I'm definitly still doing this wrong, lol. I got some crazy zombie/demon eyes going on (which are actually pretty cool TBH, but pretty sure not the effect these are supposed to give). I used the sweet HD morphs for the eyes, my character is at sub-d 4, used cornea buldge morph, and the Green 9 iris color. Do I need to change the sclera as well? Or use the other settings? Maybe more lights, I only used two emissive lights and no HDRI. I attached some pics to show what I used for render settings, and also the finished render.

I'm not an expert, so I hope I don't come off as arrogant or anything.

For "Thin Wall Off" here is what I did to eliminate "Zombie Eye" iris & sclera.   Be interested to see if works for others, or just something on my end.  DS version 4.10

    After changing them:

If my workaround is disruptive to your topic or in error...  Just tell me to mind my own business and I'll edit it out.  laugh

  • Haven't had time to mess around with these again just yet, but I have tomorrow off from work and plan on diving in. And I get what you mean about studio being wonky, I've had issues in the past. I have two machines, and with one I need to close DS before I render anything or else it will always default to CPU. I can't even move a finger on a character without it getting all cranky, but if I load in a saved scene it works wonderfully. This render here I did wasn't on that computer, it's on the one that behaves a little better, but who knows?

All I can say is thank you so much for all your work, and for you quick responses, I'm sure all our questions are getting to be tiresome. As far as these taking too long to render as some have said, I don't think that's really the case, my 1070 was able to hit 15000 iterations in like an hour and change, granted the image wasn't the largest in the world, but it wasn't tiny either. This is really a beautiful set of eyes, once I figure out what my problem is I'm sure I'll get lots of use out of them. Just the morphs alone are beautiful! Thanks again for your patience with us all!

P.S. I'm serious about liking the crazy demon eyes, lol. Gonna have to use them like that on purpose sometime.

    Thanks for the pdf guide

    @chevybabe25

Thanks for taking the time to do the pdf. I think my test results speak for themselves vis-a-vis Natural Eyes and Project EYEray. One could certainly do more testing but I'm satisfied that the render times for these two (complex) products are virtually the same, all else being equal.

I'll be keeping Natural Eyes. I think it's complementary to Project EYEray since Natural Eyes colors are more  . . .  natural (who'd a thunk laugh). Project EYEray's color choices tned to be a bit more "fantasy".

@chevybabe25, Through process of elimination, it looks like the HD Iris morph (lacrimal is fine) is what is causing the duplicate error message for the male figures.

    Thanks for the .pdf guide.

I sent in an update yesterday, and I am just waiting to hear from the tester at this point.. so hopefully a dim pdate soon for everyone.  Im really sorry about all this - I should have opted for the quicker rendering option to be default instead of the promo ones.  I just hope alot of you guys give the product another chance.

I think the product is great. Quality eyes take time to render. Obviously, the options you mentioned for faster rendering make sense when there's noticeable distance between the character and the camera. But for a closeup, it's just going to be awhile. The results are lovely.

I never gave up.  This is a great product but it takes time and patience to get it just right.  Thanks for the enhanced instructions

    Same here!

And I do not even use Iray at all... those maps and HD morphs are awesome all by themselves.

Even if you don't use any of the Natural Eyes settings, there's still having 60 really high quality iris maps.

Exactly; I will be buying for that reason alone.

Thank you for working on the updates and the PDF, that's really cool of you! :)

I'm enjoying the lovely eyes you've created! I think they're "dreamy". hehe :D Thank you for the great product!

Here's one more render from me. I should have added some more light, as the great detailing of the eyes gets a little lost in the shadow, but still lovely eyes, imo. :) Thank you again for the work you put into this!

Got a much beter result this time, tried them on a different character with a different color, still have a bit of grain in them even though it went all the way to 15k iterations, lol. Gonna play around with them some more, but I really like the look of them, even if it takes me a bit to learn the best way to use them. Maybe I should try shinning more light onto them, I usually only use a small mesh light and point it at the eyes.Does any one know if there a way to make the render go on indefinitely? Maybe 20k would work better, there're so close in this image

@brimstoneomega "Maybe I should try shinning more light onto them"

It's all about the light. Here is a 4829 iteration with just the default HDRI.   A crop of the eyes is attached. GTX980Ti.

I just was patient and let this render all day.  Also used all of the pointers in the pdf guide as well. And placed a direct eyelight as well

I ran into a slight problem with these. I'm getting the Duplicate Formula error when they try to load for Genesis 8 Male, ex:

    2018-10-13 12:04:45.289 WARNING: fileinput\dzassetdaz.cpp(5970): Duplicate formula found linking zOrigin & Value in C:/Users/NgEeXnT/Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio/My Library/data/DAZ 3D/Genesis 8/Male/Morphs/Chevybabe25/Natural Eyes/Natural Eyes HD Iris.dsf.

    That looks beautiful ALLIEKAT!!!

@Visuimag-  The product has been updated/ fixed by myself, just waiting for Daz to put up the new file :) Not sure what their hold up is.

So just a little fyi - updated files are apparently all set ( for quite awhile from what I understand) .  You just need to redownload the product.

Love this, sure it takes longer to render close up; at a distance it isn't an issue, but still looks good

Hi I wondering if I make something wrong, I only use scene lights and I don’t have any good eyes there. Today I only use Dome light in Environment Mode and Camera default light no other lights. Then I get fine eyes. I made some few changes in Environemnt and turn on the scene light so that as I increase intensity and Lighting resolution I see the eyes more and more darken in the eyes. So is ti right that The natural Eyes don.t work with only scene light?

  • chevybabe25chevybabe25 Posts: 1,274

    Heythere ,

They work with all lights. Please check out the included pdf for instructions on how to utilize them the best for your needs :)

    Hi,
I have try everything you said in the included PDF but no success, I read the PDF very carefully many times. I am on mac if that makes the problem. What I did after that was I follow some of the above comments about set Share glossy input to off of Eye Moisture and thats make the sclera shows that it hits of the light and I also turn one reflection on and then the Iris show its color, but a light ring then sees between Iris and Sclera.
I see that all other part of settings belongs to the eyes are set the Share Glossy input to off except Eye moisture and Comea. Is that right?

@attfara_9c7bd629f0 There are several options.  If you are running an older computer and are getting the "black eyes" when they render, Try following these steps:

    Select your figure.

Select your eye color and double click.

Scroll down to the options folder in the natural eyes , and double click on "cornea and moisture thin walled on"

Then render how you normally would. Do not mess with the reflections options.

    It should render fine.

If you are trying to use the fake cornea reflections :

Follow the same steps as above.

Then, double click on cornea reflection of your choice.

Then double click on "Glossy Off"

If you are using Iray, you realy shouldn't have a need for the reflections, as the dome provides a nice reflect in the eyes.

Hi My computer is old 2012 but it is a mac pro with 12 core 3.06 GHz and with nvida GTX 1080 so it is very quick, I have done what you suggest with Thin walled on so I know what I can get that way but I want do it with the default Thin Walled off and with only scene light. I am artist painter and I use Daz3d as model for my paintings so I don't need a image that is 100% fulfill natural in every detail I can fill in my self what needed. You don't answer questen about Share glossy input?
