mdbruffy, I would just build some modular components for the upper sensor area, Items that can be swapped out to change the appearance of the deck without having to build the entire thing. A couple different consoles, a chair or two, just enough to put together a station or two as needed. You can always add more later as the story needs.
That's what I was thinking. Just a one or two stations. Something for the camera to catch depending on the angles.
Another update:
That's nice work
Thank you. It's getting there. I'm working on the front half now.
Getting near the end. This shot is looking toward the front of the Bridge. All the side screens are in place now. I still need to work up the texture maps, and then I can focus on the Main Screen and all the details around it.
Looking forward to playing with those sets, Madison :).
The Dart '457' expansion is up (just didn't get a chance to drop a note over the weekend ;) ).

Thank you. It's just one, but it's involved.
The Dart looks great! And Retroprise makes an appearance! :-)

Star Trek #20 "The Cage" uniform for M4V4 (Valiant and Courageous)

This Beast is about 90% done. Just the forward viewscreen alcove and a console prop for the sensor deck. And the graphics display on the side screens really were that basic in ST:TMP. But the screens are mapped, so I can go back and change them if I decide to.
first off , i need to apologize to ptrope for frankenstiening his dart add ons,
but the calipso sub makes a pretty nifty fighter craft
Took a break from UVing before my brain broke. :) I noted the two assembled ships I created to provide the parts the CCS needed
to build them, were just sitting there doing nothing, so I uploaded them to my deviant art page. TOS USS Miranda and the USS Federation.
Hope you like. ^_-

Thank you!
Looks good. Welcome back!!
Thank you very much :-)
I've posted the links under "more ships" so the new ones don't get lost just yet in that super duper long list ;-)
....
All the new items [Dart add-on and clothing textures] were posted the other night.
While I'm working through the Ship list, there were a lot of broken links and/or removals so am cleaning that up to reflect what is good of what is already there. Bit of a rush job as guess what, there's a beta store which so far I haven't found but have read about in the forums and then, there's talk/action going to be happening for, are you ready, another forum. "let us pray".
Sidenote: We had a lot of serious rumbling as something passed by this morning ... hopefully whatever keeps missing.
Question for those who know how to take pictures, the outside light was so low, the camera in any setting produced images that looked more "black and white [shades of grey] and even though I could see a reddish object, the camera couldn't pick up the colour. I have already asked at camera stores which certainly didn't earn their title well for anything I have read of or know of that could help the camera "see" this other light source better. So, Does anybody know of a trick or something to assist the camera? We're expecting a few more days of "storms" and for some quirky reason, it needs some cloud to be seen, so would really like to get a decent photo of this if it is at all possible. tyia
Tonight's update- Almost done.
* First, get a tripod and a remote shutter release - you'll need both.
* Second, check your camera's instruction manual for how to take a long-duration shot.
When you're ready to take the photo:
Put the camera on the tripod, and connect the remote shutter release to the camera (either physically or by radio/IR). That keeps the camera from shaking.
Set the duration of the shot to a half-second.
Point the camera at the object, let go of the camera (so your pulse doesn't shake it) and use the remote to take the photo.
If it's still too dark, set the duration of the shot to a full second and try again. Usually, that's enough, but blurring will become obvious. (I had one photo take a three-second duration, once. The shot was blurry as all get out, but I could see things in the picture that I couldn't see with the naked eye without a flashlight.)
Pleas forgive me if this has been posted before. Just been busy from the sales, and now my complete excitement over not needing to fudge a Poser thing to almost not work in Daz Studio 4.6 after days of ripping out my hair.
It's a phenomenal looking ship! One duf to load the thing, and render away.

There was some discussion over the markings being flaky, I have yet to try them. I don't care right now, it's for daz studio, and it works with no fussing around with multiple files never meant for studio.
Apparently I need to make my test room a little bigger, lol.
(edit)
Replaced smaller pics with larger renders, and added three more angles.
very cool dude , ho likely is it that you might get working on a klingon , romulan or gorn kit too
Well the two ships look cool in renders Greywolf-Starkiller, I need to figure out what to do with the "pp2" file I guess. where is wilmap when I need another good tutorial for this kind of free stuff, lol. Google, help. where do I copy a pp2 file, daz or poser content... will daz studio 4.6 even open them?
(Edit, "O" just drag it from the folder in windows, into the view-field, then save as a duf. that works.)
As for deviant art, I still need to sign up there, I thought I had years ago, hmmm. Another headache for another day I guess.
(EDIT2)
Well the ship dose look good, after fussing with invisible pp2 files in my content library, lol. Issues with ambient? where?
A .pp2 made by anybody, has to go into the Poser content folders, ie: Runtime > libraries > props > wherever ....
Then in D/S, NOT from the D/S start, but from the Poser Content [shown in your image just underneath the D/S start], go to props and it'll show from whichever folder you put it in.
For ambient, check the settings [and colours] on the Surface Tab ... files between Poser and D/S always need some tweaking because they read some information quite differently.
* First, get a tripod and a remote shutter release - you'll need both.
* Second, check your camera's instruction manual for how to take a long-duration shot.

Thank you very much. I have a tripod ... will have to investigate for a remote shutter release.
Because this red thing fleets in and out of visibility I was thinking "fast picture" ... so will reverse thinking on that and see what happens if we get any openings at all today. Right now the sky is 100% clouds and pouring. Will get the tripod set up though.
Better too many posts than a miss ;-) I didn't know either so had quietly added that and the other to the list under More Ships.
Saber Class Starship
btw - Does ANYBODY know what's going on at Foundation3D, EVERY download "failed".
Surface madness between Poser and Studio. It's part of the reason I usually just don't bother with stuff not made for Studio. As for the ambient issues, it is just a mater of finding the surface in the surface tab, and adjusting it's brightness.
I set the opacity from 65% down to 50 %, and the ambient color from 255 down to 192, on the nacelle cover-thing.
As for the polygon artifacts, it is not a tiled map, as there are no maps at all here. This looks like a polygon edge pile-up glitch. I can't fix that, it is way over my head.
Hmmmm. Good thing you caught that. I have DS 4.6 but use Poser for this work. Poser doesn't have the problem. Did you set
the smoothing angle for ALL the materials to 25 degrees? Both Poser and DS like to blow things up like a balloon if it set above
that, and THAT creates all kinds of smoothing errors. In Poser, I've done that, which is why the pics are smooth. The smoothing angle
for DS materials will be right at the bottom of each material's properties list, just below the on/off switch for smoothing. How that helps.

I don't think so. Many TOS Federation ship parts are interchangeable, and with a few parts, you can do many
styles of ship. There was only one ship ever shown for the Klingons or Romulans. Even in the Next Gen Trek
and the MP Trek, you can build many ships with a few parts, but Klingon and Romulan ships are so different
from each other, sharing only a basic shape. You'd need to build each ship entirely from scratch. They're just
not modular like Federation ships are.
To also be honest, I'm not too sure I could do a Klingon ship, as they are very organic in shape, which is why
they are not modular like the Fed ships. I think they had designs in the old role playing game for various ships
once. ^_-

That polygon goo mess is why I try "remaking" things. Quads, not tris work best. Also some programs either don't weld all the face normals OR Hexagon and/or D/S doesn't read them as welded. Max [if one has it] can export an .obj file for D/S settings and one can choose quads. Never a perfect mesh of course but usually provides a workable start [except that last batch I tried, D/S read everything as 0 opacity] So that translated into quite a dance of workarounds to get a good finished file ... hence I certainly haven't got a completed set but maybe one day.

The photos! :-)
Okay it's pouring rain, set up tripod, put a $3 webcam on it, adjusted colour saturation for the display well before anything showed up. To note, this cannot be seen with the unaided eye save possibly for a hint of shadow if one knows exactly where to look. The regular cameras I use can't see it all of course, just clouds. While typing this, it came back for a second showing.
Here's a preview for anybody interested. The rest of my photos are over in my DA Gallery and no, these are not yet posted there ;-)
Finally :-) The link lists are basically cleaned up/updated. I know there are some missing goodies here and there and will add them to the list over time [when i find them or somebody sends me a PM].
