@xyer0 There is only one set of textures for the arms and they have tattoos. I created a new set of textures for his arms without the tats (and then had to also replace the hands, because without the tats, they are extremely red and look scalded and strange).

Thanks, @Phoenix1966, for the explanation. If I may ask, do you have one more man for us on the backburner before Genesis 8 goes bye-bye?

@xyer0, I've got one or two fellows that I've been tinkering with. wink But this fellow, now that he's got new arms (and is now intact) has been distracting me.

this is what your man's hair could look like if you fix the line width size

Unfortunately, no matter how close you get with the skin and hair, the damn shirt is a dead give-away. It just shouts polygons rather than cloth - at least for me.

Clothing is currently my white whale. TBF I didnt actually spend all that much time on the clothes, I could definitely improve them, but its definitely the area I need to do a deep dive on next

Yeah, same for me. The clothes always let me down. I spend hours on combinations of dForce and morphs trying to make them look natural but that goal eludes me still. You might have to put your Blender skills to work?

By the way, I have the slip in your signature ... one of the better pre-dForce items of clothing. I tried to add dForce to it but is exploded no matter what I did. Maybe all the stringy bits.

if it d-forces, it will work in Marvelous Designer typically (as obj to garment).  Any rigid follow nodes that fall off can usually be replaced pretty easily should that happen.

How do you fix the line width size?

Could you please elaborate more about your fix.

I went slightly more in depth in the comment before I posted the picture, but just not in the image demonstrating it which was silly.

It's right in the material settings panel. There are two properties called "line start width" and "line end width" (easiest way to find them is to type "line" in the search at the top 9f the materials tab). They control the thickness of the stands. The hair and beard have the start width set at .2 if you turn it down to .1 and turn the end width down to .05 or .06 the strands will be twice as thin and not look so chunky

there are also some other settings in there that can be nice to expiriment with, If you've fiddled with the strand editor you might notice all the names match up with the settings there. There's one called something like random length that does exactly what it sounds like and can make things look more uneven for instance

LOL! Nothing against deathbycanon's art because it's a fabulous pic - only because I think the figure's arms are too long (or legs too short...) and it would bug the hell out of me when I used him.

You know, if you have the Genesis 8 Male Body Morphs, you can always adjust that with the various propagating scales, and the arm/leg length sliders.

WOW!!  Yes - looks like he could pull up next to Ron Perlman ("Sons of Anarchy")!

well, he is on my wishlish - though I admit the priority just rose a number of notches, hahahaha!

His arms are very long, and his hands are huge. Here's one just playing with daz's male body morphs

This one uses that last morph

Those came out really good! I like the last morph the most, as well.

There is a no tattoo mat setting....  I think the others were about fit and compatability.

I was told the vest had buttons now and the character had no tat option.

And so he does, and it does. I hadn't had a chance to look at him when I typed that. Should remember to wait to see next time.

It also looks like his clothing -- or at least the vest -- was changed so that it no longer has his body shape baked into it.

Unfortunately, the way the buttons were handled -- as a layer sitting on top of the vest -- means that the vest no longer dForces, which it used to do quite nicely. Every time I tried with the new vest, no matter what I did, it exploded. It looks like even though the buttons look like they're just a new surface, there's somehow some layered geometry that doesn't get along with dForce. Ah, well.

Indeed they did. And they also added the materials for his other hair that wasn't there before. He's had quite the makeover, really.

Image below shows the new arms and the new vest.

(Side note: I don't know if there's a single expression around that doesn't make him look a teensy bit terrifying.)

The vest doesn't fit well on my characters. I tend to just leave it off because it stretches and looks odd. It looks good on underbelly though.

I might have to wishlist him now as the skin fix and hair make him quite tempting

  • i have to say the update makes a very good character set into a 5 star set!!! Feels way more polished/finished now. Thanks so much and WOW to the daz team for listening to feedback and making this bundle/set as awesome as it could be!

  • The head is great, but from the neck down its a wreck. I can't believe no one has mentioned his ridiculously sized traps, like all the guy does is barbell shrugs all day. He needs some cannonball delts to go along with that. Its beyond cartoonish, the long arms I could overlook before those traps. But maybe thats just me from lifting for 30 years. Anyway, I still like him, his face is worth it alone as compared to all the Gen 8 pretty boys.
