...the fact that the majority of Daz+ items are under 5$ and most sales are requiring something priced at 5$ or more cuts a lot of Daz+ items out, So to get the extra say 10 or 20%  discount, you have to buy something in the 12 - 20$ range and then purchase enough sale items to make the cost of the qualifying product worth it.

well if one is not DAZ+ nothing is under $10 if  even near that cheeky you are getting good savings to make up for your initial outlay

just too easy to buy more as a result which I don't need and cannot afford so wouldn't even want a free membership TBH

Or simply don't participate unless there is something you want enough to justify its net cost. Again, no one is going to participate in every sale (well, hardly anyone certainly).

...that's pretty much what I do (particularly since most new releases are G9) and usually just participate in flash sales and the Spring/Fall Daz+ ones.

Oddly I had one "buy in" recently where I actually made an extra 2$ in savings over the cost of the qualifying item (which was a Daz+ one).  Extremely rare.

If there is nothing in the new releases (or whatever qualifies for the deal) that you are tempted by then of course you won't use the deal. If there is something you wanted anyway then the deal, if attractive, is a bonus. Daz of course is hoping to tempt those who were hovering between buy and wishlist to buy - the whole point of deals is to be win/win, so both parties get something more than they would otherwise.

You have a strange idea of a win-win. It is only a win-win IF someone actually wants both but there is nothing to attact the rest who might be tempted by the "Free" or "Discounted" item but has no use for the conditional buy. In that case, it is a lose-lose because nobody gets anything. Personally, I would much prefer sales with unconditional offers - especially these days when I have no intention of buying into G9 content.

That was my point - an offer neds to be win-win. Obviously Daz isn't going to make offers (in gernal, on balance) that are bad for daz and customers are not going to take up the offers thata re not of benefit to them. If a day's offers are not of benefit to you then don't take them up. No one can expect to want, or be able to, to take up every single offer.

Well, yes, exactly ... I don't take them up. I'm not buying anything lately whereas previously there might be other offers (on the same day) that were not conditional. I am not saying stop all conditional offers. I'm just saying that some of us don't want G9 or to buy a New Release of whatever ilk. I'm mystified as to how it can be beneficial to DAZ to turn off potential buyers because, it seems to me, they are so desperate to shift G9 and related content.

  • Same, couldn't enjoy the sale because I have no interest at all in the required new products, last good outfits to me were the AJC Dawn for Freja 9 (and I use a clone to have it on my G8) and the Naomi Cheongsam outfit, from there I couldn't bring myself to bring a new release...

I probably I would buy more from those "$ 5.- buy-in required" sales if thos $ 5.- could be done by buying several items, as quite often the DAZ+ items costing more than $ 5.- for themselves aren't of little interest for me. If I could instead buy two of the cheaper items to get over the $ 5.- I would be tempted to do that... as it is, I'm not

today, there were a bunch of items from my wishlist on sale. 50-65% off. I applied my DAZ+ PA coupon and I was happy with the price, even though, it is very possible one or all of them might be 1.99, 2.99, or 3.99 soon enough. No buy in required, although I could have gotten an additional 20% off with a buy in item. There is nothing I want or need in those "LOVELY"new releases.

That's my strategy. Plus if the promo is coupon free & I happen to have one of those $5 no-strings one Daz sometimes gives me, I see if it works.

I think the biggest problem with the buy ins (aside of them existing, of course) is that they only apply to "today's new items" which is usually a very limited and often partially-themed selection, so if you aren't into lingere, scifi, or some other theme for that day, you buy in selection might drop to as little as 1-3 items to pick your buy-in from. I'd much rather have the buy-in be of all the new releases, because there's a bigger chance that there'll be a new item I'm willing to pay for combined with a sale incentive. Otherwise that new item just goes on my wishlist, and I'll patiently wait until it's 50% off or even more (mental approach of "I waited that long, I might as well wait for a better offer").

I think that if more buy-ins would encompass all recent releases instead of just small selection, people would be more likely to buy new items. And if all releases is too much, maybe some "still new" section that would at least have a week's worth of releases? I think it could help.

I've got items from the "Lovely" new releases in may shopping cart, items that should be 80% off, but they aren't. The sale doesn't appear to be working correctly. They are random prices off, from 44% to 55%.

Oh geez, didn't see that you had to put in a coupon also...

  • All I can say is...

    - Had two orders this month: only freebies.
    - Spend less and less time in the store.
    - Even did forget to use my January coupon.

It's probably a mix: I play around a lot with AI recently so I have less time for studio. I'm still not convinced by G9. Can't help it but I even find the promo art less attractive recently. Take this plus rising prices, high buy-ins and longer periods until products go on sale and you transform a heavy shopper to a sporadic buyer.

    See you in March ;-)

The "GR8-BUNDLES" isn't that bad, yesterday used the code the first time (usable twice) and with $11 buy-in I got almost $300 worth of products for $39 (-87%)
Going to wait and see, what do they come up with in 9-12 hours before pulling the trigger on my second "GR8-BUNDLES" cart

  • TomhipTomhip Posts: 382

    1. Send out" $8 out of $18" weekend coupon.

    2. Proceeds to make all remotely interesting offers require a fixed offer code, blocking you from using any other coupons.

I am genuinely annoyed and ignored the whole weekend sale...

    3. DAZ Extended the coupon to next week. Ba Dum Ts.

    .,.another night, more zlotys saved.

The Space Soldier Suit almost caught my eye until i saw it was for G9. Pity as it's probably the best SF full suit I've seen that could pass as milspec armour for my Shadowrun illos as it  doesm't look outlandishly futuristic or anime.

  • Another "Thank you for showing your support for Genesis 9" offer message today. Funny, I'm a writer & editor as a side gig but I never knew "support" meant "politely &repeatedly declines offers."

its free, right?  The basic pack has 8 sets of textures that are actually good. I finally bought the add on essentials, morphs, etc when I was able to get the bundle for $15 in one of the sales, couldnt refuse, so now I can have some variety at low cost. I've tried G8 clothes and hair and overall it fits G9, so its all good.

  • DAV Sidra HD for Genesis 9 Feminine

    https://www.daz3d.com/dav-sidra-hd-for-genesis-9-feminine

From the Details description "Sidra is sculpted at 4 Levels SubD and texturized with 4K detailed skin.", Level 4 SubD?!  holly cow would bring my rig to it's knees.  No 8K normal map, all textures seem to be 4Kx4K, so now we are deviating from the Gensis 9 listings?  oh this is a PA asset bought by Daz3d so it's up to the PA, well that kinda doesn't cut it when Gensis 9 details ......ugh.. okay.

there are 14 Promo on the product page.  this is a Level 4 SubD scupt morph pack, Geoshell, and 2 textures blue and black.  There is not 1 of the 14 promo shows that show the skin detail of the body, only head shots.  all promos are clothed except the last 2 promos which only show head and some neck.  No teeth morphs, promos with teeth showing look like defualt Gensis 9 teeth, reminds of 80's si-fi with an actor sipping a soda through a straw.  really alien with human teeth, no texture nada, just normal. The last 2 promo shots show the head and some neck and they look streached.  there is a weird line acorss the chest, extra smothing, upper lip looks smooth but rest of face has detials, shoulders have a weird white atrifact and the other shoulder shows it more prodementally, think this is caused by the lighting, but again - without seeing what the skin looks like it just looks odd, is the skin scales?  smoothish? or a combiation of both.  No bending promos, all generally standing pinup posed, all promo shtos are cut at hips, no detials of legs or rest of body.  Hand shot in 1 promo looks like default Gensis 9 hand painted blue with detail around fingernails - skin looks very generic.

Is it too hard to have 1 promo that shows what it looks like on Genesis 9 Male, since Gensis 9 is all about the muti female/male thing.  What does this product loook like on default Gensis 9 , no SubD level , on a male without the Geoshell?

There are 14 promos shots with 3 outfits shown.  2 of the outfits are listed on the product page clearly.  what's the 3rd clothing item?  Why does 1 of the promoshots have a green detailed texture clothing (if that IS actual clothing) - is this the same 3 outfits or something entirely different?

yes it seem like I am being overly picky, I use Daz3d products in other applications other than Daz Studio.  HD doesn't eally do anything for me at all, so I need to know what details will look like IN Daz Studio , but also what will it look like outside of Daz Studio exported, what will I lose, how can the prodcut be used in kitbashing with other products etc.

This is simlar to Josie 9 by another PA and a Daz3d orignal, face makeup, no nails or toes nail colors, no 8K normal, no HD.

Man it's getting hard to figure out what a prodcut is, isn't, how usful it is in other programs etc. no material zones shown on clothing items  UGH.

@MachineClaw: just if you really wanted to know the third outfit:

    https://www.daz3d.com/ekialys-ny-for-genesis-8-females

To be precise, it is a texture addon to this:

Thank you for point that out.  Apparently I own both the outfit AND the texture addon (never realized there was a green mossy texture), that's nice to know atleast.
