Well, I live in Italy, although I'm 5,000ft up a mountain, so not in the worst of it. But it's bad here. 12-13 days ago, the death toll was 20+. Tonight it was 1,016, with almost 13,000 infected. That gives you an idea of how fast it spreads. All stores except pharmacies, food stores and news/tobacconists are now closed till April 3rd, so if you want anything different, get it online. No cinemas, cafes, museums, churches, concerts, nada....

And the rest of Europe isn't far behind Italy. One of the factors that masks the numbers is the amount of tests each country does. If you don't do many tests, you won't have many infected people. (I reckon that's one of the reasons the US numbers are still very low). But France, Spain and Germany appear to be about 10 -14 days behind Italy in terms of the curve, so expect more lockdowns.

And another myth going around is, 'Oh, it's just like the flu!' Yes, up to a certain point, but it's 10 times more deadly, so who'd want to risk it?

Anyway.... I like the render.... especially the fact that it looks like you could catch every disease known to Man in that toilet! LOL!

Mosquitoes kill 2,740 people every day, HUMANS kill 1,300 fellow humans every day, and Snakes kill 137 people every day.

Take a deep breath, and wash your hands.”

First, yes, people are freaking out unnecessarily?  Yes.  However, the fact is that mosquitos don't kill people.  A large host of multiple diseases carried by mosquitos kill people and that number is the Cumulative total of the results of hundreds of different diseases and mosquito species, the majority of which are killed are in areas where mosquitos proliferate freely and medical care is difficult.  The snake total is also global and the result of multiple species... and half the time the result of people putting themselves on the wrong end of a snake.  By comparison, this is a single disease that medical science is still looking for a counter for, and history is rife with single diseases that have done catastrophic damage when they weren't or couldn't be checked.

What is really sad is people going into hospitals, doctors surgeries and care homes stealing the hand sanitizer.

yes that is awful, i think some people are over reacting & panicking.  i think  In the USA they have closed most of all nursing home to the public now.

Our family was ahead of the curve.  we planed ahead for the end of the world back in the earily 2000's.   we bough cases of rubber gloves, hand sanitizers, m95 mask and hazmat suites . 5 years of freeze dried food, plus we run a small still so we have all the alcohol we need . sometimes its good to be a simple hill billy laugh

    And that address is...? :)

Exactly, I am up for a road trip!!

I work in retail management and it's madness in the stores with those buying everything they can and those (customers and employees) that are laxed about it and coming in when they are sick and freakin everyone else out and into a panic. They estimate one in five will be infected, so we are getting ready for the worse. To bad I don't have any vacation time left..

    Stay safe and well everyone!

I will still risk the shops for my fresh food, just stay well away from other people, I do anyway, hate being touched

but the smoke is really playing havoc with my breathing at the moment, I cough continuously anyone would think I have Covid19, I haven't but wheezing and generally miserable like I was during the bushfires.

these arsonists pick the worst possible time to wreck destruction, its overcast with a temperature inversion.

However untill specific medicine is available, along with cleaning it also require proper clothes etc. all the time for cold weather to prevent pneumonia and easily catch flu like viruses. Though excess clothing will cause sweat which will void the purpose.

my fridge and pantry are empty, I live from one pay day to the next but mostly buy fresh fruit and vegetables anyway.

I avoid people though shopping early morning.

I walk to shops so limited in what I can buy but need the exercise, have a granny cart.

my plans were ruined today because someone started a fire on my route and the smoke will make walking impossible.

Ironically, it's going to be the people who eat mainly fresh food who're affected the worst during shortage situations, unless they have their own gardens, as the way grocers run their supply chains now, almost nothing is produced locally anymore and is only trucked in on an as needed basis.  On the other hand, Beenie-Weenie and canned sphaghetti are garbage, nutrition-wise, but they can sit on your pantry shelf until the end of time and can be eaten straight out of the can.  Mmm mmm!

sodium in the packaged food will kill before virus does

This is the view from my bedroom window although it's actually pouring rain right now! Believe it or not, I'm literally right in the heart of LA and a huge 24 hour Rite Aid is 1/2 block away and a small (but ridiculously overpriced) grocery store right on the corner and a Trader Joe's a few blocks away too. No shortage of toilet paper here but out of hand sanitizer everywhere and luckily I bought an overpriced bottle of rubbing alcohol early on. I'm feeling relatively safe here because most in my neighborhood are health nuts and being very careful. That said, I'm pretty much turning into a hermit!

Also California just officially closed down every event with more than 250 people including Disneyland and Wondercon (where I usually sell my art.) But good news, UCLA independently developed their own corona virus tests so more people can finally be tested!

I hit the Commissary two weeks ago, stocked up on non-perishables, apartment packed. Good thing, local stores get wiped out by noon every day. But I have to pay attention to my health and plan ahead. At least I am retired, but the dog still has to be walked. That didn't stop when I had the flu really bad in 2015 in a blizzard, still had to walk the guy. And last month I caught a cold due to being out in -3F temps for over 30 minutes. Three days later, sneezing, shivering, raised temperature, coughing... Then as I finally started to come around, hello hayfever season. Sigh.

@Ivy, that is a lovely photo. You are very lucky.

@maclean, I hope you and your family and friends are safe and come through this okay. I am a news junkie and have been watching the growth of this pandemic each day with dread as it has grown around the world.

I'm just asking for a friend, but if you throughly cook someone who had the virus is it okay to... ah, never mind... that question can wait at least a few more days...

Just make sure you don't get any gravy on your nose and eyes.  And wash up thoroughly after.

My view is grey and bleak as the stormclouds begin to roll in... we have a massive snowstorm crawling up on us, and our community center is where foolish people taken off the highways are usually dropped off.  The community next to mine just shut down all its schools today because of COVID-19, so some bright soul phoned the health authority and asked what the protocol was with emergency gatherings of rescued people being bunked all together in a hall... they suggested to put them in the hall, then just stay away from them.  Planning for a pandemic?  Not here...  I have, however, been working on a lovely picture of Pestilence for the last few weeks.  That's all the prep I have left to accomplish :0)
