Hopefully you’re thinking of Steven Spielberg’s Hook, featuring Bob Hoskins’ Smee and Dustin Hoffman’s Hook as an old married couple.
its called a 'stocking cap' and its usually knitted, but sometimes sewn of stretchy stuff. Very common winterwear especially for poor folks in the 1800's. The point got lower and lower over time. It's probably related to the 1700's cloth hats, which were both floppy like this or the more familiar stiff pointy hat of wtichy fame. These days its msotly seen on babies, or in fairytale illustrations.
I do my best to get my products working right straight out of the gate .. but you know, sometimes we miss things, or something happens, or DAZ studio gets stupid ... and then I do my best to go and fix it. I find it helps some people to know that the PAs are paying attention to customer reactions, and we do try to help. I know that on the internet it often feels like youa re shouting into the void, but, here at least one person is listening. :)
... also I'm British so I think the politeness might be genetic lol

Think that's why they gave out the free limes.
I've seen that hat in illustrations in old books for general old time merchant marines and also for the general landlubbers populace in old time Europe so I'm sure it has nothing to do with the 'unique creativity' of Disney or similarlly other business entities, whether they be entertainment or fashion businesses.
I was very pleased to see that hat. I do very few contemporary scenes. Anything period tends to be very welcome.
Valentino 8 at work...
So far, I think Caspian for Valentino 8 is my favorite character. I think I understimated how much I would like him, since he has a fair amount of makeup and the pirate garb covers him up a lot, but he looks pretty good. Love his nice eyebrows. his only flaw is that his armpit hair is not working. I don't know if it is the pose, or the hair but it was far away on the side of the figure floating in space. I just removed it.
Romeo HD is a very nice character. If you aren't into the pirate thing, the nautaical tattoo would make a great sailor/marine. He's got nice proportions, and includes some fun skin options.
Funny, Caspian is the only one I didn't like ;). Different strokes :D
Laurie
Renshaw has a dead eye morph and the parameters are set to 100% meaning the morph is turned on by default and affecting every G8M model.
From another thread that had been started for this issue. It has be reported to the PA also.
It's a Machault or Voyageur Cap. Lots of different variations exist (also sailor's tuque), but they were mostly worn by French seamen and common labourers in the 18th century.
Okay, after getting the "Victory" purple banner I caved in and got me this pirate bundle... And I'm mostly satisfied.
But I wonder what happened to the CDI Poses for Valentino 8 and Genesis 8 Male (can't link the item page, as it seems gone the way of the Dodo bird)? Did it get shafted because for most poses it needs (!) two products by different PAs? Without ROG Red Crow Inn all poses supposed to be using a carafe come up with an grey blob instead of the carafe and without Pirate Weapons for G3 and 8 Ms and Fs weapons are replaced with a grey blob, too...
Seems this blobby behaviour is gone now... Product is still gone from the shop though - but exists in my DAZ files
Oh, and it would have been nice to get some hand poses/fits for the Ye Ole Pirate Weapons which themselves look great and seem to have all the options needed for flintlocks and triggers and stuff...
no proo credit for where the pint is ?
nice includes the eye patch
I just want to throw my hat in here and say that, while I haven't the dubloons to aquire it just yet, it is my full intention to be purchasing the pro pack for this one. 10/10 5-stars Bravo! Call me a sucker for pirates, but I do like everything in this bundle. The whole line is very impressive. Great characters, great clothes, great hair. I haven't been this excited for a lineup since Zelara 8.
Valentino 8 with AME - https://www.daz3d.com/auto-muscle-enhancer-hd-for-genesis-8-males
From the product page for Valentine 8:
Valentino 8 measurements courtesy of Measure Metrics for Daz Studio:
Height: 6' 2“ (173.3 cm)
Chest Circumference: 83.1” (96.7 cm)
Waist Circumference: 32.7“ (83.0 cm)
Hip Circumference: 36.5” (92.6 cm)
That's one big chest! Oh, wait, the metric conversion is wrong: 96.7 cm is actually 38.1". Someone typed something by hand…
Parrots on sale at HiveWire3D!
Thanks for all the great renders Serene Night, Daventaki, & Artini!
Uh, Valentino 8 is NOT 6'2". His scale is 95.2, and Josephene 8 (whose MeasureMetrics data on her product page say she's 6'2") is almost a head taller than he. I loaded Diego 8 (purportedly 5'10") with Valentino, and Diego's taller than Valentino too. So, I went to Lee 8 (whose product page lists as 5'7") to find a male whom Valentino 8 can literally but barely (by a nose) look down on. So, Valentino 8 is between 5'8" and 5'9", which is decent for a pirate, but it ain't 6'2".
It's pretty tall for a pirate! The avarage height of a male in the 1600-1700s (around the "golden age of piracy") was 167cm / 5 feet 5.75.
Of course some like blackbeard were 195cm / 6ft 5...
Looks like maybe its from Tavern Dining Hall
Anyone else notice that the button holes on the waistcoat are huge?
It's not the only thing that's wrong. 6' 2" is 187.96 cm, or 188 rounded up.
EXCELLENT! Thanks for the tip!
Thanks a lot, xyer0.
Valentino 8 on the ride..
... more riding ...
Yes, i grabbed the Macaws up right away, and way to many other birdies lmao, here's my picture with Valentino and one of the new Macaws
I managed to stretch my budget to get the base, first render
