    do armadillos eat tortillas?

Wikipedia/Armadillo: "The diets of different armadillo species vary, but consist mainly of insects, grubs, and other invertebrates. Some species, however, feed almost entirely on ants and termites."
    Maybe grub burritos. :)

So I broke down and installed DIM, in an attempt to get a product working (for some reason, I can't load the fur from the Royal Asian Dragon, and no, DIM didn't help). Course, the dumb thing wanted to download my whole mess of content in a new folder. I would prefer to use my old one, thank you very much. It may be messy but I like it all under one folder.

Now I got a message that it wants a blank folder but I assume I can set it to my old one with no trouble, correct?

...DIM is useless to me without a net connection. I've been told there is a way to DL to my notebook and transfer it to the workstation, but when I tried that the last time, nothing appeared in the Downloads/Ready to Install pane on the workstation.

All heck broke loose about 5:30. Thought I was going to blow all the way to Oz. Sideways rain. Quiet now.

Winds in the Southern Hemisphere are especially strong this year :)

In New England it's been a rather moderate summer. Boston hasn't had a single heat wave yet. Strange.

    Dana
...another heat wave on the way here early next week, mid 90s. Haven't broken 100° so far at least (came close on two occasions at 99° though).

In Ruttsville, something is always happening! Here, the seniors at UAT (University of Arcanum and Technology) pull a prank on the town! It's not a REAL dragon, of course! Illusions 401 is a great class, everyone loves it!

Fun fact: the UAT football team is called the Armadillos because the players polymorph into armadillos for the game. GO ARMADILLOS! :cheese:

...now that at last is cool public art. I'll have to forward that to our transit commission. Much better than the ghastly thing below they wanted to put up at on of the tram stations.

Good beer makes up for a lot of things. There are NO breweries of any kind in Tulsa.

trying to see the ocean queen draggie, rdna esstreemly slow

RDNA wouldn't even load for me. I took a peek at Rendo for the city blocks but I may need to wait for next payday. But I was actually able to get into my account at Rendo, which was a big surprise. The old email that it was tied too is gone the way of the dodo and I had forgotten to change it to my new email before I closed the old, so I thought I'd never recover Rendo. I didn't have a lot there, but it's nice to know that what I do have is still available.
...may have to consider a few of these sets as well once I get some steady cashflow again.

Unfortunately they will have to wait in queue with the NFX studios' Blue Collar Bungalows and Houses still on my wishlist here.

Also still waiting on Urban Sprawl 3. From the WIP pics I saw a while back It looks to be another awesome Stonemason production.

@Kyoto: Best of luck with your next interview! :cheese:

Unix/Linux is written almost entirely in C. The C language has been implemented on almost every computer known to Man, thus making Unix/Linux extremely portable as very little machine-specific code is required in most cases.

C is also a very concise language and produces compact, optimized code - C++ typically generates larger code
AND the language "does things for you" under the hood, removing control of everything from the programmer.

I code in C 80% of the time, then it's C++ and C#, a touch of Java, and yes - low level assembly language (VERY machine-specific).

    Lecture over... :red:

...thank you. Both the interview and assessment went very well. The hours, and as I mentioned, the commute are much better than the west side site. If Thy hire me, I'll b in for 6 weeks paid training. Should know later today.

This was the reason I was AWOL from the forums yesterday.

As I had time on my transit ticket (just got a day ticket) and was in the neighbourhood, took a side trip to the airport on the new tram line to do a bit of plane watching. Pretty disappointing compared to the "old days". No more of the "big jets" I remember like 707s, 720s, 727s, DC-8s, 757s, 767s etc. With all the downsizing airlines are doing these days most flights in and out of here are now on turboprops or what I call "toy jetliners" (those "micro" commuter jets) which make even an old DC-9 series 10 or 737-100 look like a "jumbo jet" in comparison. The most exciting events all afternoon were a formation of F-15s from the local air reserve which took off for routine patrol (afterburners lit) and a FedEx MD-11 (basically a cargo version of the DC-10) that landed. Sad, considering Portland used to be a bustling "International" airport.

Interesting that Linux is written in C and not assembly/machine code.

Twenty minutes to go before it's time to head home. Friend is giving me a lift since fiancé is still in McAllen, though he just finished. So he's going to eat, grab coffee and head home. He may even get home before the sun sets.

    KK, crossing fingers for you

I spent a lot of my wandering early days on 727s.. very solid aircraft, all my bad experiences were on 737s... :blank:

    I've done DC-10s, I think.... meh..

C is wildly portable by design, and gives the programmer great power.. I've ported an entire operting system from one processor to another in 3 days because it was 99% C code. :bug:

I think I'm going to start a fight on the ambient music forum about how sexist music is..

Prolly get banned, I have strong opinions :red: 3D seems pretty gender-neutral at this stage, it used to be very male-dominated.

Oh well... More beer and I won't care! :cheese:

LOL thing.. I went into a realtime chat room as a female and I got over 12 whispers inside 30 seconds.. no wonder women leave.. geesh! Though I do a good female chatter, been around women so long.. heh.. :red:
