I got both purple banners, but I am only interested in the smallest bundle.

Does anyone know, whether the katanas and their sheaths can be removed from the outfit, please?

Katanas, Katana sheaths, Daggers, Dagger sheaths are all separate items.

(There are also poses for the weapons in the hands.)

Thank you. I really like the outfit, but not the katanas as a type of weapons. I would have preferred flat boots too, not semi-high heels, but what can one do?

I think I am going to pull the trigger on the smallest bundle.

I wonder if original authors of this character and concepts of her outfit know (Tristan Liu and Siwoo Kin at Artstation), that their work is now being sold in Daz Store. I was very surprised to see that «Stealth Fighter Poses for Genesis 8 Female and Tara» is using Tristan Liu’s render, taken directly from his Artstation page, as a promotional material despite the fact that it hasn’t been rendered in Iray (or Daz Studio for that matter) and uses XGen hair. And overhaul character looks very different on said render and the rest of the promotional materials.

In the past, daz has worked with original creators getting their figures into daz studio - the underbelly bundle was exactly that. So yes, I would say they are aware.

  • I am definitiely passing on this bundle, as there is nothing I can use. Also, as far as the scar, does applying a different skin texture work? If not, then I think DAZ shot themselves in the foot, as someone stated, makes her less versital

Also, as far as the scar, does applying a different skin texture work?

As in, "applying a completely different texture to Tara" (in which case, the answer is definitely yes, she's a G8F shape so any G8F texture will work) or "using the scar on other textures" (in which case the answer is probably no, since the product page doesn't list LIE or overlay for the scar).

I don't get it - we ask for Rune, but Daz gives us a slim gal with no visible muscle tone and a goofy face instead. She looks more like a clumsy alchemist that tripped and fell on her own sword than a battle-scarred warrior.

That said, the mega bundle is $90.14 for me, or $40.14 after the $50 credit. Of the items, I own only two outfits (the ones from the Tasha and Darcy bundles), and not their texture packs, so it's not a bad deal... But it's not great either.

On the fence. Leaning toward skipping it.

Would depend on if the scarring is accomplished with something like a normal map. But if it were from a normal map, it would be perhaps an indentation or ridging and would not contain any coloration that enhances the scar area, I would imagine.

I'm not so much into the bundles but I just have to say that Tara (while not really being an "8" character) is the most gorgeous and fun Daz Originals character released so far. I'm totally in love with her (and I usually only buy characters for their skins). I love her style and would love it if Daz releases characters in a similar vein in the future.

10/10 from me, great job Daz. :)

Exactly... too bad the base figure is for me (!) the only interesting part of the "deal", which means she ends up in my wishlist until discounted even more than now...

I think it's interesting to see old stuff getting bundled up in these deals... for me there's reasons why none of the old items in this deal ended in my possession yet - or even on my wishlist - so no sweetening whatever will achieve it to change my mind... but it's an interesting new sales tactic. Likewise the "spend money today and get a return of money tomorrow that you can spend only here..." sales tactic is interesting. Why not just reduce the price right now? Must be some psycological thingy to keep people spending more money than they would otherwise...

I just think the promo banner is (probably intended) misleading. There is no Tara 8 and it's not a pro bundle - it's just a content bundle with additional character like staff picks, Ogre Camp Bundle or the Skull Island Bundle.

    • Tara for Genesis 8 Female (not Tara 8 as written on the promo banner)
    • Tara is not listed under Core 8 figures https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-8-core-figures
    • Old stuff from other bundles
    • Very detailed looking character, but not as separate HD Add-on. (Ok, not every pro bundle has HD Add-on, but it's not toonish enough that Daz would do it without it)

Other things I found annoying so far:

    • Scar you can't remove, but there is a skin version without scar, you can see on the hair previews. You just don't get this skin version.
    • 2 bundles contain Tara, the middle one (which I probably would have purchased) doesn't.

While the character looks interesting, I don't see her as a warrior.
I don't get her at the current conditions. Maybe later if there is a scar-less skin availabe and the deal probably gets more exciting.

It appears Daz is listening to the masses. The three bundles offer more choices and they are all good deals unless you already own portions of them. Considering how much I own it's surprising I don't own any of the old items. I have the 20% banner, if I got the first two bundles it's $56 for both after the store credit. Really good deal to get all those outfits. But the thing is, I have plenty of equivalent outfits. So it's a pass for me. You can't expect every sale to cater just to you and you only. I would have liked seeing a "Stuff Only" bundle. Put all those outfits in a bundle and I probably would have jumped on it. The fantasy landscapes and lighting items, I don't want them, they maybe could have been in their own bundle which would have appealed to others.

For me (!) that figure in the hair promo doesn't really look like it's Tara for G8F. Different shape of the face and only a texture which resembles the Tara texture, but without a scar and also without the moles on the right side of the face... so IMHO not Tara 8, but a kinda close looking figure...

And considering the amount of G8 figures I own already, equipping Tara for G8F with a nice skin without scar and more makeup options seems fairly easy to me wink

By announcing her as "Tara 8" - like "Honni 8", "Kwan 8", "Kayo 8" and all the other "Name 8" figures - they make the customers think that it's another base figure... not that I bother about that... devil

With a double purple banner (20% off as collector and 40% off Mega Bundle due to owning half of it) and a $50 rebate, the Mega Bundle comes out to a net of $8.79 for Tara 8, Tara Hair, Tara Outfit and Textures, Black Market Blades, Olive Grove, Mediterranean Shrubs, Monochrome Edition Lights, and two Jefferson AF scenes. It looks like Daz confuses themselves with these sales machinations (since it took over an hour to get the right items in the bundle).

The Tara Outfit looks like Linday. I hope they're getting Luthbel to do Holt 8's outfit. I'd rather have one uber-quality outfit in a "Pro" bundle than four pieces of hard drive jetsam. Her morph seems like it overpowers the other Core Figures in the combination render. She's a bit stylized for my tastes---like Ninive 6 (whom I love) went feral---but she should mix well at lower percentages.

70% off five PA items and 86% off five DO items makes this a useful deal to me.

But it's not really $8.79...yeah you get $50 store credit tomorrow...but your figure of $8.79 factors that $50 going towards the bundle (and repurchasing things you already own...and in my case content I wouldn't otherwise want)...instead of buying $50 worth of stuff you've been coveting on your wishlist. You're still actually out $58.79. I hope that makes sense, lol.

For me, the mega bundle comes to $70.86 with the purple banner (extra 32% off for me). I want nothing to do with any of the new stuff short of Tara herself, her outfit/textures, and the pose pack...so everything else is throwaway for me. That $50 store credit would bring it down to $20.86...so is it still worth it? I dunno...because I'd still be out $70.86 up front.

The base Tara character is also priced like a DAZ core figure ($44.95 before discount) rather than a PA figure (typically $18.95 these days).

    yes

As I don't get a purple banner, I'd have to pay the full price, with the store credit reducing it to ~ $60.- for tons of stuff I have not bought yet for a reason - or  several reasons in fact - which makes it for me into a quite bad deal, even when the extra %s off for the motivational items sweeten it up a bit again. But there's not enough wishlisted stuff for me in those motivational items that it would sweeten it up enough.

Another thing is - like with most Pro packs - that there's too much stuff in the pack that I'm neither interested in nor I could or would use. So these packs most of the time leave me with a feeling of having to pay for stuff I won't use/don't need...

If DAZ would instead offer a list of items from which I could build my own bundle, the chances for me to be interested would be a lot higher.

But as probably enough people seem to buy the bundles as they are, there's no need for DAZ to change the system... which is okay with me, too, as it keeps me from spending even more money on this hobby devil

Yep, it's the pricing.  Is Daz perhaps thinking about re-doing how bundles are being done?  The only starter bundles I own were freebies; otherwise, I don't buy those at all.  Tara has me confused....I do like the new outfit, but if you get the base bundle with Tara, the hair and the outfit, with the discounts I was offered and the store credit, it's literally only a few bucks more for the third bundle.

Yeah, normally there are only one or two items I'd want. Most of the time when I buy a bundle, half the stuff doesn't even get installed. And with those additional % off deal incentives...it just doesn't make them good enough to jump. I have quite a few things on my wishlist, but nothing I need *now* and nothing I couldn't get for just as cheap if I wait for a few flash sales. So there's really no incentive for me.

So do I spend ~$70 to get $50 in store credit tomorrow only to get a bunch of stuff I don't want in that bundle...or do I spend ~$30 on just the base bundle and get $10 in store credit tomorrow and then just hand myself $40? LOL.

In this promo for Tara, her eyelash on the winking eye is not attached to the eyelid and is clipping, and her hair is clipping in and out of her cheek. In the promos where she grins, the mouth textures seem  very distorted. It could almost work as rough skin from very bad acne scars, except that texture is only around the mouth. I like the bundle offer- but just can't see buying a model with so many issues. Wish Daz would let a PA like Lyoness or Darwinsmisshap or Linday make this type of character

Please remember that if you actually want Daz to know your thoughts on this, you need to do a ticket as these forums are peer-to-peer.

There is no Feedback option in tickets. I think there was at some point, but it was removed.

Yeah, I kind of like the trees and that, but they'll show up in Fast Grab eventually.  I kind of like Tara, although they could have picked another name since Tara 2.  I can put a scarless skin on her if I want, and use her scarred skin on other characters, which works out.  Maybe untoon her with a base character.  Not mad about the hair.  The outfit kind of sells the mini-bundle, though.  It's just so nicely made (I hope).

I like the base shape. It would be nice to get other characters in that manga-fusion style. Interesting to see a character with yellowed less than white teeth...an easy fix though.

Daz store seems to have changed the way bundles are being marketed. Old content added to new bundles and figures with additional base figures not related to one another used to plump up the bundle.

Seems like they just don't have enough new stuff to meet the demands of a weekly release.

Again, I'm amazed by the main outfit. The style, the double swords etc. The character looks great but extra bonsus discount on Daz originals, the outfit the hair AND $50 in store credit for later. Come on. Take my money!

I like the character, although I'm not sure if this particular offer is something I want to spring for. I'd love to see more sculpts that fall in this stylized-but-not-cartoony range.

The scar is indeed part of the Normal map.

There are no other options in the Texture folder for the face. The facial textures: 1 Diffuse, 1 Normal, 1 Specularity, 1 SSS map.

Is the $122 price a store glitch or is it supposed to be that price? That's a lot higher than any pro bundle I've seen, but the bundle is a bit bigger.
