Hope I didn't miss this info somewhere, but why would an attached image thumbnail not have a link to the original image to click on? There's no way to view the image. What makes this happen? I haven't attached an image in a long time so I'm sure I must be missing some subtlety somehow?

If you take the URL from the image thumbnail it will come in as a thumbnail size image when added in line.  You need to click on the thumbnail to bring it up to full size and take the url for the image location from that.

    Taken from thumbnail

As agianst the full size image (resized manually when added in line.)

if you have a URL to the image then use the add image icon and paste the url to it. If you don't have one then post the image as an attachment. You can then click on that attachment and view it and get the url from there

That's what I'm talking about! I clicked 'attach a file' and uploaded the image. When I put the mouse over the image or the image name there's no linking. Click and nothing happens. The name isn't even underlined which usually shows it's linked. Wondering what causes that? Nothing strange about the filename, or the filesize, or the extension.

Arggggh. That's what I've been doing but blush i have to post the comment first before it works. I was trying to view the image before I posted. And yeah, now I remember. As I said it's been a while.

What I said was right. What you said is right. There's just a step missing.

It is very odd.  The hyperlink takes you to a full sized image.  But if you right-click and select "copy link location", it gives you the thumbnail location, not the full size image location.  The click link should be the same as the right-click "copy link location" link.  If you want the actual thumbnail image, then that should be in the "copy image location".

Well now I'm starting to get that annoying LOOP of signing me back out, lasts sometimes for like 1/2 a minute and sometimes it's just like 3 little loops.  Not sure what bug that is but it's annoying for sure!  sad

Also, on new threads, shouldn't the OP be automatically subscribed to the very thread they started?  That's kind of ridiculous to have to hit that little star icon to subscribe to a thread that I started.  LOL

    Yeah, that would be nice!

As noted above and before, forum keeps signing me out... It was not a too big problem because my iPad is set to remember my login info, but now every time I login in get a message saying that my "previous login info does not match the info at DAZ3D, would I like to change it?", not the exact wording but basically the idea... Even though I agree to change it, I get that same message every time now... And every time the log out issue occurs... The login info is correct and consistent, and I always can manually login... I was starting to wonder if it was the iPad, but last night I got logged out a couple times and even though I was able to login I still saw a "Invalid Loggin or Password" warning (DAZ message, not iPad)...

And now some famous quotes about change:

"Life does not get better by chance, but it does get screwed up and frustrating by change." - Big Bird or Some guy in a hat

"Only those brave enough to force a change can truly wreck a website" - Possibly Lao Tzu, Popeye or that guy with the hat

"The secret of change is to focus all your energy not on fighting the old, but on messing up the new long enough for others to forget the past"  -Socrates... Maybe.

Yeah, even when he is complaining McGyver makes me laugh.

  • RAMWolffRAMWolff Posts: 10,249

Yup, he's cracked me up here and on the Hivewire forums.  AND he's a nice guy.  When I was so so sick earlier this year he came into my thread over there and did his best to cheer me up, really really sweet guy and funny as hell!

His last one is mostly what I think.

    CHEERS!

  • Just wondering (before I try it myself) — has anyone put in a support ticket complaining that their support ticket complaining that the BRIGHTBRIGHTBRIGHTNESS!!! of the new look is actually physically uncomfortable, is being ignored? I'm getting really fed up with this. Eyestrain from trying to read blobs-that-are-probably-text in hideously bad colour choices is no fun.

And no, I won't use that colour plugin. Why should I need to?

  • RAMWolffRAMWolff Posts: 10,249

Well it may be your only choice SK.  Sorry your having such a time with the site's glare!!  frown

I don't know if it's my monitor settings or what, but, I've never had a problem with this being too bright. I'd suggest looking at your monitor settings and seeing what they do.

Not really related directly to the forum, but to messaging between forum users. But this seems the best place to post it.

When I get an email notification of a new message from another forum user the link in the email ( of the http://www.daz3d.com/forums/messages/XXXXX#XXXXX format ) takes me to the My Account page ( https://www.daz3d.com/customer/account/#XXXXX ).

The "Messages" link from that page takes me to an empty inbox.

To find the message I need to go to any of the forums, click the gear dropdown top-right of the page, and go to that Inbox, which as we all know now is completely separate.

(btw - I used the "remove link" option on both those URLs - they're invalid obviously, the XXXXX is whatever the appropriate number is)

Hmm I don't understand that, as all my ebots for private messages are working fine.

Neither's this - but it's clearly related to the tedious getting logged out all the time problem all over the site. (I've given up reporting bugs - I can't face having to do a separate login at https://helpdaz.zendesk.com/home to file a bug report that I know will just be consigned to the limbo of all previously filed bug reports...)

I'm logged in. I go to my product library. I find DS 4.8. I start downloading it. No problem so far.

Nothing in the blurb on the page in my product library says whether my nVidia card is up to it, so I click the link to the product page. I get the attached screenshot. Log in? I'm already logged in !

Edit: Ah! Since I'd already started the download from "My Product Library" and checked that it was progressing okay I didn't fully read the "Login here to get your DAZ Studio Pro" link text. If I had I might have realized that it was asking me to login again to do what I had already just done, i.e.start the download.

The key was actually on the other side of the page, over on the far left, with the "Read more" link. So I clicked that - Exhibit 1, a totally pointless intermediate webpage with nothing useful on it. I assumed the green button with "Read More And Download" (which I thought I'd already selected to do, and already done, respectively) needed to be pressed (attached screenshot -the one with the green button). Before pressing it I scrolled upand down and around and didn'tfind anything useful.

Did that take me to a page with useful information? It didn't look promising. (Screenshot 2 - the girl with the red-and-black hair). But this time scrolling to the bottom of the page past the rubbish looked promising (screenshot 3) - but only a "recommended" nVidia card spec for iray, no minspec. So I still haven't found what I'm looking for.

Do you get URLs in the same format ? I recall reading somewhere that some people have said that some specific problems are browser-related but that some other folks dispute it and etc... ad infinitum

I'm now at the stage where I simply expect things here and at Renderosity not to work properly. And every time I come to either website to do something sensible I reckonj it's 50/50 at present whether I can do what I want without posting a rant or two (I sya 50/50, but to be fair probably about 75-90% of the time I can do what I want without any major annoyance - being logged straight out and having to log in again isn't an annoyance any more, just a DAZism I've got used to... :) )

But it still annoys me, and I'd love to see things fixed and working logically.

This is normal - and anoying. You end up on that apge any time you search the store for a product with DAZ Studio in the name too.

I just realized that the info I was after was via the "Read More" link over on the left. Well it should have been, but it wasn't. I've added a bit more to the post with the screenshot...

Are there any restrictions on attaching zip files, like a maximum file size or something?  I can attach an empty zip file, but every time I try to attach the real one, it uploads for a while, but then nothing gets attached.

  • Yes, there is a size limit - how big is your zip?

  • srieschsriesch Posts: 4,241

    9.2 Mb

  • I can't recall the limit, and it's buried in an email, but I think that would be too much.

Ok, thanks.  I tried splitting it into two smaller zips, and this time I got a message that the file was too big, and the max is 2MB.

Hmmph, you had to discover that after I had gone to the effort of finding the relevant email exchange to check.

Wish we had smilies like that here!  These new ones are just so homogeneous and ugly!
