I am trying to understand what I would get if I bought something from this? Are they digital trading cards, or is it something I can actual use within Daz Studio, like a model or prop?

They are NFTs for peope who like Game of Thrones and still think owning NFTs is a cool idea.

  • Bragging rights and an asset that depreciates faster than a new car.

  • Laughed at, apparently.  But you're out of luck; according to the article they've already sold out.

There is still stuff for sale on Nifty

They are NFT's...so you get a...link to a picture? No assets to actually use in Daz.

There are plenty available to buy both at Nifty's and Opensea.  In fact, their value has tanked and it costs less to buy them on the secondary market than it was to buy them at release.

They are NFTs and they are already being discussed in this thread in the NFT section of the forum.

They look like this LOL! Also, the gentleman really resembles a northerner from Westeros:

    Doesn't look fungible at all!

Even taking the salad fingers into account and fixing those...the rest of the image looks like it was done by someone opening DS for the first time. The pose is rigid and unnatural. The expression looks like a one-click "mad face". The drape of the clothing looks off. There's just no nuance or artistry to the image at all. Not something that should be worth...$750???

Not $750.  I don't know where that figure came from.  The issue price was $150-200.

Even still. I've charged less for much more artistic fanart.

Good grief that looks terrible! What a joke. Can you imagine opening up the blind box you just bought and seeing that.

And there are some well-known PA's involved in the project who still have reputations to protect (unlike Daz/Taffi/whatever).

    That's really putting it politely.

However, what I want to know is on the Learn More page, a lot of well-known PAs were used in the creating of this little--venture.  Were their assets commissioned or recycled?  Some of the hair/clothing does look familiar (the Dire Wolf, some Neftis3D's hair, the peasant clothing, etc), some do not (the Septon's robes and chains, the Night's Watch outfit, etc).  And it would be such a waste of good products to not sell.  The Night's Watch outfit looks great.  I could see them wanting to charge more for the NFTs if the PAs were comission; those names (I assume) wouldn't come cheap.  However, if their assets were recycled and kitbashed--sheesh.  Setting up editorial licenses for average users, but reusing assets to make these expensive NFTs?  Not opening that can-of-worms.

I think it would be brilliant if DAZ partnered with the Game of Thrones brand, and allowed officially licensed products to be purchased (but not used for commericial purposes).  A Drogon for Dragon 3 or a model that looks like Daenerys or Jon Snow or [insert character here].  I'd buy the H-E-Double-Hockey-Sticks outta that stuff.  Though, that's a topic for another thread.

I believe they used mostly all the DO's from some of those artists.

Sangriart over on the "other" store did a whole series of GoT characters back when the series was new, some quite nice ones too.

There's also a bunch of clothes inspired by GoT for older figures available as Daz+ items.

A lot of folks still love the world for the books.

True, but aren't these designs based off the tv series? the figure used in the promo (night king or something like that?) looks like one of the antagonists from the final season...

I have heard the latest series was well received and did much better with viewers than amazon's LOTR series. Are any of the NFT characters based on the new series?

Yes, but the show is based on the books (rather loosely, plot-wise). But visually, the show doesn't do such a bad job.

There will always be the Koach purses or the Hugh Boss suits, though there is always something nice about owning that actual Coach or Hugo Boss that can't compare.  The unofficial or inspired stuff are quite nice, though.

Quality in the show started going down (storytelling wise) when the seasons surpassed the books.  The sixth and seventh books of the series haven't been finished and/or released yet.  Fans were upset with more spectacle than substance (the last two seasons were beautifully shot--some rivalling big budget movies).  Characters were making out-of-character choices, travel that look nearly seasons to achieve happened in mere seconds, arcs that were built up over the entire series were discarded in casual conversation.  I love the books series, loved the shows but can't watch it again).  House of the Dragon is a great successor, however.

And don't get me started on Dorne.

I know what you mean, but frankly Sangriant's characters are IMO better than many of the things you find here. Not just talking about the monstrosity pictured above, but other characters. Although Mousso does some very nice look-alike work too.

A bunch of PAs here did the same when the show was running and toward the beginning of the series. There were a lot of props too.

    Wait a minute...

I have a crazy question... I was reading a different thread and I'm a bit confused...

I didn't watch GOT (apparently abbreviation is mandatory), and I don't know who that character picture above/earlier is...

Are the fingers NOT supposed to look like that?

I assumed that was on purpose.

I'm serious and wondering about that.

The fingers look like that when the figure isn't adjusted to shape and erc freezed.
  • Ah, so this is what the world would have been like had Professor Farnsworth invented the Fing-Longer...
