is there a way that daz can add floor pinning so we can keep our animated characters feet pinned to a set floor level . that is a great feature in Maya I would like to see daz adopt.
1 dynamic cloth
2 particle system
3 better smart content
4 better integration with iRay
4bis better textures management with iray and better texture conversion from 3dl to iray
5 3Dligh upgrade (the full 3DL I see at their own site is quite better that the one I see in daz)
6 network render (for both iray (already available at nvidia but need some integration with daz) and 3dl )
7 real fur/hair etc creation/management/render
What I mean is a feature like Vue has. After setting up your scene, you can decide which objects receive (or don't receive) lighting from the sun, spot lights, etc. This makes it possible to (for example) illuminate only one object in your scene, not all of them. Or I can add a light which doesn't affect the ground, but only (for example) buildings in a scene.
How much longer do we have to wait until the IK system in dazstudio is replaced or fixed with something that is worth for the animators?
And a better work out of Graphmate and Keymate become Dazstudio basic timeline with easy key frame manipulation (delete, replace, copy, paste, mirror,....)
Also genesis 3 face bones, easy fast control the bones with powerpose or new face control before M7 launch.
Will this finally be fixed this year?
double post, deleted (seems you can only edit post but not delete it)
Posts are never deleted, they are just moved out of sight.
I'm sure my wishlist items have been posted already, but rather than read through 40+ pages I'll add them anyway just in case:
1) Cloth dynamics for auto-fit clothing -- this is my biggest thing. Many clothing items can look unnatural even with the great morph dials the PAs put on them
2) Shift-drag cloning of items in a scene
3) Ability to move multiple selected objects without first grouping them or parenting them
This would be truly excellent.
I'd like to see Smart Content get a bit smarter--first show the compatability-listed files, then autofittable stuff, possibly with a shading/color diffeence (e.g. Pretty Dress for G2F shows up first, then after all the other G2F stuff, Lovely Dress for Genesis). I'll put G2M armor on G2F (and sometimes vice-versa), and having to unselect a figure, add it to a scene, then attach it to a figure is annoying. If I saw that content (but was aware it wasn't optimized for the figure) and could put it on the figure (via the autofit dialogue box) with a click, that would be really nice.
Ditto this. The reverse IK system is poor enough that I only use it very early in pose settng. If I am anywhere close to have other parts of the pose settled (say I'm posing a hand after getting the legs/torso right), I can't trust that it won't do really weird things to everything else, undoing my previous work, unless I lock everything. And even then, the paths it finds are much worse than the IK systems I've worked with in other software. From a technical point of view, it feels to me like the least well-developed area of DAZ Studio.
Support for standard mouse movements--panning, zooming, etc. Whenever I jump to DAZ from Modo, I try to control my camera with the mouse and it doesn't work like I expect it to. Going to the screen widgets is annoying.
It never seems to lock for me; locking imo should mean it cant move under any circumstances.
Window>Workspace>Customise, look at the bottom of the dialogue and you can customise the modifiers to use modo-like controls. You are, however, limited to holding down standard modifier keys and mouse buttons so you can't mimic the ZBrush set-up, for example, wheer releasing a key part way changes the behaviour nor can you use the space-bar or a letter key as a modifier.
I am fairly happy with what they got, but I think these several features are quite realistic to intoduce (save for the last one):
1) Layered animation such as in P-r program.
2) Ability to animate more than 1 figure with single puppeteer pin.
3) Improove the shader baker to bake somthing more useful with bump maps and per-pixel lighting, to create quick draft animations using OpenGL that look somewhat presentable.
4) Fake physics like Flex (weights attached to vertices with inertia proportional to the weight). That would allow secondary motions without complicated (and unnessesary) workflow of real softbody physics (not mentioning the perfomance).
5) Gamepad control of puppeteer, and just arbitary figure parameters.
6) Animating controls and puppeteer pins via 2d camera tracking, but thats a bit much to ask.
any news?
I´d say some news would be in order since Daz has a new logo so DS should update with that new look at least if not any other new functions : )
If you are reffering to those "layers" in Poser
they are, infact, rubbish compared to the full version of aniMate 2.
I use Iclone pro with 3DXchange to retarget motion
to Daz/poser figures so the foot pinning issue is solved for me at least.
I wish DS had the ability to Drag Items to the viewport creating a custom HUD of scene elements like we have in maxon Cinema4D.
Also 64 bit version of the lipsynch plugin please.
Plugin support for Maya .ma files or a least an fbx that works.
physics.
dynamic cloth on anything
and especially hair
Import for Bryce files. Particularly since I can no longer get into Bryce on my primary computer. I mean, it's not like you have to ask permission to access someone else's proprietary software.
And speaking of accessing someone else's proprietary software, I keep running across excellent models which are posted in .max format. It would be outstanding to be able to import those as well.
Considering that the program is free I think that it's pretty decent already but since you ask,
Dynamic cloth and hair.
Proper IK
Drop DIM
If I am not mistaken the "tag" system in the Content Library still does not work properly.
Realtime tonemapping for Iray (similar to Luxrender)
The ability to stop a render in progress, save the raytracing data and close the entire program, and resume later
Autosaves, to recover from a crash
Built in dynamic clothing engine
Strand-based hair tool
Support for importing camera solves, matchmoving, and tracking data from programs like Mocha, PFtrack, Blender, etc. is the biggest feature for me. I want to take animation into live action shots that incorporate camera movement.
And improvements to Mimic would be #2 on my list. Lip syncing characters is the other big weakness for animation. Don't limit us to using just the live microphone. More accurate phenomes, .dmc files for every Daz figure (I'm looking at you Dragon 3), and more refined controls would all be pluses.
Wow... looking at the comments, some big list items. Oh well... I have read all comments so its probably been mentioned before already.
Lensflares!
:)
A LuxFound MODO bridge :)
Well while we are at it, how about a 3D Coat and Silo 2 bridges??
I'd love to be able to choose or not to choose to install Iray textures. I don't use IRAY, and would love different installers for 3delight and Iray so I can only install what I need
Multi item collisions for smoothing.
Faster loading.
Save incremental (just adds or increments a 3 or 4 digit number to the filename).
Auto versioning of figures. Basically, every time you save, it will also save the figure to a file that has all the changes done so far. By "all changes" I mean it keeps track of EACH change done between saves. Having the ability to turn off, disable or revert previous changes would be nice (sorta like Photoshop's history, but on a save by save level). Also being able to take changes in one character and apply them on another. Heck, I wouldn't mind something like this for scenes as well.
Better content management for add-ons. I can't find half the add-ons for different products. For V4, it's a lost cause. For G2 and G3, it should be better. A vendor should be able to add a metadata tag that says their product extend a specific other product. So when you're in the original product's content, there should be a way to see all of the add-ins right there in that folder. Virtual folders or links would suffice.
+1
Looks like dynamic clothing is one of the more popular requests. I'd love if they did that.
I only started using Daz over the past couple of months but here's my take:
I wish the Scene Palette interface was more intuitive. Simple things like adding a Lock option next to your Scene items so you can't move them. I know you can lock them in Parameters but to me it makes sense to add it in Scenes as well. Also, turning off the visibility of a parent item should hide alll the children items too. (I recently found out you can do it using Groups, tho, which is good but it seems like an extra step)
Better content organization. A lot of time is spent hunting for items, materials, etc. It gets crazy when vendors like to put their stuff in a subfolder of a subfolder.
A way to super impose your reference image as the backdrop (but it's not effected by you rotating the camera) This would be handy if you see a pose from a photograph or artwork that you want to use for your character.
