Also debating about getting the new Photoshop subscription thing... I qualify for the reduced price, but the offer only lasts until December.

Plenty of time to decide hey :>)

Well I found it and reinstalled it but now I have to start it manually, whereas it always ran in the background before. And when I exit DS, it shuts down again.
And the Smart Content is GONE.

You may need to reset it to start automatically. Go to your Services - hit the WinKey and type Services and you should see it listed there. Scroll down the list and find DAZ Content Management Service. Right click it and select Properties then check that Startup type is set to Automatic.

You may need to re-import metadata to get the Smart Content back but I'm no expert on the CMS and MetaData so you might check with someone else on that.

Only other thing I can think to do would be to completely uninstall the CMS then Uninstall Daz Studio then do a re-install of studio which should re-install CMS and set it up correctly then when you point your studio to your runtime folders it should start working.

Operative word in all of the above is "SHOULD".

Do you want me to put it there, or do it yourself? Up to you. :)

    Ah thanks tjohn !
In that case you... (if you're in the mood)
(I was thinking of a joke somewhere along the line : "I'll train this kangaroo to go hop to the moon, even if it's the last thing I'll ever do !!!!")
Yesterday I was in a somewhat enthiusiastic mood, and ready for 1000 jokes till I had to rush of for some appointment, today I'm tired and so bombered with social activities, that it feels like running a marathon, so I'm just rushing through this thread before it's closed,, seeyahlater,, :)

My dolls and the stuff for them. I also want to play with this toy snail that I got. He is so cute. There is also this unicorn toy I got that will go along with the dolls. So basically I want to go home and play with dolls even though I am thirty and a half years old today.

WinKey? Services? Is this on a version newer than XP? I'd like to see what's popping up this tray dialog lately. It tells me I should update this or that. That's the thing that told me I need to update Adobe Air...even though I don't have Adobe Air. When I clicked on the update link, Norton came up with a warning...malicious stuff. I'd like to find it and get rid of it. I never had it before, so it's something that recently happened. Maybe this services thingy could help me.

This has been going on for several days. Maybe you should see a doctor, be sure it isn't something serious.

speaking of doctors, i'm back from the dentist. he did not charge me much. but he will charge me $150 for the next exam. I forgot to ask him if the exam includes x-rays. I'll call him later.

yeah, pain lasting for more than one day isn't fun. :( i had a hard time concentrating on creating 3D and 2D art.

The XP equivalent would be Start button (that's the Windows key, WinKey), click Run, type services.msc and click the OK (or Run, I can't recall) button.

Thank you. I got the DCMS running again, but tried all of the rest...nada. (sigh)
I still have all my Content Library, but I feel a bit cheated that I can't use the Metadata.
