I can't seem to edit my posts under iOS on the iPad.

On a standard operating system you mouse-over the gear icon on the right edge of the post to gain access to the edit function. But on a touch screen there is no cursor, so you can't "mouse-over".

I could swear that a quick tap on the post used to bring up the gear icon, but it doesn't seem to work anymore.

I have a thing against touching my monitors. Something about getting finger grime on a 'photo grade display' and how it changes things (color brightness focus, not to say the rainbow effect, lol).

That's a good point tho, Daz did appear to be making the website more Phone Friendly rather then 'Desktop' friendly. Tho this new iteration for once, dose look better on a desktop computer. Time to look at this new look on the Raspbbary, it's close enough to a phone, lol.

Not intentionally ignoring you. I went to start up Ubuntu-Mate on the Pi2 thing, and ran into a different issue I need to fix pronto, (the power-supply is smelling funny, time to replace it) lol.

Yea, those are nice pens. I'm a tad more 'old fashioned', using a trackball (not a thumb-thing, a real billiards ball sized mouse-trap). And to top it off, the led-thing that worked the scrool-ring burnt out a few years back (aside from Blender, I never used that, so it's not worth spending another hundred dollars for a new one).

Having complaint a lot about the new forum, thumbs up for the latest improvements. First impression on the shop and the forum: This looks way better than yesterday! yes

...when I installed my old ergonomic trackball on the new system, I had to change the compatibility to XP so the drivers would work.  Unable to use a tablet as it's too hard to hold the stylus steady in my arthritic hand, and a regular mouse puts too much stress my wrist.

Back to the new DAZ icon - my first impression was that of a hand, grasping for something. Now seeing it in blue in the store on DAZ Orginals I see a blue-gloved hand about to grab something out of a cart. I can understand (just) the desire for something different, I just don't think this is the correct choice.

I quite like the new layout and logo. I find the layout a bit easier on the eye than the last one. I guess we'll just have to get used to it. The only slight issue I've found is that the attached image partly obscures the Browse button, still works though, so it's no biggie.

I don't visit here one day and this...

Why in the hell is the forum back to EYE SEARING WHITE?  Did too much time pass between the last forum change? I opened the forums and thought the place was hacked... And the logo is now a glob of Playdough?

I really would love to see the other logos that were proposed but lost...

They can make the logo a rainbow stripe cow anus for all care, but PLEASE stop with the friggin white background as my only choice... Do you people hate older folks or those with eye problems?

It is painful to look at.

The forum isn't all white for me. Alternate posts are grey, is it not the same for everyone?

    CHEERS!

  • ChoholeChohole Posts: 33,604

It is still more white than anything, with the side empty panels and the typing panel

  • RogerbeeRogerbee Posts: 4,460

Agreed, must not be a glaring on my monitor then.

Yes, it is alternating cool grey and white...

I get that everyone who has a website out there has to make their website look like the other guy's website or they are not as cool as the other guy, but for cryin out loud... why would you remove the option if you gave someone that option previously?

  • RogerbeeRogerbee Posts: 4,460

Maybe they'll put some options back later, this layout hasn't been up long and they may add things as time goes on.

I noticed when quoting a post, you can no longer type below the post immediately anymore, you have to go back to the old way of finding that red line and clicking on it before you can reply.  Unless it's sporadic and just works sometimes but not other times, or if there's a trick to it I haven't realized yet.

  • ChoholeChohole Posts: 33,604

It does appear to be sporadic.

If anyone has the Color My Site installed on Firefox, Cyberfox or Waterfox or any of the Firefox iterations I will be more than happy to share my settings.  They aren't perfect but they are simple and I have a nicer experience since I got it mostly to where I can feel my eyes relax.

When I first saw the new logo it reminded me of the original Apple logo.

    Seems kind of derivative.

  • This isn't about the forums, which look pretty bad, but I don't see a place to post store problems.  Store search isn't working.  It gives the same results no matter what I search for.

We have reported the store search issue.

So I clicked the email link and the logout loop for a while, then clicked it again and logged in, then it took me to my account.  I clicked it a third time (which usually works to actually get to the discussion thread), but it kept taking me to my account page.  I tried a few times.  I then gave up, thinking that message had been deleted so it didn't know where to go or something (that happens occasionally, one loses a thread) and went on to the next thread which worked fine, but also displayed a message indicating I was logging in (which I had already done a while back.)  So I then tried the first link I thought was broken, and now it works.  So perhaps there's a time limit, or a certain number of tries one must make before an email link will work now?   Or maybe just gamma rays.  Or maybe it's always been like that and I've just gotten lucky until today and didn't notice.

I got kicked out again this morning, please tell me this is being worked on. When we say 'Keep me logged in' we mean it!

I get logged out at least once a day, too. Often on my phone I still have the little blue man with the check, but I'm not really logged in any more.

If you log in via the link at the bottom of the forum page there is no checkbox to stay logged in. You only get that at the top, but that always takes you to My Account. We need that checkbox on the forum log in as well. Also, attached images still nearly obscure the Browse button when you want to upload more than one image.

    CHEERS!

Okay, hands up everyone who got one of those blatherspeak replies from support saying that the entire website had to be double-bright, glaringly blinding white because the old dark theme didn't go with the shiny new rainbow-playdoh-blob logo?

Guess what... now that I've explored the new-look site a bit more, every logo I see on this entire site, from the page header block to the New Face Sale ad on the carousel...

...is on a black or very dark background.

Can we have a real reason, please?  no  angry  no  frown  no

  • As I understood it the majority of users used the light theme, so if only one theme was being kept the light one was the logical choice.

  • SpottedKittySpottedKitty Posts: 7,232

I wouldn't mind so much if that was the reason I was told by Support.

    It wasn't.

And what about all the people who used the dark theme for medical reasons? Just bye-bye and forget about them?

  • MEC4DMEC4D Posts: 5,249

I loved the dark theme ,  best to view the gallery .. noangry

And what about all the people who used the dark theme for medical reasons?

As a workaround, could those who's monitors display white too brightly adjust the brightness/contrast a little without making dark sites too dark?  If that works, that would allow them to fix ALL brightness issues for everything that displays the color white rather than just the DAZ site.   There are probably a lot.  For example, I just went through 20 sites I have bookmarked and commonly visit, and all but 2 used black text on a white background, as well as many of the randomly-selected applications I tried like Microsoft Word and Wordpad, Open Office, etc.  So it would appear that even if DAZ went to the dark theme, that wouldn't help those people at all, because so many other commonly used websites and applications are that way anyway, unless they can convince all those websites and applications to change or find options to change them.  Somebody else in another thread also mentioned some sort of browser plugin that adjusted colors, but I don't know what/where.

There might also be other settings (color temperature) in the monitor, possibly even in some versions of Windows, not sure, those might be of help to some.

Personally I care little about the colours and logo.

What I do care about is forum functionality.

And for me the single biggest problem (here we go again!) is old-style links to individual posts.

So can somebody from DAZ give me a definitive answer - multiple choice A, B, or C:

    A) No. We have no intention of fixing that.

    B) Yes. We have a definite intention to fix it.

    C) It might get fixed, it might not.

I think I know the answer, but would be delighted to be proved wrong !

    {edit: support request raised - #200660 Website - Forums: Links to specific posts created before the latest change don't work}

{edit Nov 2015: 10 months ago it was forwarded to the web department for further review, and I've heard nothing since. Just poked the support request again  :)  )

Is everything fixed yet?  I left for a bit and figured they'd get the forums going right after a while.  The new logo looks like that chained slave woman with the thingies on her head, the one Jabba the Hutt tossed down a monster pit.
