Yes regular tutorial just for beginners, no time lapse , in main time use the free version so you get familiar with basic stuff, it will be easier later for you and trust me you can do cool stuff without big knowledge in Zbrush as long you get familiar with the basic functions
Thank you for doing this for the community!!!!
Thank you, that was sweet of you to say
, I made the tutorial last night, but it was so late, I just watched the tut and decided to make a new one little bit more clear , when I am working in Zbrush I don't think much just running on auto pilot with my routines and skipped some steps that should have been explained in the tut, so I will be ready this afternoon EST , the subtitles and edit take longer than the whole thing .
I am sure it going help some starters in Zbrush and my Dynamics Tab settings works great with Genesis since the figure is much smaller than the standard figures so running standard simulation settings will not work well for clothing on G and need to be adjusted , I will post also the settings when I am ready with the video-tut.
Thank you for taking the time and sharing your knowledge, looking forward to your tut!
You welcome, I am throwing in some Lazy Sweatshirt and Some quick Dress routines for the Dynamics .
Dress is in making right now so no preview , I use the same routines when creating clothing before in Zbrush but used GoZ for Poser to run the base cloth simulation ( not as good as you needed to prepare the mesh exactly) and after sculptured the smaller details what was time consuming process on a very high sub divided model, but in ZB2021 all you need is max 2 subdivisions for extracting the Normal and Displacement maps to use on low poly model in DS. Of course commercial clothing routines are little different as it request different path and I would keep it all symmetrical until it is rigged , then make another none symmetrical version and update the rigged base mesh in DS and save it, but if you need quick stuff for your renders this is the easy way , and if you load your favorite character you want to make clothing for, even better so you don't have to deal with adjusting body morphs . But I am sure once you pick up the basic , you can create whatever and how you want it to be.
Back to my dress and finishing the Tutorial for you guys
Looks great!
Here is the first tutorial with the very simple T-shirt , more tutorials as soon as I finish editing .
Below are the settings for the Dynamics TAB to use with Genesis
If you have any question let me know
Just watched it! Great tutorial. I'll try to make the T-shirt ASAP and may have questions at that time. I already learned some new tricks just watching it.
Thank you very much.
Thanks so much Cath! XO
This is amazeballs! Thanks for this!
i still haven't gotten GoZ working, but now that I'm being forced to do it manually I've actually ironed out a pretty speedy workflow the old-fashioned way so that I'm not so dependent on it. Yay!
Thank you so much for the tutorial- can't wait to try it on my next day off!
If possible- would you include how to import and export for those of us with Go-Z issues?
I redone it 3 times , something youtube did to the sharpness it was 1GB top quality , I hope you can see clear the values
Well this is not much about the t-shirt itself but the work flow and practice just to get comfortable with it for you guys and gals , if you have any question just type it down, happy to help you on the way.
Thank you !
Thanks Richard and you more than welcome
Thanks ! That what I do for official stuff , GoZ is ok for testing stuff or quick edit , but not really for final job , there are a lot of stuff missing when importing via GoZ so for the pro job manuall import is the way !
I will make short tutor about it on the way , I have 2 more in editor now , you should import manually into DS , so your model keeps all the data , polygroups and other stuff , GoZ is easy for replacing meshes , quick morphs and update UVs if you need it for "yesterday"' so definitely I will make one , thanks for the tip
If you have any idea what you would like to see just let me know , I don't know everything but enough to get you started with organic models ( hard edges modeling is just not my thing )
Potentially dumb question from a newbie: If I import a character + clothes, can I easily make the clothing dynamic?
Yes you can, but that would be a subject for another tutorial as it all depends of what kind of clothing and what part can be made dynamic or not
you will have 2 options, run the simulation or edit dynamics with a cloth brush while simulation is on , heavy density clothing will not work so there is a limit
but for example you want to make dynamic lower part of the skirt, dress , jacket , or scarf , all you will have to do is masking everything else on the clothing that you don't want to be simulated , clothing and parts of the clothing that are not welded will fall down , the edged need to be masket .
Quick example , you import posed figure in a dress, mask the parts you don't want to be dynamic and run the simulation , 2 seconds later you ready to export back the clothing as morph into D|S via GoZ or manually and ready for render .
No question is dumb , everyone is on a different level and this feature is new so everyone is newbie to it .
Dynamics in Zbrush do more than only dynamic clothing , it is also deformer , and dynamic force
I made funny short animation video in DS and ZB , how cool deformers works , you can also animate it in D|S as well as your clothing , will post when edited .
Look at the image below, imported posed G with clothing, masked the lower part of the clothing then reversed the mask, so the upper part don't deform and run 2 second simulation and done , morph was loaded in DS and ready for a render
Finally beautiful PandyGirl's bed have the comforter that can actually cover your figure lol
I made new one from a simple D|S primitive CUBE , the original was too heavy for simulation in ZB2021
so much fun !
I tried different method today, I rendered exactly front shot on G8F in D|S, then imported the image to Photoshop, create a layer on top of it , so I can paint the clothing pattern to use with snapchat in Zbrush, and here is the result after stimulation , The white color is the fabric, the red color are the openings in the clothing and the black background is the alpha , it is actually very fun to do as any type of pattern can be painted , however the simulation take little longer as the clothing are in higher resolution and need to be remeshed after , however I kept exactly the symmetry since it was just dynamic simulation , this type of clothing can be easy be used for rigging and d-force as well since it is one full geometry
P.S this method reminds me. little of MD , the snapchat weld the pattern together and simulation contract it to the model body then the gravity do the rest , kinda bad copy of the same thing but it is working ., the only problem here is using patterns that the back will be the same as the front, so little limited in design and need to be edited after welding the patterns with snapchat , for example if you create a bikini the back will have the front , but it is easy to edit with the mask and add the new polygroups before running the simulation
Many thanks Cath ! some homework to do now
!
You welcome , I was playing with the pattern , here dress #2 , just practicing
later today I will upload next tutorial about the pattern
Hi Guys, check out new tutorial , create custom clothing patterns in Photoshop for Zbrush
P.S I forgot to show you one little step, when you create the mesh using Lightbox and Snapchat , you can select the brush icon under subtools ( next to the mesh) and see the areas that have to be hidden in red color as you painted on your patterns
I hope you like
Cath
Both tutorials are interesting and useful.
Thanks for doing these.
Thanks
Pixologic is pleased to release ZBrush 2021.1. This important update to ZBrush 2021 includes enhancements and updates you can read about at: https://www.zbrushcentral.com/t/zbrush-2021-1-released/380833
P.S easy way to update to 2021.1 is via the ZUpgrader.exe it will not messing up your GoZ settings
just go to the pixologic folder. and click the application to quick update , no key or activation needed
WONDERFUL, thank you for the tutorial honey! XO
You welcome Richard , I have in edit one more tutor about little more advanced patterns and the effect on the simulation, since contraction usually create very skinny clothing , so I will show you how to get the extra fabric automatic in the process
P.S Function SNAPCHAT in Lightbox should be actually called SNAPSHOT in my last tutor lol
Just tried new templates. the pattern precision was the key , made the job much easier
quick job , made some lazy beach set and doll dress with jacket from another pattern
I am addicted now lol what about you guys? anything you did so far ?
Your Daily dose of Zbrush2021 Dynamic Sugar
LOL. Now I'm hungry! LOL
I kept wondering about that, kept thinking that snapchat was like some app on a phone or something I had heard of before, and wondering why zbrush would have named it that lol.
Yes Snapchat is an mobile app , I was on auto pilot again lol
