...so I have a question, probably a silly one, but here goes.
As all characters for Genesis 1 are effectively nothing more than full body/head morphs for the base Genesis figure, am I able to transfer say Teen Julie to G2F or David 5 to G2M using GenX2/GenX2 for Genesis2?
Thanks for all your help on transferring Mulberry, I finally got it to work. This is Mulberry on genesis with the mulberry skin transferred with TC2
Do I need to uninstall the Gen X files I already had, then?
Yes! Uninstall GenX and GenX add-ons.
I don´t use DIM, but i read somewhere here that it automatically deletes the old genx ?
And when you said “files” do you mean ” the transferred morphs”? :)
It is not mandatory delete them (the morphs), but it is recommended that they be transferred again because apparently the result is better.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong. :P

DIM will delete the old GenX if it was installed by DIM. If you used the installers, use the uninstallers to rid previous GenX.
It is right, you don't need delete the previously transferred morphs, but there are improvements in the conversion algorithms of GenX2, so maybe you want convert the morphs again.
Took me a second to remember how to transfer via a CR2 that doesn't have a pose injection for the base figure, but I got it (drop in the custom CR2- have all the hidden controllers etc enabled then transfer on for non zero as normal).
Here's XinXin (A3) with some minor adjustments that I then ERC froze to the transferred dial. G2F on the left, XinXin on the right.
The A3 dial used is the one that GenX2 auto converted when I did the transfer. I'm not completely happy with the lips, but I was tired of messing with it.
Too bad there aren't any Gen3 UVs for G2F. I really like the pale color of XinXin's mat.
...none for Genesis either. Any Gen3 character loads with what is called a "Default UV" which is not transferable unless one has a major investment into TC2 and it's associated plugins (which for PC users is now a dead end as any further development is for Mac only).
There are a lot of A3 and original Sadie textures I'd love to use with Genesis/G2F/M
We need someone to create a new utility along these lines that will work with both Genesis and G2F/G2M and on either platform.
There's Texture Converter made by Blacksmith3D, but at the moment it only goes from V4 to Dawn (it's sold as a standalone or as part of Blacksmith3D). BS3D also has projection painting so you can load two figures side by side, set one as the source and the other as the goal. I never bought it though so I've never tried it.
...however Blacksmith3D is more a texture paint as opposed to texture transfer application. Don't have a steady enough hand to do that.
In any event is is a more expensive solution particularly if you need more flexibility for a single project.
A few answers to earlier questions ...
Lyone: I tried a few expression, works as it should for me with Genesis 2. Only requirements are that you set the correct source figure and that the morphs used by the expression have been transferred. The target in the presets tab is used only to check if the morphs are there.
Alfinin: Right, no need to install the old version before using the new one. But you need to enter the serial number in that case.
Kyoto Kid: Sure. GenX2 will transfer any kind of morph, be it full characters or small details. It even transfers all the JCM and other hidden stuff and keeps the dependencies, so e.g. when transferring Hitomi, you can still close her eyes thanks to the correction morphs working in the background. (Of course, you also need to transfer the Genesis morphs to open/close the eyes.)
Okay, I am new to Genx2, and so far, it is awesome, however, I have a question.
I am converting a lot of M4 characters to Gen 2 Male.
Is there a way that I do not have to load morphs for M4, Freak, and ++ each time I convert.
Is there a way to save that as a base figure?
What I'm doing is basically loading M4, then dragging those morphs over and then dragging the character injections. Is there a way to not have to load all the initial ones each time.
I apologize for the basic nature of this question.
If you click on the 'select' and choose 'transfer off for all' AND 'zero all' it will put the figures back to the point where ++ is loaded and you can just drag the next one and rechose 'transfer on for non-zero figures'. It's not one click, but it's a lot faster than reloading the figure and injecting ++ again.
Hi Dimension 3D, I'm very sorry but I can't get it work. I tried to transfer all the V4 morphs with V4 Morphs++ and V4 Base morphs, then to transfer expressions for V4 to Genesis Male in the "Presets" panel but it still doesn't work. I have to do something wrong. I see now that I'm using "single morph" in the "Transfer" panel. Maybe I should use another one. Which one should I use? Selected morphs with defaults? with properties? with controller? with preset? create controller? create preset?
Best regards
Hey,
I just did this with i13 Animal Instinct and Under Pressure V4 packs, and I went through the transfer panel instead of the presets panel, which worked fine. Now I have dials in pose control for all of them. Maybe try that rather than the presets panel?
My options were: create single morph (if you'd rather have a preset, that would probably work too although I haven't tried it), edge, and transfer on for non-zero.
...thank you. Not sure if I also needed the Genesis Gen5 Body shapes for G2. On an extremely tight budget and GenX2 along with the GenX 2 Add On for Genesis2 will be my only purchases for the entire month. Thanks for the upgrade break on GenX 2, that really helps a lot.

Thank you very much for this mini tutorial. I tried it. I see that only one expression is transferred evev if I choose all the expressions Group. I f I try i13 Spicy expressions Group for example, it is transfering only one of the expressions. Is it normal? Do you transfer all the expressions one after one or are you able to transfer all the i13 Under Pressure Group? I don't have i13 Under Pressure, so I couldn't try with that.
Again, thank you so much for your help.
Best regards.

I went one by one, and reset between each one using 'zero all' and 'transfer off for all' before adding the next morph. It took about half an hour for a thirty pose pack, but it's a one off time expenditure since the expressions are then saved. There might be a batch way, I just don't know what it is if there is one.

Thank you very much for your help. I agree with you. Even if it takes time, it's worth it. You can find some kind of batch system in the "Preset" panel. That's why I tried to use it but the expressions are not transfered as dials, so you can't play so much with them. You have "static" expressions, not dynamic ones. But it's great that you just have to select all the 30 expressions at the same time of the "i13 Under Pressure" for example and in one click you have all the 30 expressions transfered.
Best regards.
I am also getting an error when attempting M4 to G2M transfers. I get no error at all when I attempt M4 to G1. I have M4 for G2M installed as well as Gen4 Legacy shapes for G2M.
The error message is:

Hi first I want to ask forgiveness for my bad English
Secondly I would like to help me I am having problems passing angel for v4 to G2F help me
That's what the projection painting is for. It's like a giant clone stamp tool. You select an area on figure A, and start painting on figure B, and the texture is transferred.
Found the video. In BS3d it's the Texture Transfer Brush
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JH7lS17BT6Y
Also, BS3D is a suite of tools, not just painting. It does morphing and more. It works with any OBJ you can think of.
Both ported to G2F, Rebel Mommy’s Sapphire and Mihrelle’s Jules have a disagreement about the quality of the last Twilight movie.
So, I can transfer a V4 character that has morphs for a Girl4 character with this, and not just the base character?
Sweet!
This is really kind of confusing though...Not really intuitive.
My first attempt was a fail...My lilbit character looks like the creature from the black lagoon...
Must have missed a morph.
When this is done do we need Gen2 maps and clothes from that point on?
I think I saw someone converted M4/V4 poses this way, that would solve a lot of problems for me.
I hope it works!

Thanks so much! You were incredibly helfpul! Now I will try transferring some M4 expressions.
Transferred Blackhearted’s Girl Next door character available at Rendosity to G2F. Everything went smoothly.
Here is my attempt at a blatant rip off of the main Girl Next Door promo image using the G2F version. I also set the Girl Next Door skin texture up to use the AoA SSS shader some time ago.

...yeah, but being unemployed (and having no benefits since the beginning of January thanks to our elected officials dragging their feet), even 99$ for the basic version is just a bit too steep.
SereneNight: You can also load M4 in Poser or DS, inject all the morphs, and then save it as a new CR2 to the library (Poser) or export it as a new CR2 (DS). A CR2 with binary morphs will load fastest in GenX, while the standard M4 with the ExP system is slowest.
Lyone: "Create single morph" will merge everything into one morph. This will not work with poses or expressions translated in the "Presets" tab. You have to use "Selected morphs" to transfer the morphs used in the expressions as individual morphs.
temporal.ranger: The batch way for expression poses is to transfer all the requires morphs using "Selected morphs" and then using the "Presets" tab to batch convert the expression poses into presets for DS.
yellowviolent: Does it work to convert morphs from G1 to G2M? Because there is no M4 clone shape for G2M, GenX first needs to transfer the clone shape from G1 to G2. The error message means that GenX either doesn't find or can't load the "GenesisClone.dsf" for G2M. Most likely, this is caused by having an incomplete install of G2M or having two versions of G2M in different content libraries, and the one that GenX is using is incomplete.
First, look if the file "data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 2\Male\Morphs\DAZ 3D\Base\CloneGenesis.dsf" is present in your content library. If it is not, your installation of G2M is incomplete. If it is, look if the file "data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 2\Male\Genesis2Male.dsf" exists in more than one content library. If so, change the order of your content libraries in DS to have the one with "CloneGenesis.dsf" to be first.
RAZ-626: How did you transfer the morph? With "Create single morph"? I don't have that character, so I can't try myself. But my guess would be that the pose file contains additional adjustments with scaling and translation parameters. These are not transferred by GenX in the "Transfer" tab.
For the eyes, you can use the Presets tab (with nothing but "Eye transforms" selected in the options) to create a preset that will set the eye parameters. Or you scale/move them manually to fit. For the lower jaw, you can correct the position with the lower jaw translate morphs located in "Face / Generation X / ** Fix **".
jdavison67: You can use V4 textures on G2F with MallenLane's "V4 for Genesis 2 Female". And you can convert V4 clothing to Genesis 2 Female with the same product as well.
Hi Dimension3D,
Thank you very much for your explanation. I tried "Selected morphs" and the morphs are now transferring very well and they work very very well with Genesis2Male. Thank you so much for that!
I read what you answered to temporal.ranger, about the batching process. I tried what you mentioned but I didn't succeed on batching several "dialed" morphs. I mean by "dialed" V4 static expressions that I wish to dial (to make dynamic with a range value from 0 to 1). I'm not sure if I understood well what you wrote to temporal.ranger. Is it possible to transfer several "dialed" expressions at the same time? If it's possible, could you please explain me how?
When I use the "Presets" tab, I can't choose to put the expressions in the "Actor" location. Consequently, the expressions will not become dialed. Am I right?
If I want to dial (make dynamic) the V4 "static" expressions, I have to use the "Transfer" tab, and not the "Presets" tab. Am I right?
But if I use the "Transfer" tab, I can only dial one expression at a time. Am I right?
I'm asking, not because it's a problem for me to transfer the expressions one by one, but to avoid loosing time if there is an alternative faster way.
Best regards.
There is no batch mode if you want to create a dial. The batch mode in the Presets tab will create preset files that you apply from the content library.
For a dial, you either use "Create single morph" to merge all morphs into one, or you use "Create controller" for a dial that controls the individual morphs.
Hi! This is my scenario: with the previous version of GenX I transfered an A4 character to Gen1. Now, I just want to transfer the head shape of this character to Gen2 using GenX2 from the Gen1 character: how can I do it, please?
(Or, importing it directly from the original A4 character maybe would be better...)
On the left, the original A4 character, on the right the Gen1 one converted with GenX

Thank you very much. Now, I will continue to play with your fantastic product.
Best regards.
