Ok everyone... THANK YOU for your advise... my wishlist now has 165 items in it... mostly Daz originals... some older stuff... the shaders and environments filters helped... I've never had that many items in my wishlist so I am crossing fingers it helps... Wish Daz would have let us know this little 'trick'... I'll keep yas posted ;) Happy Holidayzzzzzzzzzzzz!
Free. I don't pay $2.99 for something that has been available for half that during the past 9 months
I have only a couple of newish items on my Wishlist (I bought or culled everything last year, finishing with the first wishlist sale) but so far almost everything has been standalone (I think there was one texture set for clothes) - it's certainly been less dependent than the Lightning Deals.

Unusally for Iray add ons, they did not require you to own the older texture expansion to use them, only the main product that contains the props.

You just have to render faster... Second computer, perhaps, to work on it while the other one renders?
So far, I'm really happy with my calendar freebies and 2.99 purchases. When I can't decide which, I go with the freebie (cheaper, right? ;) ), but in few cases the decision was tough.

Ha... rendering isn't the problem.. it's finding stuff in my runtime... Nothing is where it LOGICALLY should be... I hate that everything is under the PA name... HOW can I remember who made what? I've got an old brain... lol Takes me forEEEEEEEEEEEVER to find stuff... :(

I skipped the day 2 textures for outfits I didn't have were offered
after getting the M4 character I added about 15 DAZ Originals to my Wishlist

Outfits probably would work too but I deliberately chose interesting HD characters because they work well for close ups in Filament at high rez (with headwear not hair
)

it renders what's in the viewport so subdivision has to be set there not just in render
openGL and wireframe do too BTW
I just like that I can render several detailed characters in it close up animated talking with expressions without taking an eternity like iray would

I read the posts above about creating a little pool of DO characters in your wishlist that may appear in the freebies. I have been playing with dragons just recently and added a few Dragon 3 and Millenium Dragon bits into my wishlist. This morning I was offered the Millenium Dragon Texture set as a freebie. Perfect, something I actually wanted as a freebie. Really nice. I believe it may be called 'Gaming the system'...
I am not, so far, a real lover of G9. However I am a lover of Cynder Blue characters, and one of their textures ('Guilia', slightly modified) is the texture for my favourite custom G8F character. So I was intrigued to see CB Lores as a G9 character. Very beautiful, very elegant and to my eyes seems to be almost the first G9 'Must have' character. The promos are spectacularly well done too, could be photos from a glossy high end fashion magazine. Definitely one to appreciate.

When I see the word "Lores", all I can think of is "Low Resolution".
Me too. I was initially puzzled, wondering why CB was creating a "Lores" bundle of stuff.
I've been gaming the system the same way, but twice this week I didn't get lucky and the free item was something I had no interest in. On the other hand the $2.99 items were from the wishlist so I decided to grab them anyway (keeps me in punches at least).
I'm trying an experiment. I have 8 DO items in my wishlist, and I'm interested in which, if any, appear. The Mil Dragon textures that appeared for free this morning were both the oldest & cheapest items. So.. My cheapest is the 'Queen Anne Parlour Furniture', The oldest is also the most expensive, 'DAZ Dragon 3'. The newest of the 8 is 'Mawei Hair', and the one that's been given away for free before is 'Magnificent Mesembryanthemums'. I suspect the Queen Anne Parlour furniture will be the thing that appears, but we shall see. To be honest, makes no odds to me if any of them do, they wouldn't be in my wish list if I didn't like them all, I just like to understand how things work.

Well. I was offered the freebie: Ysabel for Zelara 8 (not on my wishlist) or for $2.99: 'My Secret Grove' which was an unexpected one of the 8 DO items I had on my wishlist. Conclusion: I just dunno about the rules. Could be entirely random.

I think it's relatively random, but follows certain price limits and 'age limits' of the products in your wishlist. In any case, I haven't had an item for Genesis 9 yet.
I have yet to have one product not from my wishlist, so not entirely random. But there could a threshold to avoid people placing that one item they really want for free in their wishlist to get it the next day in their advent calendar.

Funny, usually, the $2.99 is the one with the higher base price from what I remember.
