ohhh i remember chasing the Trickster in the ice and snow. trying not to use spells near frikkin ice elemental. lol, what a battle.
Mmm.... In Final Fantasy VI there's these creatures called "Dirt Dragons". They look like a tyrannosaur o3o
I will say that critter is endowed with plenty of teeth!!! (ahhh)
Chocobo!
My second-favorite thing that begins with "choco-"!
Urgh, argh, blech. The collection and identification of artwork and other 3D assets needed for my Next Big Project. P a i n f u l.
I need a bunch of steampunk stuff, Old West, Victorian England, and as many monsters and horrible critters as I can get my hands on, plus aged materials, VFX stuff, etc. etc. - a LOT of which I already have, and a lot of which I've identified. But, dang, all the infrastructure work is going to mean massive coffee consumption!!! (gulp)
This is all related to Project Argentum Noctis, which I've decided over the weekend is going to be my main creative focus, because, I want to do it!! It's a steampunk horror Webcomic, and I know it won't make me a penny, nor will it make me famous, nor will it replace my day gig - but it's painfully apparent I'll be writing code for a living until I die, so.. might as well do what's fun outside of work and stop beating myself up for not being a successful writer!
I'm still going to do short stories and the like, but no novels - I can't sustain my writing past about 24 thousand words before I start to feel like it should all have been finished 10,000 words earlier. Meh. Such is life.
Tools will be Wings3D, DAZ Studio 4.6, and Comic Life for the art, Scrivener for the script. I intend to create a Website specifically for this comic but that has to wait 2-3 Paydays, until then I'm going to start a Blogger blog and post notes and progress there.
My day gig is stressful enough without me sweating about things that WERE supposed to be enjoyable. Feh! (feh emote)
Blech, back to coding... (blech emote)

I'm pretty sure Anne McCaffrey would sue my butt off if I made such a thing, although maybe it's covered by parody.. hmmph.
Still, a great concept! It'd be sooooo easy to take this all too far.. (chortle, smirk)

Chicken Rider costume. Now everyone will want one.
Just realized this should have been in the Stupid Thread.
She's dead, Jim.
Not really. I've started using DIM now it seems to have settled down a bit - all it will do for you is download (and update) stuff, and unpack it into a Content dir of your choice, wherever it was packed up to go (ie Materials separated from Props, stuffed in author-named subdirs etc etc). You still need to play around in the Catalogue (or the filesystem) to reposition everything as _you_ wish it. DIM does not help with that. What it DOES do is avoid the need to run a million installer EXEs (if you have already downloaded them).

Oh wow, I had no idea. Sad. (sad frown) I liked most of her works.

Ok, that makes sense. I'm going to have to go through some Catalogue tutorials to see about setting up entires that are purpose-specific, like lights and shaders. Having stuff scattered all over bugs the heck out of me when I'm looking for that SSS shader I just *knew* I had.
So much to learn.. sigh. But the end result should be worth it!
THE VICKY CHRONICLES WILL RISE AGAIN! (bug eyed emote)
FYI, I made several install dirs for DIM to plug stuff in, like this and then mounted those directories as content folders in DS. To me, this is easier.
Right now my rumtimes are broken down by vendor with a couple of Daz-only and Poser-only directories. I tend to rely on search to bail me out (heh).
I'm going to pick up a new USB external drive in 2 weeks and back up everything I have, then start considering ho to optimize my content for Web comic creation. The Vicky Chronicles is comedy/fantasy, Argentum Noctis is steampunk/horror, so trying to hack things up along those lines may/may not be the best idea.. I'll have to play.
Worse case I'll write an app that scans all my content and creates a cross-referenced database of ALL content, extracting a smuch metadata out of the Poser-format files as it can. It'd probably take me 2-3 months to hack out something in C#/.NET for Windows but it might be worthwhile as most of the CMS tools out there have big blank spots when it comes to wrangling massive numbers of assets... (blank face)
Geesh, I need a beer and it's hours and 15 minutes before I can go home! Waaahhhhh!!!!
Oh wow, I had no idea. Sad. (sad frown) I liked most of her works.
Aye, a great loss it was. I have almost all her books, some in first edition, and some even signed. (Yes I did meet her, a lovely lady). Unfortunately the ones she signed for me are paperbacks, not my first editions.
I feel like taking a nap but I hear napping can worsen insomnia.
It does generally tend to throw your sleep cycle out, if you nap for "too long", yes. I hear something like 17 minutes is the maximum "safe" nap time, otherwise you won't be able to go to sleep in the evening.
Never quite got confident with the Search - I had my runtimes broken up similar to Skiriki, although parented one higher with a DAZ-content, RMP-content, RDNA-content, and Freebies-content. Of course I'd _then_ make a "tmp-content" to temporarily unpack things to poke through to see what they were... and never get around to moving the tmp-content into one of the others, so my scenes ended up referring to stuff in tmp-content, aaaand... >_<. Time for another wipe and reinstall (`_`).</p>
THIS time around, I'm leaving the Content trees a mess (courtesy DIM), and going to try playing with my categories with Valentina. We'll see how it goes (~_~)x.
PS Misty, did you notice these little guys were on flash-sale?

Heh, no "run time" since the last chipotle chicken burrito! Oh, that was more I/O than I wanted.. (bug eye emote)!
I miss Finder. AFAIK it doesn't work with DS4 at all (giant frownie)
Thanks for notifying, SMAY was on sale as well, so I grabbed something nice!

Heheh yeah, I ended up getting the Mavka bundle (already had the hair, so it's about 50c savings), Nata, and some leather jacket textures. I'm curious to see how the two girls will mix into the Genesis "gene-pool" (^_^).

Ctrl-S/Ctrl-Q didn't work? no hardware flow control? >_<... hope you avoided buffer overruns though - they can be... messy >_<.</p>
If I make an animated short movie with Genesis and Horse 2, would that mean it is automatically for kids? Some people seem to get the idea if a movie was completely done CGI it must be a kiddy thing.
Why? oh why do people think that? it drives me crazy!
They think the same when it comes to puppets.
Then I show them "Meet the Feebles".
Problem. Effin'. Solved. Forever.
Complaint: Technicolor™ yawn this morning after breakfast followed shortly after by the other thing. :O
Was nauseous all day. I tried to go out for a bite of dinner, but I got a little warm and dizzy, and had to come back home without eating.
Not really that sick as long as I stay still and rest; fluids stay down OK. Looks like 24-hour something. Hope everyone else is well.
Oh geeze, man, get better soonest! (comforting hug emote)

No flow control, and high-speed DMA direct to the port! (bug eyed emote)
Bits.. everywhere.. (cry)

Ufff... lucky you didn't get any memory corruption. Sounds like everything reinitialised okay though... retuned the parameters downward somewhat?

Once the queues flushed, the hardware resynchronized and all I/O operations resumed normally with regular throughput... (red face)
*siiiiigh* This OS upgrade is taking aaaages... Wish me luck, I really, really, really need some right now.
