Here's another tongue test this time with Owen. Owen's default tongue color looked odd to me. I have never really looked at mouth shaders before experimenting with tongues but I definitely prefer a darker less shiny tongue. So I switched out the texture. Shiny looks a bit animal to me. Most tongues are a bit more milky. Anyway just my thoughts.
I can definitely say the tongue control is worth it. You have to use the tongue long to even get it out of the mouth.
I also changed Owen's chest hair to something slightly more manscaped.
The popsicle I recolored with a blue gummybear shader by Mec3d. For some reason the iray shaders don't apply when clicked on the preset and I didn't want to deal .Drips were easy to draw on and use a liquid layer style I bought at Envato which has 5 useful liquid layers including milk, blood, and conveniently neon blue water. 5 liquids If you use a layer style you can remove the drop shadow effect, and get a fairly decent water effect if you mess around with opacities.
The mouths are too low on Michael 8 base in my opinion. I prefer them raised about 100 percent. Which is why I do this on Owen and Boyd. Thanks for your nice compliments..
I've never tested the tongue so no opinion on it, but love the ice cream render. The tongue is just right!
The tongue is kind of a weird thing. It really doesn't look terribly realistic overall. I was actually interested in how different the mouth textures are. the person who did Boyd's skin made the tongue flaming hot pink. The original skin for Owen's tongue looked nearly like he had some sort of frosted coating on his tongue. I tried various ones, but I think overall they are a bit smooth looking and a bit too shiny.
When I was trying to make mouth poses I also found them nearly impossible to pose.
So if you want a challenge mess with the tongue!
You might copy the texture with the tongue, decrease saturation to 0 and then turn it into some sort of opacity overlay to make the tongue that whitish pink it is on top but on what surface element? The diffuse texture?
I was’t sure what the issue with the tongue is. Owen’s texture is a gen 7 skin though so perhaps the tongue didn't go over as well.
I got rid of the white tongue by selecting it and applying a Genesis 8 female tongue material. Owen's pale enough without the scaley white tongue. .
I decided to let Boyd have his hot pink tongue though. His body is a special order.... and the person who ordered it added a lot of custom features.
Forum member Pantros2 made this fun pose for Genesis 8 female.
As usual I gender bent it... And applied a filter. Adjustments were needed because Boyd is about 4-6 inches taller.
That's surprisingly good.
Yes, it is! I want to see a postage price on the stamp, to make it even more real.
Heh! Glad you like it. The question is how much should a love stamp cost? I'm guessing since its old-timey 5 cents.
5¢ it is then. I can remember when they cost 6¢ and sodas and candy bars a nickel.
I've actually been doing a lot of rendering, but not lliked much that I've done the last few days. This is by far my most complicated image, featuring RAW's new figure Reject. (I think Reject is mad, since I left his genitalia off..But honestly I didn't notice he had any, and given that Owen's about to knock him back off his feet, maybe its better to pretend the lab removed them while they were making him tall dark, and mutanty-y).
Owen tends to grab the initiative and try to overpower critters if he can using his heavy body slam method. This made sense when you realize that Reject was originally on fire.
Originally there was a hole in the ceiling and Rejects whole top arm was on fire. It looked pretty good, but drew the eye too much to the top of the image. Rejects arm is red due to the flame, but unfortunately, since the flame is gone doesn't make a lot of sense any longer.
I think if I Were going to work with reject more, I'd adjust his skin tone a bit. That's a lot of pink flesh. Unfortunately, this turned out kind of grainy for some reason. I used the zombie billboards, but was a wee bit irked I couldn't get them facing reject. They also looked more like.... Wounded people than zombies fleeing the tunnel... But okay.
I did something lighter this afternoon. Its volleyball.... Except...There are far too many birds and Darius's hat bugs me. Did I mention there are far too many birds?
Pretty much any beach in the northeast would have that many birds. Especially in the summertime when there's lots of people out dropping food. It looks fine to me.
I think that's an impressive scene! Top notch posing:) Yea it's a bit grainy but nevertheless great render
Thanks for the comments about birds. I wish it were easier to get just a few. I removed about 6 or more because they were too close to a face or just too thick in certain areas. That’s interesting I didn’t know you would have that many in the east coast. We do get gulls here in the West coast but rarely That many at one time.
Sven Yes thanks for your comments about the reject, I really liked that image so I was sad when it did t converge after 4 hours, I will try to render this again overnight. It actually looks more pixelated in the forums than it did in my machine. I wish Iray handled dark scenes better... or I had a more robust computer. I like action scenes the best and find myself limited a lot with darker images. I will try setting it up before bed and see if it can render longer
I think your rejected scene is phenomenal. Maybe you could render it in parts to not stress out your computer?
I like that.... rejected. Ha. Yeah I may have to try rendering the background and seeing how that works. Probably my inclination to flood images with water ads to the render time.
I like the graininess in the Reject scene. I think it works really well for that type of scene and adds to the overall impression. I think its an awesome scene too although I do agree about the zombies a bitl
And yes, having that many birds at the beach here in Ohio would be perfectly normal on any given day that there are a lot of people out. Heck, stop by a McDonalds inland from the lakes and toss a french fry out the window and you would get that many gulls lol.
I get that grainy effect sometimes & I rather like it as a render style although I realize that graininess is one of the most common complaints about renders.. For me though there needs to be a lot of grain for that to work as a render style.
The image is cool though. Like real comic books.
On the east coast of US so many gulls is common in picnic and peer areas. I live way inland now but even in the eastern mountains near an artificial dammed lake the sea gulls show up in winter to feast on dropped food in the WalMart parking lot but not such a big flock. LOL, I don't know why that don't show up at Kroger's and such.
Interesting. Maybe the people of WalMart feed them more generously. =-) I remember loving the gulls when moving out to the coast and feeding them too.. But I was a small kid. I love how they can grab a snack right out of the air.
I will attempt to re-render the zombie scene tonight, but lately my studio has been crashing during long renders asking me to file a bug report. Quite frustrating when I came home from work expecting to be able to play with postwork... only to find studio hung on 80 percent completed for 9 hours. URk. Wish it could incrementally save so you could start up a long render every so often.
If you haven't taken a look at Filter Forge (which has a 30 day free trial), you may want to take a look for the sheer amusement factor. I particularly like the 'comic' book filters. Where you can cycle your images through and come out with some bitmapped and pixelated results.
Unfortunately, there seems to be a lack of really good practical use filters. Topaz Products and Nik collection are still superior, but this is a fun toy and I ran a couple of images through the filter so you can see...
One other possible application is as a background generator. For some reason there are just tons of 'texture' filters. So if thats your bag check it out.
Holy crap, that's a nice-looking comic book effect. Which one is it? (I'm the opposite of you, I only have interest in FF as a texture generator but that looks really, really good.)
There are two good ones and a ton of bad ones
these are most excellent

I do agree that filte forges strength is likely in its texture generation ability.
Love it, thanks.
Would love to have bought something in today’s Valentine’s Day sale especially with the great discount for gift cards but unfortunately valentines offerings are all female with the exception of the piano and the two male items aren’t eligible for discount. But I’m in luck another store has a hot new male character on offer.
Ah so just heard back from q/a that they will not fix or provide updates Kieron for Genesis 8 male incorrect anatomical elements. Seems strange to me... I don’t know what to say. I’m sure all the rest of the tickets will likewise not be fixed....
