LOL @jakiblue   I hadn't even shopped yet. Your post was the first I knew about Aiko 8 being released. I did test getting just the Starter Bundle, because it has the three things I would be interested in (none of the poses, I don't need hair unless it's really different from what I already have, the outfits aren't anything I would use or I already have similar.)  But the price difference was probably 50 cents compared to Pro due to getting add-ons. As for the add ons, I really love the sci-fi casual outfit Aldebaran X-49  because we have a lot of full, pants length outfits for the future, but not many fun girls-night-out outfits to choose from. And the materials are cute too.  (Put a / behind the url if you get a 404. Store is still acting up.)

And I really like VYK Rose's materials.  And P3D Riza has realistic materials, as usual from P3D. I've known for a long time I'm a character collector LOL.  Think about switching around the morphs and materials on all the Aiko characters, you'd have a lot of fun.

Want to do a few shoutouts-  take a peek at some of these other Art Studio thread renders. Many of you have already seen them  but those of you who surf in to my thread from notifications may not explore other threads in Art Studio. (If you do, you've seen these.)  Would just like to encourage those of you who don't, to see the great artists who are regulars in the Art Studio. It's of course my favorite section of the forums

@stormlyght    Click    Lovely postwork and posing. Lovely everything!  And of course, the render Trish posted here. Spectacular!
@worldsedge   Click  A cute modified Sasuke. I like it better than the original!
@ladair   Click   Lavender never looked so good!
@rgcincy   Click   So good- I just wanted to get out of there!
@darwinsmishap   Click    Christian wearing Liam's skin
@serenenight   Click    The bathtime is really cute.

Posting these in the favorite gallery/Art Studio thread here in Art Studio.

Running short of time. Sorry I won't be posting much this week, I'm moving furniture due to furniture coming in, have company this week, staying over at Mom's. A funny story- they took Mom's temperature, and the nurse frowned and wanted to check the thermometer. So she did.  Then she got another thermometer, same results. She was running a fever too!  (Home she went! Said she felt fine, but everyone laughed at the look on her face. You know, the "What the heck..." (substitute a word in there)  The hospital TOTALLY screwed up Mom's discharge papers. Prescribed a med Mom was listed as being HIGHLY allergic to, didn't send prescription for the cough pills (Mom's facility got ahold of their own doctor at 9pm) didn't send test results, didn't know what had been done when Mom's nurse called to talk to the nurses who took care of her, etc. Calling the Patient Administrator today and lodging a complaint.

I really like Aiko 8 but I'm going to wait on her.  I just can't justify another character no matter how cute she is. I like the add on characters and I like the hair and the sci fi outfit but don't NEED any of it.  I am very interested in SF=Designs skin script but have to wait on that one as well, I might be able to pick it up at the end of the month catch up sale.

I often wonder what happens to people that don't have family to intercede for them when hospitals and doctors don't do their jobs. I am sure that people die from that kind of incompetance and negligence all the time.  So sad.  Really glad your mom has you looking out for her!

Aiko 8 has the mature anime look lots of people like. I’m kinda not into it but it’s not because the model isn’t nice or the pas didn’t do a good job. I just feel they are a bit stylistic for me. Plus with no mature anime male in the same style she’s limited in usability for me. For some reason most of the male anime characters tend to look kidlike while Aiko looks like his older adult sibling

    Completely understand.

Something I just realized, and will mention in case you didn't catch it too. The number of add-ons lowers the price, NOT having the PRO Bundle in the cart. The Pro Bundle drops the RELATED ITEMS by 30%.  DUH. So it's cheaper for me to just get Aiko and the ONE outfit from the Pro Bundle (Sci-Fi Action Outfit, both of those come to 23.77) than to get the Pro Bundle $33.06  with things I won't have time to showcase (won't use them otherwise, have similar things or would never use it anywhere else, like a fantasy maid outfit.) as I have too many other things still waiting to be shown to you.

Follow along. 33.06 (Pro Bundle) minus 23.77 (for just Aiko and Sci-Fi Action Outfit) is 9.29 difference. I'd rather spend that $9.29 on the characters I want in the Add Ons (Rose is 4.64, Riza is 6.99, so 11.63.) So by not getting the Pro Bundle, I'm using that $9.29 plus only spending $2.34 and I end up with Aiko, Rose, Riza, and the Sci-Fi Action Outfit for what I'd be getting the Pro Bundle. I picked up the Sci Fi outfit textures, Aldebaran X-49, its textures, and all that was 48.34.  70% off.

So share how you're calculating what to buy? Going Pro, or bits and pieces with the add-ons?

So glad you are there for her!!! After having our mother in the hospital, where we traded shifts to have family in her room with her 24/7... Well, most of the docs and nurses were fantastic, but some of the errors were potentially deadly. I literally had to stand there a few times and refuse to let them do something without checking. Gee, should you pump someone who doesn't have diabetes full of insulin? Give a medicine that their sheet says they're deathly allergic to? Give blood pressure lowering medicine while the blood pressure is already tanking? (The nurse refused listen on that one... Ended up with the crash-cart scenario and almost losing mom right then.) Sigh... NEVER LEAVE ANYONE YOU LOVE ALONE IN A HOSPITAL - no matter how good it is. We had docs coming in the wee hours of the morning that had been in surgery and rounds since the previous wee hours of the morning. Of course these people are going to make mistakes! Overallm, most are great, but they are SO tired and busy!

End of rant. Pardon... Walks off sheepishly...

     Nah, not a rant.

My sister from Jacksonville is going through file cabinets, paperwork, etc this morning with Mom, so I can run a few errands before I head out. Sister helps with taxes each year, so I just stay out of the way LOL.

I just wanted to get my Aiko decisions out of the way this morning so it worked out.

NOTE: You overpaid if you bought earlier, by 10%, if you own the Edward Pro bundle. So all those prices I showed are too high. I already submitted a ticket.

I picked her up once the 10% for Edward Pro was applied to my cart. I'm doing a test render now. smiley

This is a partial render of Aiko 8 using a pose and expression, clothing and hair from the Pro set. The clothing is textured from the textures add on package. I'll pop back as soon as I can to list the items, but I'm in the middle of preparing dinner at the moment. I love her and snapped her up as soon as the shopping cart started to behave itself. smiley I'm relatively new to Daz Studio, so for me she is a lovely addition to my models.

Actually, there is a bit more to it than what you've pointed out. Specifically, to get that 33.06, (or $29.75 if you own Ed,) you also have to have FOUR addons in the cart. I checked it out, (before Ed's 10% kicked in,) and the minimum cart total to get the best price on Aiko was $47.72, (or, using my calculator so I don't have to recreate the cart, $42.95 if you own Ed.) so the difference without Ed is $23.95, or $21.56 with Ed.

Or in other words, even after adding in Rose and Riza, you spent less money, not a couple dollars more.

And I'm only mentioning this 'cause I know you're tired, and I thought you'd like to know you actually came out ahead!

Does anyone have this modeling tutorial from V3Digitimes? It looks promising with a PDF tutorial as well as a video. https://www.daz3d.com/easy-modeling-and-morphing-with-blender. And it's on sale now...

I have it - to me it was well worth the money in getting me to the point where looking at Blender it just 'clicked'. I've learned a lot from it and ended up with a much better understanding of Blender.

That's good to know. As I recall, I bought it because of positive comments on it. Plus I really like that it's not just videos, but included the PDFs, too.

Really loving @lyoness  LY Sugar and Spice Girls HD for Aiko 8 promotional renders. Quite fun, colorful, and full of action. The girls' personalities are indeed varied and she showcased that quite nicely. The postwork with the "magic" really gives it some oomph. Kudos!

Just a reminder- if you're a PC+ member, you might not want to buy everything today. Remember all those "add a new item and get..." discounts? That could pop up tomorrow and then you wouldn't have a PC item to trigger it. I've learned to wait on PC+  items as they keep their discounts for awhile. I may get one or two if there's a good discount for that day, but I keep at least one in reserve.

Also, the Bubble Suit for Genesis 8 and 33 Shaders by @marshian has some fun renders too. The gal shooting out of the bottle, the Bubble Punk vehicle,  the dude coming out of the firepit- quite fun!  Do read the print in the promos as to what you can do with the bubbles. They're very versatile- there's groups of them. I love the vendors that give fun opportunities and take a risk on products that they know everyone won't want/be able to use.

Thanks for the spotlight Novica!  Here is a render that didn't get used in the store. It's one of my favorites. I'm not sure why it was left out.

Angelica for Genesis 8 Female          Calista Tail for Genesis 3 and Genesis 8 Female(s)

The Calista Tail hair is very nice, lots of body. Shown out of the box.

Angelica has definite texturing, her skin cheeks have irregularities which may appeal to some people and not to others. These renders went full time (45 minutes, which is long for my computer) at 98% conversion, with a high number of samples and time. I think lighting will be the determining factor as to how noticeable the cheeks are. Anyone else render her? I think softer lighting or even outdoor/HDRI lighting she will look different., but even in the promos you can see the stark patterning. I picked her up February 9th for $3.38 so thought it was worth getting to showcase her and see if those cheeks were as seen in the promos.

Edit- the lighting is high with an ISO of 137.20 and Exposure Value of 11.10. I rarely go lower than the 13's on EV. So she can look much darker, and the cheeks won't show as much.

Edit- just had a question on the lighting- (that was fast!) it's Pro-Studio and light is 14L.

Most of the time, I will slightly sharpen the images, I just removed that so you can see the cheeks without any of that. It's still really irregular.

I'll be offline most the day with furniture deliveries, Mom, company coming in to town, so again, not ignoring you if you post. Thanks all for helping to showcase the new products and other products. I'm trying to do a variety for you of new releases but things (we all) bought during the past few months.

Rendering Alondra for Monique 8  for you right now (while getting ready for the furniture delivery at the same time.) Will have her in an hour or so. I'm using the exact same lighting and settings.

    Hi @Novica

Thank you for showcasing the character and hair. I have both but haven't rendered them yet. I'll have to try out them out soon.

Here is a render of Alondra as well, although its defintely a mood piece.  She has stunning skin.

  • IceDragonArtIceDragonArt Posts: 12,548

And Angelica.  You can see that the different lighting really makes a huge impact on how light or dark her skin looks. For the record, those eyes are not included in the base character lol.

Thanks @icedragonart   Here's Alondra, same settings as Angelica. With Vertigo Ponytail (Gen8F)   No sharpening of the render, it's out of the box. I tried to use the same eye color as Angelica. Alondra has some really nice options for that. To be fair, Alondra has neat nail options that I forgot to mention. Quite a variety.

Is it just me or do the eyes seem cloudy? I don't think I've had lighting do that before (and as you know, I use Pro-Studio for most of the portrait showcases so there's consistency for you.)  I'll do another render and add it here, I'll rotate her and see if it just happens to be THAT particular angle that caused it.

I think its her.  If you look at the eyes in mine you can see that they look a bit cloudy as well.

Here she is, rotated. Same lighting. Same cloudy. Will try another Pro-Studio light.  EDIT: Did three other lights in Pro-Studio and all do the foggy eyes.

Try adding a bit of light in diffuse mode to the eyes, some models with cloudy eyes require it.
