Yep. "It is probably best known in the United States for the advertising campaign created by the New York-based agency Amalgamated, introduced in late 2005, with a futuristic "spokesbot" designed by Stan Winston."

    Everybody has seen Metropolis

    Never heard of it until now ^_^;

Oops, cross-posted with you due to my slow editing. Just for the fun of it, here's an old render of mine, my tribute to the Metropolis robot. I made the robot by doing unspeakable things to Vicky in Wings3D and rendering in Bryce. : )

    Nicely done, tjohn (^_^)d.

Heh. If you're talking Mad Men or Breaking Bad, that's quite the compliment.

Of course, if you're talking 2 Broke Girls or Whitney ... how dare you, sir?!?

I was thinking you might create the next Star Trek or Doctor Who ... or The Archers

Try following the comment from "John", KK... create a DAZ plane (Create -> New Primitive -> Type: Plane, size whatever seems appropriate)... select the thing, Surfaces tab, Opacity Strength pulldown, and Browse... to wherever you unzipped the file. Playing with Diffuse Colour then allows you to do different colour smoke, and the plane can be rotated/scaled/transformed wherever you need it relative to the camera position.

(ETA: just making a sample swatch now following the above procedure)

    So basically they're like billboards?

Yep, they are (and if you parent them carefully, you _may_ be able to get them to automatically be orthogonal to the camera... though I'm not 100% sure about transforms...).

Here's the first 9 - by default, when you load them into the Opacity field only, they may be a bit too "wispy"... to make them stand out in front of the bricks a bit more, I put the same texture into each of the Opacity Strength, Bump Strength and Reflection Colour fields, in an attempt to make them a bit more "solid". Alternatively, I would guess you might want to combine two or three of the textures together (or stretch them out a little taller than wide - these are all square planes I've put them on...). ymmv v(^_^)v.

no one can puff a smoke ring like Gandalf

    Complaints!

    - It's Monday (bad enough in itself)
    - Going to hit near 100f today and be humid
    - Broke until Wednesday
    - Sleeeeppppyyyyy
    - DAZ still has no emotes! (angry face)
    - Only canned soup for lunch
    - Need to recover from 2 weeks of insane stress

    Non-complaints:

    - Wishlist getting smaller and smaller (smirk)
    - No boss in the office until Thursday (heh heh)
    - Plenty of nice sausage at home to eat tonight and tomorrow night
    - Making serious headway learning all the cool things DS4.6 can do
    - Hot coffee! (big grin)
    - Good progress recovering from last 2 weeks of insane stress
    - Foot doing well after short weekend walks around (big grin)

All in all not a bad start to the week. I still have a lot to learn but I'm getting there! (cheesy grin)

I need to consolidate all my DS-only content into a single runtime, it's across 3 right now and finding all my shaders and materials is a pain in the caudal peduncle. I also need to find someway to download and install only metadata, urgh. I should read up on the DIM and see if it can't help me out a bit in this... (blank look)

The chocobos of Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy XII have to be my favorites. They were so mischievous and cunning in Tactics (Sans Tactics "Advance" where they looked goofy), and I loved the animation when they use "Choco Meteor" on someone. Hard to describe, but they've got such human-like qualities (So to speak) in that game ^^

And of course they're simply gorgeous in XII - especially the ones with armor ^^ Sucks to be on the receiving end of a Level-99 Red Chocobo's wrath though!

Trickster was an awesome chocobo though. He uses Choco-Meteor too - and it's not pleasant to get hit by! He's the only white chocobo I've seen I think... Can't remember if Tactics A2 had white chocos in them or not...

    Speaking of white chocos:
