Hansmar : thank you. Nice cracks experiment.
Slepalex : thank you. Trees, maybe, there is not much room for them, the idea was to depict another kind of world, a concrete and stone one, with a reflection of the water since the theme was "reflection. You are a specialist in natural landscapes, outstanding by the way. I am not good with trees and other vegetation.
Hansmar - nice experiment with the cracks.
Here's an experiment with cracked mirrors. The mirror is a flattened cube, the texture has a size of 15%, does not cast shadows and is used for Specularity and Bump. Reflection is at 90%. The cracks are a bit on the fine side, could be a bit thicker. Perhaps I'll experiment more later with Hansmar's idea of booleaned objects.
Horo - nice experiment, the cracks are a bit uniform too, besides being on the fine side.
adbc, Mermaid, thanks.
Horo: your experiments also look nice. I guess you will be able to also create the more coincidental changes of direction in the cracks (that occur quite often) with your knowledge of the DTE.
Horo, perfect! No, it's good! The cracks are too perfect, geometrically correct. Maybe it makes sense to make phase 3D so that the cracks change direction?
Oops, I dropped the mirror again.
I think this time some of the cracks look better. But I start to wonder whether cracks can stop before reaching the side or another crack. I don't think so. So, I will have to redo it again. I also checked some actual photos of actual cracked mirrors. Usually there is a center of the cracks, e.g. where someone threw something at the mirror. I'll try that to in my next version.
This version is a bit more logical. But now I notice, that my lines are too wobbly, because cracks are razorsharp. I guess I should not draw the lines directly in the editor of the lattice, but in an outside tool and then use that as picture in the editor. I also played with the colour and the depth (in the mirror cube), because cracks that are deep are darker than the mirror (in most pictures I checked). Still not perfect, but getting closer, I think.
Hansmar - nice experiments, the 2nd example is more promising.
Horo : nice cracked mirrors experiment.
Hansmar : definitely the 2nd example !
Stacked terrains, using a 3D cloud object and Hdri for the lighting from https://www.bryce-tutorials.info/shop/bryce-7-1-pro-object-clouds-2d-3d/ One of the terrains is from this set and the 2nd and material from the https://www.bryce-tutorials.info/shop/bryce-7-1-pro-terrain-stacking/
Wanted to make something with Bryce but had no idea really. Therefore importet thingies from Daz3D and try to give them propre textures. I think IBL with TA without any sunlight gives very nice results. Rendered with TA 144 in around 35 minutes.
Mermaid: Strange landscape render. The clouds draw the attention very much, due to their solidity and colour.
Electro-Elvis: I like your approach: just use some available items and try to make something out of it. Wonderful looks on the faces of both the lady and the dog.
Nice, Elvis...they say you can judge a person from their pet - both are looking in the right direction.
The crack's efforts re: Hansmar and Horo...hmmm...look very, very interesting.
Jay
mermaid - thank you. Very nice landscape with the cloudy sky. The haze at the far mountains and where the clouds meet the horizon does not match.
Hansmar - thank you. Nice tries. It's difficult to get it right.
Slepalex - thank you. Agreed, I'm not yet there.
adbc - thank you.
Electro-Elvis - really good scene, perfect light that matches the overcast sky.
Jamahoney - thanks. Got to experiment more once I've got the courage.
mermaid : strange and out of this world clouds, nice image.
Electro-Elvis : very good image, the lady looks very happy.
Thanks Hansmar, Horo and Adbc for the comments. Horo I see what you mean the by mismatch, well we do live in a strange world.
I started playing with the True 3D rendering, an awesome product by David and Horo for Anaglyph lovers.
Here are two previous renders converted to anaglyphs.
mermaid - very cool anaglyphs. The first is extra cool with the protruding spheres. the second one with the balloons is also very good. Just a bis low contrast.
Thanks Horo, really having an awesome time playing with this product.
Pheeew, Mermaid, had to duck the first anaglyph - those spheres nearly hit me (a super effect, and great optical depth), but as to the second anaglyph, nay, doesn't work for these critical eyes (perhaps long-perspective views don't work well in 3D anaglyphs).
Jay
Jamahoney - mermaid's second anaglyph works for me, it is just a bit difficult because of the low contrast, I think.
I've been using a terrain I wasn't very enthusiastic about (see page 37) and turned it upside down. It makes a nice river landscape.
Mermaid, even without 3D glasses the first one looks stunning.
Horo: how creative! turning things up-side-down to get a new perspective. And a very nice riverscape it is.
Thanks Horo, Jay and Hansmar
I think Horo is right about the low contrast for the second, here's another with default materials for the balloons
Horo - awesome render with a flipped terrain. Nice lighting.
Hansmar - thank you. I often experiment with the surface to hight ratio and even turn the terrain upside down. Things can look very differently and one terrain makes many.
mermaid - thank you. Oh yes, the 3D effect improved considerably.
Thanks Horo
@mermaid010: What a pity. For years green/red glasses lay around in my office. And just now I can't find them :-( I'd love to look at your pictures with 3d effect.
Ah that was it, Mermaid...I see the 3D effect now...very cool (the first is still my fav).
Horo, reversing the terrain is defintely 'thinking outside the box'...or should that be 'thinking upside down outside the box'
Jay
mermaid010 : still no 3D glasses, anyway your first render looks great.
Horo : Stunning riverscape.
Jamahoney - thank you Jay.
adbc - thank you.
