300 is "lucky" - mine wa going below 100, which is just nuts. Oh well, I'm sure regular speeds will be back in what, 20 days? LOL
My speeds were high all day. I downloaded (DIM) throughout the day yesterday. I was waaaay behind in downloads.
One thing about Sakura- her materials really have a high gloss. I didn't mess with them, but depending on the lighting and what you want, you may have to get rid of some of the reflectivity.
Kirie for Sakura 8 Long Pigtail Anime Hair (Gen3F / Gen8F) Denim Jumper Outfit (Gen8F) Apartment Living Room and Patio Jacuzzi Shoot First Corner
Trying to render some things I bought during the sale (and some weren't) due to the catchup sale. If you have some items you've recently gotten during the sale, feel free to share.
In the store, look at the thumbnails for Long Pigtail Anime Hair, and if you look closely you will see the jagged section on top of the hair. I did not postwork this so you could see it. Look at where the bangs connect to the hair on our right. It doesn't seem to show up as much on lighter hair. I did not do smoothing, I wanted to show "out of the box."Just be aware so you can smooth or postwork it.
It's also jagged a bit further back. Click to enlarge, click again.
Kirie takes Expressions very well.
I wanted to try Shoot First Corner as an outdoor set, as the lounge cushions look industrial/outdoors. The stainless steel reminded me of outdoor grills so it seems a fairly good fit. I did scale it down so it would tuck more into the corner by the door. Note the walls are white, I did gray the materials as there was washout with the white and it was also a bit overwhelming for Kirie with the very pale skin.
I also grayed the railings around the jacuzzi, and added a medium blue to the water. Otherwise, it was a bit washed out, and definitely too gray for my personal preference. I also did a grayish blue for the container of the tub For those of you who aren't good with tweaking water settings, this one looks good out of the box (except for perhaps that color change.) I didn't explore the interior of the apartment.
I just have to point you toward a really fun render by @diomede. Take a look at the book. Found the link to the freebie book- with pages that can turn, done by Diomede.
Say hello to Aldo HD and Mustache for Genesis 8 Male Striker of Shadows Outfit (Gen8M) Odin Hair and Beard (Gen8M)
Aldo should be in everyone's runtime if they want a weathered, experienced in Life character. I went for an Old Masters type feel, muted, with adding a green overtone in postwork and the lighting is fairly green too.
EDIT: If you want the hair to match the brows, here's the color code I used on silver hair: 153 / 101 / 94

Oh, my goodness. LOVE that render, too funny! And thank you for the heads-up on how good Aldo is. I'm adding a few G8 characters that really add something worth going past G3 for. I'd love Sakura, but I can't justify her yet. Still staring at her, though. Edward was a must-have.
Thank you for the shout out. Really appreciate it. Just a heads up that the book figure has some inconveniences. I plan to make a 2nd version of the book freebie. I made that one before I used Daz Studio very much. For example, the hot point of the book for rotating, etc., is on the ground. The pages don't have linked posing, so you will have to pose yourself. Didn't realize that at the time because I wasn't creating scenes and rendering in Studio myself. Now I know. Anyway, in the current version, you can apply any image to the cover or any page. The UV maps for those are all square. So, if you render out your own cover with a 1.5 to 1 ratio, load your render in the diffuse channel for Cover 1, then scale the book to 1.5 to 1. The covers have multiple bones if you want a magazine effect instead of a hardcover book.
Okay, with discounts today and my PC coupon, the Sakura Pro Bundle was $18.07. I could not resist!!! Must stop looking for more bargains!
As tempted as I am by some items, I'm waiting for Faveral's MICK Gothic to be released, and - with maybe some PC+ items - that's what I have left of next month's budget.
And Liam is still in the MM sale, so here he is! Please note, the lighting has a strong green tint, so the eye whites were rather green. I put a bit of white back in, so some of the details of the whites show up less. As usual though, DarwinsMishap does a superb job of intricate details in the eyes. So just look past the color correction, the details are there. Liam has several eyebrow options, this is option 2.
Love the stubble in the Classic Side Part Hair product. Adds a touch of beard but not overdone.
Liam for Edward 8 Classic Side Part Hair (Gen 3/8) (also used the stubble) Alt Style Outfit (G8M)
That's a convincing image! I was debating but now I'm sold on him.
Yep. If I'd waited one day, I could have saved another … wait for it …95¢ !!!
LOL
(None of the other prices of items in my cart changed, except for the Dandelions, which I would have bought yesterday regardless. One does not wait on a Flash Sale!)
Hyuna for Genesis 8 Female Ayako Hair and Bow (Gen8F)
Hyuna's materials are more yellow, I changed the White Point to 228 / 225 / 207 which is a light yellow (which takes out the yellow in the render)
I also decreased the reflectivity bump and turned up reflectivity for the lips, they're more matte. For postwork, I increased the saturation. So Hyuna is going to be a bit paler with less color than what is shown here.
Hi Nath,
Just for information, MICK gothic is done, but I'm in the process of making presets for it (cathedral, church, hall) and it's gonna take a bit longer. Factoring in about a month in QA, it probably won't be out till mid April. I hope this helps you manage your budget :)
It certainly helps me with my budget! Now I can contemplate grabbing a few more items in CatchUp knowing I don't need to hold something back. Looking forward to the set(s) though,
I'm still debating whether to grab Aldo (and use a PC coupon) or Liam - although I'm not too sure about those large pores between Aldo's eyebrows compared to the rest of his face.
Mind you, I'm even less keen on the edges of that chainmail - if he leans forward those half-rings will probably go all over the floor!
Your Hyuna looks good - I'm pleased because I bought her recently but haven't had time to render her. Also that hair. All I've managed this week is to spend a lot of time playing with Stonemason stuff I picked up (relatively) cheaply.
Here are a couple of views of The Streets of Venice rendered in 3Delight. I already had the other Venice set, but I've wanted the Stonemason one sincce it came out - and I love it. Please ignore the stuck-dummy appearance of the tourists - I just threw in the first G2F/G2M's I found to save messing with their skins for 3Delight use (the G3's generally load as Iray) and barely made a effort to pose them properly.
I also got The Streets of Morocco but the only finished thing I've done with that is a photoshop-effect-heavy view over at DA.
I ended up getting Liam, the Hover furniture and the X-Fashion America outfits tonight. May post a render or two in my thread later on.
ETA: I hate autocorrect sometimes...
@melaniel LOL that's a fun expression. Stuck dummy! I got the giggles looking at that pointed finger.
And yes, those pores are large, and so are the ones on top of his nose.
@novika I know you have a "thing" about eyebrow shapes. Did you know Sakura's eyebrows have like a million morphs to play with? You can thicken, change shape, etc. I played with it to thicken up Sasuke's brows (he uses Sakura features).
Here is a closeup of Bradbury Suspended Rail System. That's Giuseppe being an action man. I'm in the middle of another render with a Daz background (the one in the render here is a pixabay background). Afterwards, I'll try to get some more long distance shots for here. Anyway, I think it has great texture and looks very realistic. I'll try to get some inside shots too, but I don't know if I'll have a model inside and making them sit/fit is sometimes difficult.
This, is totally awesome! LOVE this render and wow what a great sense of movement and action. Even his hair is co operating!
Oh, that is great! (Except I still kinda want it now ;-) )
Looking forward to playing with it! And thanks for your answer.
I like that one world's edge. nice work!
I think Aldo is going to become one of my favourite characters. This is my first render of him.
Used:
Very Nice!
Thank you
I've learnt so much from reading these threads and Aldo is such a good character.
Thanks SereneNight and IceDragonArt It took me quite a while to get the pose right but I'm happy with it so it was worth it. I'm trying to work towards some more complex scenes.
@worldsedge He looks great! I love the details on the Suspended Rail System. (I had picked that up too. Haven't rendered yet.)
@mollytabby Really nice lighting and posing. Aldo looks very dignified and impressive.
It's 6:15am here and I'm off to see if I can catch a pet rabbit I encountered last night when I drove over to see Mom. It came out of the woods by the road. After a bit, I managed to pet it but it didn't want to be picked up and I didn't have anything to put him/her in. Going to try and see if I can find it again this morning, before the road gets busy and people get out. Fortunately the road is closed due to construction but once that starts up tomorrow, he'll be scared and go in the woods. So off I go! (armed with carrots and Stetson's timothy hay/alfalfa pellets.)
Reminds me (without doing any searches to confirm the look) of Anthony Ainley playing Conceillor Tremas in Doctor Who.
