I have to agree! You can take something and make it 1100% unique, which is cool.

My Daz wishlist is 90% shaders.. lol! And a few monsters and some stuff to make Genesis-based monsters as well.

My Rendo wishlist looks like the prop list or a Stephen King or Clive Barker movie!!!! (evil grin) I always have everything I need to work on The Vicky Chronicles, but I'm sadly lacking in Victorian/steampunk gear and horror settings.. easily fixed.

Graveyards, and coffins, and demons.. OH MY!!!! (ahhh emote)

started a new sims petz game. i evicted everybody and bulldozed all the houses. muwahah
need to compact everybody into fewer houses to make room for more families.
i think the only way to get the Townsends and Hardimans to live together, someone has to get divorced first.
and while they're in the realestate office, a couple of makeovers. and replace the pigpen dogs with snootier personalities.
except Presto Parker, i luv Presto.

Maybe I need a virtual girlfriend, like in one of those Japanese dating sims. I'd save wear and tear on myself, not to mention the expense of multiple dinners, having to work my way through dozens of women to find the best one, and potential issues with my love of stuffed snakes(lol) and fish (lol)!

There has to be such a thing for lonely geeks no interested in going out of their computer room.. lol!

@Rezca: I think the postal service, at least, has gotten better in the past couple of years. But part of that (or maybe most of it) is likely due to the fact that people are using other shippers for a lot of packages, and are paying bills online. I got a new mouse (my Logitech Revolution MX was no longer charging) and it was the free saver shipping, supposedly 5 to 7 business days. I got a notice that it shipped, and would be here by the 3rd. But it arrived the next day, on May 31! I was quite pleasantly surprised, and very happy. The old MS Explorer optical mouse was driving me crazy...so unresponsive!

    Dana

    I suppose so ^^

Though I also mentioned some time back a package I ordered (That did not have tracking information, and thus they would not be able to alert me if it was delayed or etc) that estimated it would arrive AT LATEST 5/1. It's been well over a month since then, and nothing has come. I double and triple checked the address and it was the same as the one that two books were shipped to with no problem, and I've never had issues with this seller before - not even a day late sort of problem.

All I can assume is something went wrong, but I never got any email about it so I dunno what happened.
Yeah and that "At latest" bit? They estimated 4/14 - 5/1 for the shipment at 5 -7 Business days (Which was the only shipping option they had *shrugs*)

Have you contacted them about it yet? I wouldn't have waited this long, honestly. If they told me 5/1, I'd be on the phone by 5/3 asking where my package is. You can't be angry at them now, they haven't heard from you so they probably assume that you got it. Unfortunately, UPS doesn't have to get a signature anymore. They used to always get a signature, even for a $10 package. Now they just drop it at your door. I don't like that. I think most of the other services are the same now. Unless it is specified in the shipping instructions to get a signature, they don't bother. And yet they charge more for their service now, but give less service.

I haven't installed 'em yet, just hoarded them, but I think those carts etc were for original MilHorse, not for DAZ Horse 2. CauriB has done MilHorse UV remap for DAZ Horse 2 plus MilHorse shape, so you can try to use them with DH2.

Also, looks like my server update was successful, at least so far. Gahhhh, so tired, soooooooooooooooooo tired.

Thank you. I don't have the DAZ Horse 2, that's why I asked.

I'm glad you got your server update done! Now go take a nap!

Ok, major complaint rant, probably a bit technical for most folks but this is giving me major indigestion! (angry face)

When you ship a product, it's called a RELEASE. You take the source code, tools, and everything else used to make that RELEASE and you store then away somewhere such that they can't be messed with. This way, you can reproduce that RELEASE *exactly* and should anything go bad in the future, you have a known good milestone.

What you DO NOT FREAKING DO is have 3-4 "release" versions floating around, all different, with the supposedly "golden" one NOT BUILDING. You do NOT skip saving the tools or libraries, thus making it *impossible* to reproduce the supposedly working code. You do NOT skip putting things in source control because "it's too much bother".

And the boss is upset (not with me) because Mr. Certified Professional Engineer decides to ignore 20 years of best practices because it's 30 minutes of extra work. And the production manager is upset (not with me) because there's no way to reproduce the working, shipping code that has been going out the door for the past year. And I'm upset (at everyone) for not bloody having the brains to spend the extra 1-2 days it would cost to do REAL RELEASE CONTROL and PEER REVIEWS so that I don't have to sit here and blow several days trying to figure out who screwed what up, how badly, and whether or not I can even fix it!!! (very angry violent homicidal face emote waving an axe).

    Fehhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Ok, rant done.. back to work for me (blank face)!

When I worked at COMDEX we made a zipped backup of every single production release (the source code)that went out, with a date and version number, and daily backups of the database. We could go back to any working version in short notice. I never can understand that mindset. If you don't have the time to back it up properly, how are you going to find the time to re-do all the work?

But, at least you have job security!

This is a small shop - a total of 5 software engineers - but the median experience level here is 14 years! (bug eyed) There's ZERO excuse for anyone with more than 5 years of experience to NOT run a relatively tight ship.

But yeah.. gives me plenty to do, keeps me busy, plenty of extra goodies to add to the resume.. uuurp! Not so good for the digestive system (barf face emote).

I think it's going to be TACO TUESDAY!!!! (dancing egg emote)

The bus tonight drops me off right in front of the local Mexican place, I'm going to load up on tacos, have some tonight, and the rest tomorrow, wheeeee! Tonight "North America" is on Animal Planet, a great nature documentary about the whole North American continent.

Tacos, beer, and documentaries.. now that's my idea of fun!!! (big grin)

..of course this might also explain the lack of a girlfriend.. heh.. (red face)

    Minor whinge/rant:

Wow, the price of going out for fun has gone WAY up! Two years ago, when I was hitting the Summer festivals, admission was usually under $20 or you donated 3-5 cans of food to the local food charities. The SAME festival this year (Pecan St. Fair) has gone to $50! WTF PEOPLE?!!!? For that $50 I can go out for a top-end meal,or have a movie and dinner, or hang out at Bikinis and eat wings and drink beer for 3 hours while being served by bikini-topped waitresses! And Bikinis has A/C and sports TV!!!

Thank heavens the Austin Hot Sauce Festival in August is the same - 3 cans of food for the local food bank is admission (I always bring more). I think I'll save it up for the hot sauce festival.. ugh.

Between that and $10 movie tickets, blech! Suddenly staying home seems like the best deal! (meh face)

2 hours 25 minutes and I can go home, wheeeeee!

So many things on my mind lately.

...same here (again). Odd I' will get dropped from a highly active thread like this one or the Stupid Thread, but then will get an ebot for a thread I haven't visited in months.

Oh and more site stupidity, when I clicked on an link in an ebot for one thread this morning I kept getting directed to my account page instead of the thread. Going on thirteen months and one would think they'd get a clue by now this software is a lemon if they (devel.) just took a little more time to peruse the forums.

...and once again found myself signed out this morning. At the very least, after all these months, one would think they could have fixed the Forum sign in page so it actually shows up rather than being routed to the store one all the time.

Maybe they need to assign a separate person to handle forum support tickets because this kind of rubbish has been going on far longer than it should have.

The only reason I can keep up is that I have vast spaces of dead time at work, while waiting for the tet folks to get me results. And that's not always the case, so some days.. I miss a lot.. (red face)

One hour 25 minutes and I go home for tacos and beeeerrrrrrr! (grin)

...arrrgh, I know the feeling of being set up to fail because someone didn't care to do their job right.

Used to have this senior salesperson where I worked who preached about following procedure, until it came to herself. Often times she would give us few if any specs for a new job, then a day later, would burst into the department like a Category 5 hurricane to read us the riot act because the job needed to drop within the next day even though she never cut a proof request (required by department procedure for any new item we printed or one that is revised which was the Account Manger's responsibility). Then, there were times we did exactly what she specified and she would contradict herself saying it was all wrong and our fault even though we followed her instructions to the letter. It got to the point that I nearly walked out after one of her tirades over something fairly insignificant (that was due to lack of information on her part), and finally requested to my manger that she no longer was to have any direct contact with me if he wanted me to stay.

...still want the old smileys back.

The only good part of this is that nobody is blaming me - my boss, the production manager, all know that I got handed a crock of poop to deal with and I'm doing the best I can with it. The original engineer is long gone, the guy that took over didn't bother to go back and do the right thing, and my boss is pretty upset at the guy (can't blame him). But it's still a crock and it needs to be fixed.. ugh.

I'm soooo looking forward to a cold one tonight, and some nice documentaries (my not-so-secret vice is nature shows).

...you have a much more understanding management than I dealt with. Hopefully whatever my next job is, it won't be one where I have to deal with such "Jekyll & Hyde" rubbish anymore. One day you're the darling of the company, the next day you're their goat depending on what side of the bed they got up on that morning.
