There are some good ideas in here so far, and some ideas one really shouldn't give the company!
.........................
There's a free giveaway for watching the video ... Rawart is hoping for a release SO, given that when Genesis, which was an amazing jump forward for 3D, was provided a free Gorilla [temporary offer], I'm going to suggest "maybe" Genesis 9 and a free RawArt special something [hopefully for both genders]. Genesis 9 of course requires D/S5.003.045.2 [or something like that], will be the best still rendering program on the market AND also very good at animating :-) Will not require new hardware over and above the 3060/3090 series although should work of course with the new 4000 series. Will include a new, WORKING, Hexagon built in or on the side with a decent working bridge. Will include the fancy Morph Loader PA edition so we can make HD morphs too [maybe not to sell or redistribute save through the store, fine by me], and oh yes, as default poses for figures have a habit of changing, we might expect G9 to be in the fetal position. This will make it easier for the alien transition morphs [maybe]. Comes with A and T posing presets AND ALL the required A and T posed autofit clones [I DID put out tutorials on how to, so hopefully somebody read them] [and include the fetal position autofit clones too 'cause hay] ... and a beautiful Friesian Morph for Horse 2.
All signed up, waiting for the show.

the free item could just be a NFT
Funny you should mention that. Last week I significantly reduced my Digital Art budget and put that amount in my new car budget. And then went out and paid cash for a new EV. Still left a tiny amount in my Digital Art budget. Just in case. :)

A plug in that finally accurately calculates Daz shop % discounts while also allowing money not to be wasted on free items in the cart. If you are a Daz+ member you will also be allowed to apply more than 1 discount coupon to the cart.
Or Daz 5/Genesis 9. Accurate soft body physics would also be good.
Some of you folks are making me nervous, so let me think about this...
Another major change coming to Daz Studio? Could it relate to Filament?
OK, this is just speculation, but I fully believe that Daz 3D is speculating that since EVGA is leaving nVidia, it could cause all other GPU manufacturers to speculate that they should leave nVidia as well.
So to be ahead of the game, Daz3D has decided to drop Iray immediately while the dropping is good. And I'm still just speculating here, but I also fully believe that Daz3D plans to replace Iray with 3Delight, upgraded to be on par with Filament.
Then they will remove one of their more recent embarrassments, that is, Filament. It's brilliant!
the Filament hate I don't get
nobody is forcing you to use it
you used to not be able to render in wireframe either yet nobody is complaining that was also added
its not actually a render node just an optional viewport node and the ability to render all the viewport nodes was added even bounding box if you want it
Maybe the real big news is they've figured out a fix for that so now we can have unisex Genesis 9. Of course, there'd still be at least 8 female folderols made for every 2 male items.
I surely wouldn't want to see Iray go away unless the textures for everything Iray I have can be ported over to something else without a big hassle.
I'm confident that it's going to be Genesis 9, which I won't be switching to unless it's backwards compatible with 8 or it has major advancements that I really want. It might include the DS 5 announcement, but I won't be surprised if not. If it turns out to be just a minor update to the Genesis figures, I'll be hoping the next big announcement after this one is better.
I don't think it is hate so much as disappointment. If I am an example of those who are disappointed it was because I was hoping for something that could rival Blender's Eevee and some of the examples of Filament renders I saw online encouraged that hope. Instead we were given a cut-down version of Filament that is not even close to Eevee and certainly a long way from those rendered examples I saw online.
So if we are getting a fully-fledged version of Filament, that would be something to cheer. But I doubt it. I'm starting to think it will be something connected with NVidia ... Omniverse? USD? Maybe.
What is USD?
Seems like so long ago, doesn't it?
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/on-demand/session/omniverse2020-om1235/
Probably this: Universal Scene Description (USD)
Real long time
I started with Poser 1
Daz Studio 5 or Genesis 9.
Either would be great.
Now that's a long time ago!
It's not hatred for Filament. It's respect for what it's capable of as an aid in setting up the scene, even if it's cut down a bit. Now that I have a GPU that can render in Iray, it's frustrating trying to get the Filament viewport to consistently look decent enough to help with that goal.
So I hope, or wish, the new addition to DS could be an improved Filament viewport. Something that looks and works like a professional piece of software.
It's as if my music-writing software got a nice new rhythm section added, to help with laying out my melody, but it turned out to be cut down to just the metronome. Why would anyone do that?
United States Dollars.
I doubt there will be a Genesis 9 in the next few years, the current gen 8/8.1 eco system is too robust, so much that Daz's livelihood depend on it
I think you will lose that bet.
...+1 on the asessment of G8/8.1. which is the fact behid why I didn't jump on G8 when it first appeared and afterwards, only on characters I wish we had for G3.
...+ Creeper 2.0. and Biguana
...if that were the case. My work is done here.
...yes, the former with optional LAMH settings
..would make building that dual 16 core Xeon workstation a lot more enticing.
If what I've seen is to be believed it's probably the one and definitely not the other. How's that for being specific? LOL
Genesis 9 with all models capable of having rigged four arms. And an entire four arm compatible dforce wardrobe released with it.
And a tail with morphs
Stable Diffusion AI happily gives me 4 arms whether I want them or not but the number of fingers if any varies a lot, often a tummy face too and a missing or extra leg
so take that DAZ and the most beautiful 3D figures out there
your reality is far too accurate, the future of art is text prompted Eldrich horrors
Just out of curiosity, could someone who actually got the email post the text, if you still have it and if that's allowed? For some reason, I never got it -- umpteen other marketing emails from Daz every week, but that one doesn't arrive, of course -- and the Youtube page is wonderfully unspecific as to what time zone it's telling me that the livestream starts in. All it's saying is "September 21 at 3pm." Is that Mountain? Is Youtube translating to my time zone? Is that GMT? What?
