Yup. Keep giving us quality Genesis 8 Male Core Figures, like Valentino (I hope, haven't checked his skin), Dasan, Dain, and Tristan. Leroy had a good morph, but his skin was too painterly for me, and Jonathan had nice skin, but his morph was too close to G8 Base, imo.

Generation 4, (Victoria 4/4.2 and Michael 4,) was in the seven year range, based on the info in the readmes. I'm sure someone who was around back then can be more exact. Three years would definitely be the longest of any Genesis generations. Like many others, I don't want to see G9 until there are some definitive changes to the tech, like soft body physics. Yep, same sentiment lol. I usually wait like a year to adopt the new one anyways, wait until there is enough usable people, various ages, clothes, hair etc to be used for my needs.

Thanks. I don't know why I ever noticed this before. It goes perfectly with the Jetsonesque Alawa 8 bundle stuff! Wish I saw this when I was picking freebies for that. Next time it's at a better discount or free with a bundle I actually want, it will jump into my cart. :)

I really only like Caspian and Kennen, since I have no use for pirate stuff, quality notwithstanding. Can someone tell how much of Valentineo is in each of them please? I'd like to know if I need the base to get their look right. Thanks.

Kennen uses 60% Valentino. Here is a side by side i did real fast from one of the promo images. Valentino / No Valentino.

    Thank you for the response.

At this point, I think the big question is just how many more Core figures/ProBundles going to make for G8?  Valentino is the 68th G8 core so far, which means that there have been more G8 base figures than for all of the previous Genesis products combined.

I'm guessing maybe 3 more, and hopefully one of those is Cat  8, we can hope. Victoria's Bday is coming in June. We might be seeing Genesis 9 very soon. We are already at 3 years for Gen 8 cycle. Which I think is one of the longest between Generations.

I think V4.2 came out in December of 2006, that is when I bought her around her release. It's been so many years, I can't recall when 4.0 was released.

My invoices show that I bought V4.0 and her pro bundle on December 8, 2006, and that would have probably been within a day of release. I think the reason the dates are so unclear is that it was offered to select customers first and the formal announcement came a few days later.  V4.1 was just a few months later in April 2007 and V4.2 didn't come out until February of 2008.

One of those many others.  For G9 to be worth the trouble, it will need to have MAJOR improvements, like, as mention soft-body physics, gender-specific rigging, improvements to expressions, better bends, etc.  If those improvements are big enough they may break backward compatibility, and that's a lot to ask users to literally buy into.  If they're not worth it, there's no point in bothering at all.

Ok I've loaded up my copy and the store copy of Scallywag.  I've found some bend issues on the abdomen, which I know I've fixed once before but still seem to be there.  I've fixed those and sent the files in so they can be tested and approved so that should be sorted out shortly.

Any other distortion is going to be caused by unsupported morphs and there isnt a lot I can do to prevent that which I haven't done already.  The last option is to rip apart the belt entirely and rebuild it with a differrent method, which will cause a whole boatload of other issues which is why I didn't do that the first time.

Sorry for the inconvenience, and I hope you enjoy the rest of the sets while this one item gets adjusted :)

Man, what a brilliant and hilariously well written game that was. The minute Wally started talking about learning to be a pirate with the Parrot Of The Month club, I was hooked, and how can you go wrong when the villain is a zombie-ghost pirate named LeChuck?

LucasArts, man. I never got around to playing any of the Monkey Island games, but even having not played the game in 20 years or more, I could probably get through Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis from memory.

Oh my lordie @Gordig I must insist you stop doing whatever you're doing when you read this and go play Monkey Island right now!! The Curse of Monkey Island is perhaps my all time favourite LucasArts game... that or Day of the Tentacle... or Loom... or Sam & Max Hit the Road... or Indi... or, yeah, no, I can't decide XD haha! The LucasArts classics are just untouchable. Nothing comes close in terms of ingenuity and humour :D Always good to come across fellow fans!

Same! As hooked as Wally nearly was on his own plastic pirate hook hand haha. I think I might need to render Valentino with a blond ponytail: "I'm Guybrush Threepwood! A mighty pirate!" stalked throughout the Carribbean by the self-proclaimed "object of pure evil", Murray the demonic talking skull.

On the matter of G9, as others have said, unless it's going to offer some blow-our-socks-off innovations I'd rather they stick with developing G8 which is still a great quality base... having said, if G9 does arrive and delivers mega innovations there's probably a high chance it won't be compatible with G3-8... which having invested so much in these models I'd probably feel not 100% ecstatic about... so, hm, yeah, tricky...

I totally agree. I'm willing to switch generations if the improvements are worth it, and what improvements I will get by a new generation. Otherwise I won't bother until the likes of Riversoft or Zev0 create character converters when I can port my characters to G9.

Looks like the Naval Uniform jacket is loading with the sleeve material assigned to the buttons as well as the sleeves. Applying the material preset for the default option fixes it.

well, i had the pro bundle in cart with 4 addons ... ended up with 5 free items. Total $65. hmmm ...
so i deleted everything and as some have stated, decided to buy a couple items ... Vel8, Romeo  te HD, and the volta hair ... with the 20% off banner it came to $54. only $11 less ... might as well buy the bundle and get a lot more bang for the buck ... 19 items for $65 instead of 4 for $54.  $3.42 per versus $13.50

I look forward to seeing his counter part! She is going to be awesome I'm certain!  Lady Pirate I hope!

    +1

I don't care much for pirate stuff. I haven't much use for it, but this is an excellent set and the craftsmanship in top drawer. So, it's a buy.

The distaff version is what I'm really looking forward to. It wouldn't be a bad idea to put a ship in her bundle.

The figure is okay, but pirates aren't really my thing. I will look again in the morning but I think this is the first male pro bundle I don't like. I just never have been interested in pirates.

Whaaat? Serene Night? Is that really you or have you been replaced? LOL!

I think this is is the 1st time I didn't see you jump for joy about a male base character.

Like you, I'm no pirate fan, but the characters are unlike most I see on offer, so I thought I'd pick him up.

Plus, I've been lobbying Daz to get more Asian characters & this one looks Filipino.

    Agreed.

I want Daz to let the tech "breathe" a little. Pro 8 characters are looking better all the time. Gen 4 characters are STILL being created and are STILL showing improvement after all this time.

It's exciting to imagine what artists will be able to create with a Gen 8 tech that is allowed to mature.

Yeah, I admit, I have a loathing-on for pirates. But, I did buy it. I like the characters and skins. I think there is a slight Spanish look to some of the characters which I like. Although the skin resemebles a character I have seen before.

Here's the first of the Valentino characters. This is Kennen. Kennen has a lovely skin tone and nice face. His head... Is a bit large for my tastes. I dialed it out from  the extra added in the character. Head propagation was 1.24.   It didn't need it. I still think I might dial a bit more down. The eyebrows are the only thing I don't care for. They are very elven and go up straight in an unusual way.

You hang in there Wendy. We're all taking a bit of a beating these days. The big reason I was able to pick it up was someone who owed me money paid me. If not for that, I would have tossed it in the wishlist like you did.

Wow. This is strange and alien and I'm not sure how I feel. It almost gives me hope.

That's very true, wearing two pairs of socks is only sensible, and those who say pirates aren't eminently sensible are spreading the anti-pirate propoganda proliferated by the lily-livered Govenor of Hispaniola. I mean, pirates were among the first to have health insurance!! And what's insensible about wearing a protective eye patch?! Nothing, that's what...
