Mmm it does look like an anole neck doesn't it? ^^

It's supposed to be loose, stretchy skin - since it was supposed to be like a gulper eel - dragon hybrid :)
The jaw stretching bit was inspired by an anaconda ^^ The real one, not the one from the film ^^

@security stuff: I used to use Kaspersky for a long time, but I moved to Avast recently. Been using that ever since ^^

    Mmm new thread name...
    The Complaint Designers Thread? :)
    Complaining about complaint thread complaints?

You were? When, in a previous life? :)
in a dream. I was nice and warm with the hot fudge all around me and the brownie keeping me comfy.

    Yeah, I got that. :)
That would be a nice dream for me...all the yummy stuff I can't have in one. :)
On the plus side, my blood panel came up good on everything today, including my A1C (average glucose levels for the last 3 months). Take that, Type 2 Diabetes!

You don't have to use it. Just go to the Desktop.

    Nice wallpaper!

Does it multi-task? I read something that implied that it actually only does one thing at a time. Maybe that's if you're using the Metro UI, though. This was a technical review, too. They said that it should actually be called Window.

Well, I'm running an i7 quad core so i think it does true multitasking.

Just because it's available doesn't mean it's being used. :)

I got rid of Norton about 6 years ago because it kept interfering with programs. I don't know if they've improved it any but it don't sound like it

I had McAffee until a couple of years ago when Comcast made Norton Security Suite the free product. I like it better, and haven't had issues with it blocking something. And if it sees something as a threat and you disagree, you can report that and they'll look at it and remove the blocking. And truth be told, something that insists on running and calling home, even when the application it is for is not in use, is a bit troubling to me...so it would be no surprise if Norton saw it as a threat.

But I suppose I'm different. I was told that by someone years ago. "You're a different kind of man." is what he said. But then, aren't we all? Different, I mean.

And the critter I was trying to design earlier ^^

Good job! Oh, you didn't actually finish that, did you? That's just a concept sketch? Or is that it? Then...good job!

    Dana

It's actually just a cropped section of it ^^

What I want to get done is a side and front view of the head in, and another dynamic/action pose. Maybe running or climbing.
Maybe a part on the feet/legs too, since they're supposed to be good runners and jumpers (And thus padded feets to absorb the impacts when landing)

What I'm most concerned with is if the anatomy "works" here - especially the arms and legs D:
The skull a little bit... Based the general shape off a spinosaur, and the rest of the functionality off an anaconda + gulper eel :P

Cool, throat kinda shaped like an anole's.
Well, when he's not showing off at mating time. :)

My mind saw a "h" where there's an "n". :red:

Wow, I still find it hard to believe there are people out there still using XP. There's been what, 3 more OP since. Vista, Win7 and Win 8. Yep 3

The house compy is six years old and still running XP, won't be changing anything until it breaks down completely. Got a workstation running Vista SP1, never update a workstation unless the applications it runs need an upgrade :>)

Well, if that XP box is connected to the Internet...you better upgrade before April 2014. Once they stop support, hackers everywhere will have a field day. No more holes being patched. It's XP Armageddon!

Well, according to Microsoft, along with Smart Screen (also included) it's really just an upgrade/update of Security Essentials.

Also came up with a few color variations of my critter. They seem to be very popular on the art sites I posted them on ^^
    (Especially the "Stalker" variant.)

Typically, running more than one anti-virus on a system causes troubles. And I have windows Defender...and no issues. Maybe the version for Windows 8 is more fully featured? Anyway, I'm quite happy with Norton Security Suite. It also takes care of temp files cleanup and does defragging of the drives and such, all on auto-pilot in the background. Now if only I can get the Identiy Safe part to work for me again. It broke after one of their updates.

The My XP Box Is Still Kicking Complaint Thread...

(yes, I have one too... no I'm not too worried about Apr/2014 (unless of course M$ inject their own 'end of life' virus into any XP box they can find)... because the system has already had six(?) years of patches and "hardening" applied to it... security holes don't generally spontaneously appear, they are usually found (and exploited) in things that were overlooked, and if a system has had a decent lifetime, then there's not too many stones left unturned...).

Complaint: about to be kicked out of the 'Club for getting a refund... (>_<).</p>

    Non-complaint: Abby Sciuto... :red:

I just got several security updates for XP two nights ago. They are still finding holes. In April, they stop looking. But you can be sure the hackers won't stop looking.

...I just got several security updates for XP two nights ago. They are still finding holes. In April, they stop looking. But you can be sure the hackers won't stop looking.

Hackers will only keep looking while the "critical mass" of machines online is there - random wiki page tells me that "Windows XP market share is now down to ~33% of systems, having been overtaken by Win7 machines in August 2012". Hackers don't have infinite time (or resources, or luck) - they're looking to affect the widest range of machines they can in the shortest time (before somebody else finds the exploit, or MS or the application writers plug the problem).

Older systems generally don't warrant as much attention as newer systems (how many virus scares have you seen for OpenVMS?) - the largest set of active systems is the one you want to spend your time poking and prodding on (especially if it involves new tools, new services, new drivers/applets etc). With everybody being dragged kicking and screaming into the 64-bit era (minus those who can't afford it of course), WinXP will start getting ignored in favour of the current status quo (Win7/Win8/Linux). Let's put it this way - would you prefer to spend your time analysing and investigating all these wonderful new flaws in "cloud" based systems (Adobe) and automatic updaters (it takes just one of those auto-updater servers to be compromised, and then you've got arbitrary code operating in your machine) and background services, or would you prefer to continue spending effort on "old" systems that are dying away?

A few final thoughts - if after 12 years holes are still being found, how many of those holes are in "already patched" components? how many of these "holes" are manufactured by AV companies to scare people into buying their products (or to prove that 'their' product is better than the others)? what hope does this give for a brand new shiny OS, if after over a decade they still didn't get it right?

Aww sorry to hear that :(

I love cats and snakes ^^
As long as they're small :)

My best friend has a Royal Python he named Julius Squeasar and he is the sweetest thing ever <3<br /> As friendly as can be ^^

I remember him telling me about one winter where the power went out and he held Squeasar close under his jacket that night to keep him warm... Very likely that saved Squeasar's life with how cold it was those days. The power was out for three days and no access to his heating lamp because of that.

On the topic of snakes, anything larger than a Ball Python I'd be uncomfortable being close to. From a distance cool, but not up close. Ball/Royal pythons seem to be the best choice since they're 1: Cute, 2: Very easily tamed, 3: Highly friendly - especially for reptiles, 4: cuuuute, 5: pretty close to harmless - except for to pet mice ;)

I always wanted to get one, but there's no way I could care for one when there's no easy method of acquiring food for it where I live :(
