Okay I have updated the gallery. We currently have 7 entries. I have added mmalbert's Night Riders to the NAE section but if she changes her mind and wants to enter a pre post work entry we can move it over to the entries. Please take a look and make sure I got everything correct. Sure hate to misspell anybody's name or hang their picture upside down.
    The link.

This is what the rule says:

    3. Base figures (V4, K4, Genesis and M4) don’t count as a purchased item or a freebie and may be used as needed.

If it had said "(only V4, K4, Genesis and M4)" then I wouldn't have asked my question. See, I wasn't sure if this was an example list of base figures or a list of the only base figures allowed.

As it turns out, it's okay to use the Mil3 figures that were at download.com for years -- which included H3, and I'm pretty sure he came with all his morphs. So maybe these should also be listed? If the rule is written as something like "Only these base figures are allowed in the contest: XX, YY, etc." then there's no room for confusion or argument.

I'm more bewildered by what I see as the randomness of the "free/not free/was free but isn't free now" than anything else. I already mentioned I can do what I want within the stated limits, but it probably won't be as much fun.

And now, feeling guilty for asking questions, a NAE to return us to our regularly scheduled program.

very nice mmalbert. I see what you mean by some of the freebies not really being seen. If you can get enough that CAN be seen and do like cho said and submit the non-postwork one and then show us the postwork one I think music may accept it. You will be judged on the non postwork one of course. The thing about the unavailable items is a difficult one to call. If it once was free but now has to be purchased it really doesn't qualify as a no count item since there is a price tag on it. We usually reserve those for holiday items that were offered free during the holiday but are not available now. There is a fine line there and many have tried to cross it only to create lengthy discussions about it. It's best to stay out of the grey area. Less hassles. There are exceptions to that rule but again they are iffy.

thanks dollygirl, I was in there earlier today and tried to update the gallery but forgot how Kendall said to do it. I didn't have alot of time so I just left it alone. My dad is visiting from out of town for a week and I am not online as much as I usually am. I am glad you did it so us judges don't have to do it the old way (copy and paste the renders to a folder to save for the month on our computers).

Oh your welcome jeeperz. I will keep track of any more this month. I never did find the doc Kendall said was in the folder but with a little time I figured out a method for getting the galleries updated. I probably left some of the images to big but Kendall can wag his finger at me and I will correct my ways. :-)

It is this sort of discussion that has almost killed the Freebie Challenge on a couple of occasions in the past, because they always get so m#impassioned and always drift widely away from the whole concept of the freebie challenge.

If you read through and check the evolution of the first Challenges, which are all posted in the links in the Rules post, stickied at the top of the forum you will see that we have in fact bent over backwards trying to accommodate changes, but it gets to a stage where you set a definitive set of rules and stick with them, pretty well.

I think That Music has done a really good job of setting out the rules without making them overly complicated, and these rules are accepted by everyone, including Daz 3D and the ETO team.

This is the longest running Challenge or Contest on the Daz 3D forums, and always the best, because it is such a whacky and wild contest, frequently drifts off topic, but comes back all by itself, has fun and games and a wonderful atmosphere without any arguments about the rpice of sliced bread or any such thing.

Can we try and keep it up doing that for another 6 years, as we are nearly at the end of year six of this challenge.

And I might add that our lovely (not the lady with the club!) MOD we have has also bent over backwards for the challenge. In fact, the entrie Daz team has been known to bring our huge plate of complaints to the table a few times with much success. I think everyone, including the entrients, has done a superb job of keeping us in the shape we are in...lol. It is a "TEAM" effort, and that's why we have ETOs. The team officers help all keep going in the right direction.

Now...rules...rules...rules. Nobody likes 'um, everybody has to have 'um. They apply to all. These rules are years of "yessies" and "nooies". Some of them we tossed back and forth a few times in the past. What folks need to realize is this...read the rules first. Then start your entry. The object is not how wonderfully perfectly beautiful your render is, BUT how you used the freebies, how many you got, how well you placed everything, theme, ease of availablility of free stuff, how much fun you had making it, and how well others (judges) like your entry. Fun and free stuff. That's it. There are tons of contests that judge on perfection and thrid party add on enhancers. We are not that.

I remember once, during the site changeover, we held one month without any rules! Yup we did, and Chohole hosted it. I was amazed at just how much confusion was about. Nobody knew what to enter...lol. It turned into a train wreck full of fun. We had a blast, but the challenge was a wash. My PM box was stuffed...hehehe.

So...thus rules. They are only to keep everyone on an even keel. There are actually folks out there that will cheat to win a prize...yup...they will! I would know.

    :-)

You are doing a spendid job of entering mm. Do not feel bad about asking these questions. That is what we are here for, to help. If no one ever asked, we would not be able to tweek these rules out. So, you in fact, helped. Thank you for that.

I love this render. The silouette effect and the dog thinking about joining them is awesome. Though you can't see his expression, I am sure he wants to go with them with the pose he has struck. Fits the theme quite well too. I love all your work dear. I am accepting this as an entry because the Filter Forge can be written off as some of your "paid fors" though it is a demo. It will become a paid for when the trial runs out at the end of this month. Now, I must believe you when you say you used certain clothing items. I do believe you and the links are threr for them, so I have chosen to accept this as an entry.

    ENTRY ACCEPTED

Nope, that is not what I said. I said I will be maintaining it. Alexa is in the process of taking College Entrance exams ATM and I am overwhelmed on a project. Under normal circumstances, one of us will be loading the images, but there is no reason that the ETO team can't do it if they want. All ETO members have always had access to add/remove from the Gallery.

Yes indeed, tell Alexa good luck, don't think she will need luck, she seems pretty grounded and should do fine.
We have relied on you and Alexa for so long to do all our updating and keeping the renders for the month updated we have gotten complacent on updating the renders each month. SEE you make it to easy on us and now we rely on you. LOL just giving you a hard time...

Well that is okay I'd say. The fact that you are providing it for us is grand enough. I hope Alexa has fun at collage. That's just too cool.

OK...SO TOMORROW IS IT FOR THIS MONTH.

Though we did not get as many entries as we usually do, we still got some great works of art here. It's still not gonna be easy to pick the winners. Wrap up any last minute entries. I will be hosting the 6th annual MONSTER MASH HALLOWEEN BASH for next month's theme. Boy, I have been busy up in here for a while! My third month straight hosting.Gonna try to be as fun as it always is.

Sliding in at the last moment again. Longer hair would probably better sell the speed but works well enough as is. While I used some of my own morphs, dialed in Genesis Child to try to give them a slightly more teenage look.

Ok ZamuelNow your links check out and I have made a command decision for Music and put your entry in the gallery. So Judges we are up to date. I did not put mmalbert's second entry in the entries section so when you go look remember it is in the NAE section.

Good luck everybody. If there are more entries before midnight DAZ time I will add them to the gallery.

    :-)

I wanted to enter, but this month was horrid.

Imagine, if you will, a shot of Toon Girl Sadie (paid content), wearing the Sweater and Cuffed Pants from Posertoons, the Sunhat from Fringewood Designs (twelfth row from top, second column from left), and her brand-new sneakers from Trumarcar, trying to choose which bicycle she would get her parents to buy for her for the new school year. She's liking the BMX bike by apcgraficos...

I have gotten with the judges and we have picked winners. I want to thank all of you who entered and are helping to keep the challenge going. September is always kinda slow, I think school has something to do with that..lol.

Anyway, after reviewing all the entries, here is what we got:

1st place - Lord Ganthor - "But Dad! Think of the possibilities...!

2nd place - Sisca - Last Run of the Summer

3rd place - Dollygirl - "Oh Billy, where did you get such a nice bike?"

Hm1 - mmalbert - Cave Boys and their toys

    Hm2 - Dorseyland - That Summer of 94

Congratulations to all the winners. The first, second and third place winners please PM me the email address you used when you registered here with Daz. I will get you your GCs.

Thanks again for entering. See ya over at the MMHBash.
