We've already had Herschel Hoffmeyer's wyvern and Howie Farkes's Ultrascenery so my mind well and truly boggles at what it could be.

Personally, I really, really, really, really hope it's not Vicky 9.

    Cheers,

    Alex.

I guess you didn't look at any of the thread? It was just Underbelly, the character released today.

Meh. I am not impressed, or excited. the model looks good but no more better in my view than HD morphs. I still dont know what the big part is

I really don't know why people are so afraid of Genesis 9?
G8 would still work and nobody is forced to upgrade.
I am all excited to find out, what a G9 will be like.

Nothing bad with Underbelly but it offers nothing new compared to what I already have and can render.

I think exactly the same. Not to mention compatibility across generations is huge.

He also seems to be missing a neck tattoo when compared to the original artist's model.

yeah but not everyone solidly wants to just use DAZ studio which is increasingly becoming a self contained box that requires expensive hardware.

I can make the current generation still work in Carrara and iClone 6 but each change reduces the ease of doing so and creates more things that only work in DAZ studio.

I do try and use DAZ studio but it simply lacks most of the features I want other than loading and posing DAZ people as well as being too demanding for my computer as every build always has been each time I finally upgrade to meet the needs of the previous one.

The only way I would embrace genesis 9 is if it were more cross platform with decent export options not just base FBX or vertex animation for HD.

Cool, it's Dave Bautista! Guess he's going to catch his Stuber now.

I am torn; I somehow like that dude. That he lacks gens is not of a problem for me, as I do not use the original anatomical elements.
But I wish there would be a way to unhide the tattoos, not that I do not like them, but would be strange if all shady white guys have the same tattoos on their arms, or?
The clothes are meh - again. A lot of the clothes in the recent bundles are done apparently by the same PA - and sorry, but I think they reduce the value of the bundles immensely.

I do not know if any of you noticed, but when Underbelly rented the Night Lounge from Marshian for himself alone, to have a drink and a cigar, have you found Goldilocks with her Rocker Outfit in the scenery? wink

I typically buy characters for their skin more than their shape and I was excited to see this guy coming...then I saw that his tattoos are completely unfinished, and not even unfinished in the respect that he's just on his way to full sleeves...it looks as if he was built to never be seen without that one specific rolled-sleeve shirt as there are wonky seams and things cut off abruptly. Disappointing to say the least.

He is a great character,  but the first thing I noticed was that he must shave his arms ... above where the shirt sleeves meet his forearm surprise

It sort of makes sense, because you don't want hair poking through the sleeves. Since the tattoos apparently do the same thing, it sounds as if he was meant to only wear the clothes in the bundle. It would have been nice if he had shirt/no-shirt arm hair options.

Still, a really impressive character. Unfortunately he's not really my style, and no discounts for me, so not worth getting him just because he's a great character .... that I might never use.

Actually not quite - one thing that we hairistue people find, is that if you a) have more body hair than normal and b) have a good deal of physical activity in generally the same type of clothes is that you LOSE (wear off) the body hair under the clothes.  For a character that works/is active his 'arm hairline' is quite normal.  In summer I sport the same due to short-sleeve shirts while in winter I lose most of my fore-arm hair (just when I *need* it!) due to long-sleeve shirts and sweaters.

I would have liked the option to customize the length (so could be only hands, fore-arms OR the full arm for those tank-top / shirtless workers).

All of the hair can be removed or hidden...

I don't think his arms are long, his legs are too small and short. Everything below the waist is smaller and not as detailed.

I have problems with his upper arms - shoulders.  I love the face but if he is a bodybuilder, those muscles are not connecting that way in a natural pose to his collar bone.

To the legs: the skin tone is not too different from his face, upper body, arms? It's usually not a problem because of the clothes.

It's not the skin tone on the legs, I think that's fine. It's the fact that it looks strange that his legs are smooth compared to his face. I expected rougher-looking knees and feet, with some vascularity throughout his legs.

But like others have concluded, he was meant to be wearing the clothes he was shown with in that early non-DAZ render, but it seems it was all taken apart to be used for G8M. It's why he appears incomplete and lacking. Still, it's good that he's an available shape for those who wanted him.

Wish it's Unreal engine support. Just Dreams! Damn it was just a character.

Just in case anyone picks this up, if you load the hair or the goatee, it won't show up in the preview window, you have to render it out. I was about to submit a ticket because nothing was showing up and I thought there was a problem and then I clicked render just to see and the goatee and hair showed up. I've never seen that before except through a window, but the scene just has him in it so I don't know.

He does look awesome though, and I do mostly gangster stuff, so this was an instant buy for me, but now I might return the bundle and just keep the character. As you can see in the shirt in this photo, his skin is bleeding through the shirt, and then if I go and expand it, then the vest immediately starts to disappar. So then I'd have to go and make the vest look way bigger than fitted just to accomodate the shirt that should be fine to throw a punch. I'm going to play around with it a little more, maybe bring it into Blender and see if the cloth sim can help. Sigh.

he's a good character but  doesn't look good as the artstation version. DAZ's SSS makes everything look cartoony.

Also the tiny little peach fuzz is gone.

The lighting is very different in these images. You can't expect similar results.

I went and clone stamped the shirt to fill it in, which is fine for stills but I do mainly animation so I'm still not sold on the clothes. But after color grading the shot, I found the details really were brought out in his skin. He's a cool character for sure.

Wasn't impressed by the previews yesterday. Less impressed now. I need more realistic male and female characters but this is way too limited.

Hellboy, since you have the character, is there an option for Underbelly without the tattoos on his forearms?  Thanks in advance.

    No, just tattoos on.

Hmm, Thanks. I may have to rethink purchasing him if I can't remove those horrid tattoes.

But wondering how  much detail I would loose if I applied a different texture without tattoes ???

It somehow does look like his hands are a lot bigger than human hands are suppose to be... is there the possibility to dial them to a more realistic size? If no, he won't even make it unto my wishlist...

Assuming you have the Genesis 8 Male Body Morphs, you can use the Hand Propagating Scale slider to reduce their size.

"CharacterKit"? Is that new terminology or have I just been unaware of it?

I posted an image earlier with another texture and I think he looked good. The real details are in the HD and normal maps. I know one usually don't want to make these things, but if your worry are the tattoos alone, you could just cut and paste forearms from another texture in a graphics editor and save a material preset. It's only one map.

The artstation version was rendered in a completely different program. Daz wasn't used at all in the creation of the original. The renders on Underbelly's product page are the Daz version so that's what you're paying for.
