It is with a heavy heart that Lisa, myself and our HiveWire team announce the closing of our HiveWire store.

We very much appreciate the many years of support to our store and the wonderful products that have been showcased and sold there.

Looks like another one is biting the dust. Such a bummer, less comepetition is never a good thing.

We are making arrangements for customers to have till the end of January 2021 to be able to download all content they have purchased, even though the actual store will close on January 4th.

Be sure if you are a customer there to grab the latest version of any products you have for your own archival purposes.

Oh man. :( That's a sad thing for sure. Competition can be a good and healthy thing. Plus HiveWire has some good animals. It would be great if they were able to move some of their content here though. Hopefully it's something they will consider. It would be a real shame if those products were just not available anywhere anymore.

Edit: Where is the announcement? I can't find it.

Edit 2: Thanks TheKD for adding the link to the announcement. :)

from Chris: "We have made arrangements to have our HiveWire products available at the Renderosity marketplace. We currently also have our products available at the Reallusion store for their specific software formats.

Chris looks familiar, was him on Daz before right?

Oh, I see. Bummer that the didn't choose to migrate their products to Daz3D.

I don't know who Chris is and I don't even know where you guys are reading this info from. lol

We will have a final, FINAL storewide sale beginning the first of December and will run til the first week in January 2021.

    Just I read this sentence.

It's sad but it's not the end of the adventure yet, new products are still in development.

What a bummer! Their animals are top notch quality, I was really waiting for an elk and a elephant. crying

I followed their development threads and always hoped they would add more people to the team to increase the production output.

They will continue creating content, it will be sold at Rendo (at least for HW originals)

  • Just a, uh, note to add based on the selected quote from Dan's post above:

"We will have a final, FINAL storewide sale beginning the first of December and will run til the first week in January 2021. Many of these products will NOT be moving forward to be published or made available elsewhere, perhaps due to the age of the product, quality, or acceptance value to other stores."

So, while some products will be finding new homes, they might not all be. So it's still a good reason to check on what you want from there before then.

Oops, guess I should read it all first, LOL

Good to know, maybe I'll see a new elk or elephant afterall.

This is very sad news. As a former business owner I see it as a dream failed. I own some of their products (all excellent quality) and it's good to know their work will continue and be available on RR. Sometimes overhead and operating costs exceeds the budget and eats the profits. It's a rough time for everyone, especially for all businesses, and it seems obvious HW still want to be part of the 3D industry, and will be in a more limited way at RR. I can't help but notice how some of the discussions have been pretty harsh and non-supportive of even DAZ as it stuggles thru its troublesome times. Hopefully we can all learn to be kinder & more supportive, because one never knows the hardships that others might be enduring.

They've started selling HW originals at Rendo for a while now.  I hope their artists find good homes.

a lot of the content on these satellite stores are so bad in quality they are not in direct competition with Daz anyway.

The philosophers egg pup is cute and the newborn pup skin is great on the chi. Enjoy smiley

I disagree when it comes to HW products. Some of the artists selling at their store used to sell at DAZ, so the quality isn't subpar. Personally I prefer their dog and cat models over the DAZ ones. I liked the HW horse better as well till Linday come out with their version for the horse 2. Variety, options and competition are always a good thing IMO..

well the daz cat is absolutely deformed and hideous, so no arguments there.

  • So, while some products will be finding new homes, they might not all be.

In some way I remebered the Sanctum Art figures, lucky me I got when available.

I literally just bought something the other day. Guess I'll have to re-download everything and make sure it gets backed up in case I have a system meltdown at some point. Hopefully the animal stuff will all show up on Renderosity...I know the horse and cat and dog stuff has (and to add to confusion, I've bought about half of it on Rendo and the other half on the HW site, so it's always been confusing which pieces I had or didn't have). The bird stuff is also good...I've been waiting for the Raven/Crow pack to get updated for Iray.

I only keep hope hope hoping that AM will set up Catalyzer presets for the HiveWire animals...because I'd soooo pay.

I gave up on Turbosquid because it's just so friggen expensive.

i saw the prices for some human characters on Turbosquid.   $249 for a female character during the black friday sale?  It is only in obj 3DS Max format.  Hivewire has some characters and skin textures that work in Daz Studio.

Wow Shocking. Really sad news indeed.

  • That's upsetting news. I appreciate the heads up though. I just downloaded what few things I'd purchased over there. It's sad when places like that shut down. Thankfully, I didn't have much from over there.

My suggestion for everyone is to have multiple ways to backup your purchases in case something happens since you won't be able to go back to get them after they shut down complete. As someone who lost a lot of RDNA stuff that never migrated over to the Daz store when my computer and backup drives were stolen recently, it pays to invest in cloud backup as well. Lesson learned. Backing stuff up to keep at home just doesn't cut it anymore.

    Damn :(

    Laurie

  • do you think some of the content will be bought and brought over here? They did sell some stuff here at one stage the Hw3d Big Cat, Cub, Panther and Cougar till they were removed will those come back here - I already bought them here day 1 of release here. So is Rendo and share CG the only ones left? Kinda like Adobe/Microsoft owning everything

  • Ohhhhh crying sad. Just bought the tiger and the toucans. Was hoping that the other birds could have Iray updates.
good luck to all of you at HW heart
