone come up with a plausable explanation for the silly little black box to the left of every post and every topic? Clicking on it highlights everything to the right - so we can (oh, joy!) copy and paste the entire post, including the avatar, the signiture, the quote button . . . why on earth would we need this?

I'm not seeing this little black box.  You have a little black box, and I don't!  (shhh...everyone will want one).

    Oh yes, please!

As there are no green boxes anymore, could I get a blackbox?

    *grin*

Not me ... but ok, I am using Firefox and NoScript and only permit daz3d.com and ajax.googleapis.com - blocking the rest is defending my privacy ...

I don't see any black box either. Could it be a browser plugin?

I have noticed that after making a purchase in the shop and coming back to the forum it flashes up that it is signing me in. I don't get signed out though and have been signed into the forum and website continuously since I joined months ago smiley

I'm using firefox, adblock plus - and the privoxy local proxy server (blocks almost all ads, web-bugs, and other trackers). I'll have to look tomorrow and see if I get this result on my laptop when I'm off-site downloading.

I am seeing the black boxes Namffuak - currently I'm on IE11 at work with no plugins, but I see them at home on FF Nightly with or without any plugins. I thought it was some weird Threading things they were trying.

Latest FireFox, ....and I can see little  black boxes to the extreme left... (click to highlight EVERYTHING in the post)

  • Just tried all of my browsers, not seeing them in Chrome, Firefox or Opera?   Baffling.

I think they may be targets people - currently travelling and on my netbook, haven't used it in months, it has an older version of Firefox on it and I have these boxes. If they are and looking for a reaction - lose the boxes, waste of screen space.
