Honestly... I suspect that no matter what they announce, it's probably not going to make a big impact on what I do for at least six months until they work out all the bugs that it's sure to be full of. Or longer. I'm still running DS 4.12 as I just got sick of loading new versions of DS and finding that things that had been working just fine before have stopped working. An artist's tools need to be reliable and consistant, but the way DAZ Studio has been handled ever since DS4 was introduced has been not unlike an artist using half a tube of cadmium yellow oil paint on a mural and then squeezing out a new dab only to find that the tube is suddenly alternating dollops of Phthalo Green and Alizarin Crimson. And, sorry, but when a company still can't get their store to work properly on a daily basis after six years or adequately proof products made for the existing system, I have very little faith left that whatever it is that they're announcing will be anything other than more of the same.
It says 16:00 MDT, which would be 6pm EDT, 3PM Pacific, 5pm Central
...the recent announcement from EVGA makes me now wonder about Iray
B*gger. I was writing a post on this forum and then... Cloudflare went 'bleep, bleep, bleep' and my post was gone. It devoured my post... It was a really good post. Now I'm going to have to write it again and it wont be nearly as clever and ascerbic as the first time.
Aaaaanywaysss... I don't expect the impending Great Reveal to be software related as the verbiage under the youtube video exhorts us to go download Daz Studio if we haven't already... Why send people to download something that's going to be replaced in a couple of days by something infinitely superior? Yes, superior. We all know that software only gets better with time and the longer we wait, the better it gets.
So, if the announcement isn't about better software, it'll probably be related to something nobody actually needs. That's what these 'rumour' events are all about, no? To drum up enthousiasm for stuff nobody needs. Enthousiasm I might add, that only exists in the minds of misanthropic marketeers. Admittedly, I am a bear of very little brain, but I can't imagine that whatever's hooting and tooting at us while we're pinned to the tracks by our hefty G3/G8 asset libraries will change much. It's not going to make the Daz UI font on my 34" screen any bigger, it's not going to load my scenes any faster (14 cores in my CPU... how, in the name of most things holy does it take so laawwwwwng to load a scene?) it's not going to have a decent built-in batch renderer and my rusty 2015-ish Quadro M5000 will still glacially render its way through my painstakingly Scene Optimisered (yes, that's a word) scenes. Which is just dandy fine. I'll drink more coffee and sit on my virtual porch smoking the finest pipeweed in the Shire tut-tutting at all the hasty young folk with their shiny new framebuffers.
I feel much better now.![wink wink](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/wink_smile.png)
Hmm, as "addition to the lineup" it probably won't be any update/replacement like studio 5 but rather something they bought and integrated. We'll see.
Nooo! We need DAZ Sloth 1 and DAZ Hamster 1 first. Oh and also DAZ Otter 1 too!
EDIT: and a new server for the forum software :/
Please don't hold your breath. I'm still waiting for the Red Panda Alessandro Mastronadi mentioned several years ago!
Cheers,
Alex.
Is this the famous "Make Art" button?
Well, that sucks :( I guess I need to learn more about Blender and working with OBJ, FBX & glTF files to expand my purchasing range.
EVGA wasn't the only board partner. I'm sure that Asus, MSI, PNY, Zotac, etc will all fill in the gap that EVGA left behind.
Based on previous announcements probably Underbelly 8.1 NFT only edition.
+1 That would be great.
How about actual proper photographic motion blur not that would be a feature I could go mad with!
Thank you kindly!
"…a jaw-dropping new addition to the Daz lineup…"
Given the Epic MegaGrant that Daz won ~18 months ago, how about an integration of Daz content with Unreal's MetaHuman characters? (I've honestly kinda been waiting for Unreal to buy Daz, given how all-in Unreal are on virtual humans, and how important it is to have a library of ready-to-go content for expanding those humans to all kinds of gaming themes and asset styles.)
I would be even more happy if it was Universal Scene Description support… but I'm less convinced of that given how the Daz Bridges currently work.

My guesses are either a partnership with a major studio like Marvel or Disney but we can't use anything commercially or an avatar/mocap system that lets you use your PC camera to move it or maybe a joint venture with an existing metaverse (FB Horizons, Altspace VR, VR Chat or another?) Or maybe what I've been wanting for a while, a Genesis animal that can be morphed into anything. I just hope it's an improvement and not something that has us all freak out lol.
..they tend to be favoured by many here (self included) for their quality and customer service.
Also EVGA is the second prominent player in the field to split with Nvidia (after something like 22 years), the first being Apple.
Reading through this thread, it seems to me that some people are claiming they know that it is to be Genesis 9. I have not noticed any evidence to back up that claim but maybe the evidence was removed (not unusual) or maybe it is in plain sight elsewhere in the DAZ-verse? All I know is that a G9 announcement will be, for me, a big disappointment because it will herald another expensive re-stock just when I was getting a decent library of G8 content. So I will be ignoring G9 (if G9 it is) for at least a year. Hopefully, during that time, a viable competitor to DAZ will appear in the marketplace seeing as the 3D/CGI technology seems to be forging ahead and leaving DAZ in its wake.
On a positive note, maybe G8 stuff will go on steeper sale.
Yep. Although it is becoming harder and harder for me to find something I really like or need for G8. Pages and pages of fantasy and sci-fi wear that I have zero use for and the quality of the rest is often questionable. I could suggest a lot of stuff but maybe that will appear for G9 and tempt me into that new buying cycle? If so, I hope G9 clothes will actually be completely G8 compatible. All speculation right now though.
It's a morphing Manila folder![cool cool](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/shades_smile.png)

...a Diet Coke™ stain?
Even if it is G9 (a really safe bet ;) ), it'll be a year until there is enough content for it to make it worthwhile anyway ;). So there's that...
Even if those claiming to know it to be Genesis 9 are correct, the name is completely arbitrary, anyway. The difference from 8.1 to 9 could be as little as the difference from 8 to 8.1.
The point d2houdini raises is an interesting one; I had either never known or completely forgotten all about that. For DS to somehow integrate with UE is the most exciting possibility raised, yet. That would mean USD, which would buy us Omniverse as well.
