An aligator is a crocodillian
"Shroedinger's Herd". I like it, but depending on how long the box is closed, the half-live ones might have to eat the half-dead ones.
Re: explaining humor: Try returning to living in a small farm town after 42 years at college, industry and government reseach, big cities, and world travel, always surrounded by intelligent, quick, witty people.
I almost gave up making jokes until I could find what was funny to the locals. Avoid word play or anything ironic.
I decided to make up a sport for my story and call it football. Hmmm wait there is at least one real sport called football. I wonder which one I am going to base my football on.
you have several to choose from
5-American football
4-Soccer
3-Gaelic football
2-Aussie rules footbal
1-Rugby football
Wow! Cool!
I need to go to this thing that some call a job or work soon. It is 09:53 right now and I start at ten
I got an email saying that synfig just released a new release but I cannot remember what that is. I could search it but the lady I call my boss might get upset that I am not getting up to get ready to clock in.
I just realized I didn't say Merry Santafest to everyone...
Also, if you don't celebrate Santafest (S-fest), then happy whatever you celebrate that falls within a reasonable time before, on or after the point at which I wished you a happy whatever...
Today or tomorrow is Broostgrig... on the galactic calendar that falls on or about the next 24 hours... it's difficult to say because I never really got onboard with the whole galactic calendar thing... I'm sure it makes sense and all, but like the metric system it kinda just fell out my ears...
Broostgrig is a big festival for Veeslevoots... today they will be out in the Hoostnook fields beating the spores out of the Broostgrig Hoostnooks, hooting festive Broostgrig songs and roasting the spores on their little mignootz grills... happily exchanging colorful joofs and crunchy dungis... and hopefully there will be no cannibalism again this year... it's complicated but on Veeslevoot cannibalism was a big problem until they came up with Broostgrig, which is a celebration of everyone not eating each other for another year.
Unless the all ate each other and there is no Broostgrig this year... also their sun was in really bad shape, so it may have blown up or something...
But let's not think of that now... Happy Santafest, Festivus, Broostgrig or whatever you celebrate
why is the air so dry in late fall and winter?? Yuck. I wish I could live in Florida during the winter.
Cough! No wonder my throat is dry. Usually I do not get a dry throat. Sometimes there is too much moisture in my mouth but not today.
Low temperature reduces the maximum percent of water that can be absorbed by the air.
Low humidity reduces the leakage path for static electricity so electric charges tend to build up easily and stay put until their potential can be utilized either for good or evil or just pure frustrating reality.
The effect is particularly noticable if one likes to demonstrate simple science about static electricity.
Or one is in the habit of scruffing one's sock feet across a wool rug and touching the cat's tail.
Or a poor soul with only two hands is trying to pull Saran Wrap from the roll and get it onto the bowl one intends to cover, before the Saran Wrap contracts into itself forming a 2 inch diameter spherical mass of charged plastic film impossible to ever flatten out again.
...not all that dry here in the "Pacific Northwet".
Its gonna be 48F in cardiff. The same in huntington ny
Today:
A dry but cloudy day throughout Wales with bright or sunny spells breaking through every now and again. It will be feeling mild for this time of year. Maximum temperature 13 °C.
Complaint?: I've broken Amazon.
I keep very careful records of where my money goes. I have a spreadsheet (one page for each month of the year) with all cash & credit transactions. Recently I've been doing a lot of ordering from Amazon, but a couple of things had to be returned for credit. I see my $38.45 credit "Rewards" posted on their website "Rewards" page but not in my "Store Card" account. Fine, they just hold it there until I decide to either move it to my StoreCard account or apply it to a purchase. But the StoreCard account is insisting that I owe them $95.33 less than my spreadsheet does. Yet I have been over and over my records and their order history and have accounted for everything I've ordered and every recurring service charge like "AmazonPrimeVideo". It's not like I would forget nearly $100 of purchases or payments. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Because it's the end of the year and I try to make sure I start the new yearly spreadsheet with $0 carryover from all credit vehicles. I'm running out of time for them to resolve things. I'll give them until Tuesday evening to make any corrections on their end then I'll make an "Adjustment" in my spreadsheet, pay my final bill according to their records, take my winfall and move on to next year's spreadsheet.
Of course it is possible that my spreadsheet calculation scheme is broken but I've been using the same spreadsheet for years and it hasn't even been tweaked during this last year, it just works the way it was designed. I've even checked the calculation algorithms in the Amazon column but can find nothing amiss.
Non-complaint?: The fact that I can pay down my Amazon credit bill before the end of the year means that I have finally paid off my purchase of my new DAZzing computer. Amazon gave me 6 months interest free to pay off such a large purchase and I completed it in 3 months. Yay!
One advantage of not owning a car and becoming a shut-in. No place to go to spend all that filthy money on trivial things like good food, mall browsing, overpriced movie theaters, and decadent unproductive sightseeing.
Is a chubby hungry squirrel waiting for his peanuts lunch
I luv bronies
Remember the dukes of hazard car? Think they called it the general lee
...yeah Dodge made a number of them as a custom version of their Charger. We have someone here in Portland with one.
That show tended to be pretty hard on the cars they used. so there were several "General Lee"s in the wings should one end up damaged by one of their stunts.
...bronies, hmmm, adult and middle aged men dressing up as My Little Pony characters.
I'll stick to Gandalf or the Enchanter named "Tim".
Bin ge watching mlp. Twilight is trying to save the future
Dr who marathon on.
binge watching psyche episodes spotting the pineapples u
Don't let yourself be too shut in. That would be catastrophic for your long-term health, both mental and physical.
They went through over 200 Dodge Chargers during that TV show's initial 7-season run. Yeah, seven seasons; can you imagine? They even started going after slightly newer model years once they started running out of the original.
The movie they did used a bunch of cars too. For the really spectacular stunts, they were launching them engineless in an attempt to get higher and farther jumps. Since the original TV show, there have been several DoH movies and series.
As a car guy, I'm not unhappy that they used Dodge Chargers for that show. It was not really a very good car in real life. Might as well smash a few of them up.
Complaint:
"Organic" stores that sell "Organic" stuff.
I like the off-kilter selection you can get in organic and natural food stores, but as an option to the big groceries (Kroger, Publix, etcetera), the "Natural" groceries have way too many unacceptable problems. First off, they're more expensive. Than everything else. Second, they're not always what they claim to be (Organic or "Fresh").
I got a tub of mixed greens lettuce just Thursday evening, and today, only two days later and still 5 days before the expiration date, nearly completely rotted out! I'm furious!
It goes back to the store tomorrow for replacement.

The great mollasses flood 1819 was 24,000,000 lbs
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Molasses_Flood
Wow, what a sticky situation.
Deep doo-doo.
Sweet jesus.
And you thought your day was bad.
Stock market futures in mollasses cookies plummeted.
Fish in the area were diabetic for generations.
The subsequent university experiment to see if mollasses attracted more flies than vinegar failed because the train carrying the carloads of rotten apples failed to crash on schedule.
And, um, 1819 was a little early for a truck to be hurled into the bay.
I feel the same about organic stuff... sometimes there is too much "hype" in how it's presented... and lot of chains really gouge the prices... there is one around here (it's probably nationwide) that charges 3x what a regular supermarket charges for the exact same organic brand... literally everything is at least 30% - 40% more for anything... like regular Heinz mustard or plain Morton salt.
About the lettuces... even though I like mixed greens, I've taken to avoiding any mixes that include red lettuces... they are extremely sensitive to moisture and rot quickly if they are exposed to condensation... so like if you take the container out several times and leave the bin of cold greens on the counter while you are preparing them, the remaining leaves may "sweat" and accumulate a little condensation... the red leaves are always the first to rot and once they touch a good leaf, that rot will spread... one way to lessen the chances of rotting is to limit how long the batch is exposed to warm air... returning the unused portion to the fridge as soon as possible.
Another thing that matters is the containers or plastic bags they come in... unless the practice has changed recently, from what I've been told, manufacturer's put a little bit of of inert gas (maybe nitrogen) in the packaging to stabilize the greens... bags hold that well, but the plastic bins are hit and miss with some being virtually useless in holding in the gas... also the store itself often causes problems by allowing produce to go from a cool truck to a warm area where it sits around for a couple of hours before it's stored in a cool case... whatever little moisture that's supposed to be in the container will collect on the leaves and cause rot. Of course once you open it, the gas is gone, but if it's a bad package design, most of the gas will have escaped before you ever opened it and the rot could be well on it's way.
Strawberries (and most berries) suffer from that condensation problem, especially in the summer months... for strawberries, I've found that opening a bin and rubbing a dry finger tip across several berries to see if they are slimy or slick is a good way to gauge if they will last more than a day or so... the drier the better.
The funny thing is, around here there are strawberry farms and if you buy strawberries that have never been refrigerated and don't refrigerate them, they will out last store bought berries that have been refrigerated by several days... but that also depends on humidity.
Well, that was way more than anyone cares about lettuces or strawberries.
That's probably because it
happened in 1919
..I tend to avoid lettuce altogether due to the recent situations mentioned in the news (particularly with regard to romaine and other "leafy" lettuce) that have occurred. My digestive system is sensitive enough, don't need to take unnecessary chances.
What is really sad the two main "organic" grocery chains where I live are owned but big corporations, Whole Foods (Amazon) and New Seasons (recently bought out by a South Korean corporation). With the Amazon purchase of Whole Foods several years ago, they claimed it would lower prices, what occurred though is that prices went the other way. We used to have a local chain called Nature's which was much more price competitive with the bigger grocery chains and sold a lot of locally grown/raised/produced foods. Sadly, they first were bought out by Wild Oats of Colorado, who subsequently were bought by Whole Foods (who we referred to as "Whole Paycheque"). In both cases prices not only went up but the selection and quality suffered.
Kroger (out here, Fred Meyer) definitely has the best pricing for their organic products, even better than Safeway's organic/natural brands.
