Setting the wayback machine to "a while ago"...

Every now and then I have a go at adjusting the materials on Ptrope's Flatcomm and Tricomm freebies to work in DAZ|Studio. I haven't had much success yet, no matter what I try, it just doesn't look right. Has anyone out there had more luck?

A captain has the option to outfit his/her crew with any uniform they want, but "official" uniform for Starfleet is the Odyssey uniform. The time period is 25 century.

Was sure I saw a negative in here somewhere about everybody's visors but can't find it now to quote. So just barely have I decided to leave mine posted. I have tested in Poser and it worketh fine. It could made to fit Andy. If anything can be made to fit Andy, it will fit any figure I'm aware of. There is a "cover" in front of the 'rods' which may be throwing some for a loop. In some scenes Georgi sees energy in walls and stuff like that. That is the purpose for the cover which is otherwise has opacity at about 0. Very had to put one picture on many rods.

Maybe one day if and when I have time and if that delightful incoming fireball really does not land in our front yard ... I'll remake some props.

Thank you Russ, link posted :-)

Ok, I have made a variant of the old ST dustbuster, but it's currently just an OBJ with material zones since I am still in the process of setting up my new computer.

Does anyone have the time to texture and turn it into a prop/smartprop?

The recent passing of Nimoy has compelled me to try a composition I attempted several years ago without much success, staging the scene depicted in the plastic assembly model kit, Spock confronting a three headed "space" hydra. This time around, things just seem to be falling into place. Likely, I have a stronger motivation now.

Beautiful! Really looking forward to the completed pic :).

Ptrope, would I be breaking the rules of the monthly art challenge within the TrekBBS fan art forums if I show the finished composition here? It's what I intend to submit to the the "tribute" theme for March.

    Sincerely,

    Bill

Did you also add the "STO21 NVent3d's Explorer TNG " as well? I didn't see it listed.

Nope! It just needs to be something created for the current challenge - no exclusivity to the site is needed. ;)

In that case, here's what I've submitted upon the fan art forum.

But I couldn't have done it without the contributions from the following...

    Michael 2 P4...DAZ.com
    Face morph...Porthos
    Uniform tunic...XCalPro
    Uniform pants...XCalPro
    Uniform boots...XCalPro
    Tricorder...XCalPro
    Phaser...MechMaster
    Communicator...MattyManx/Sgreco
    Spock hair...Mylochka
    Dragon's Keep...AntFarm
    Twister sky-dome...AntFarm
    RDNA XenoFlora...Traveler
    Hydra...MallenLane
    Enterprise...MattyManx/David Metlesits

So, who among us built this model kit, either as kids in the 70s or since Round2 reissued the kit in 2009? I did, at least during the mid 70s. I've bought two boxes of the Round2 reissue, but I've yet to assemble them. But I hope to do them "right". I even purchased an "after market" package that comes with replacement hands holding a far more accurate phaser and communicator. It also has a new head, a single resin piece, looking so much like Nimoy in make-up that it's almost unnerving. I got another set from the same company that comes with Kirk's head. They did equally well with his features. And as many of us can attest, Shatner's features tend to prove a bit elusive. A lot of toys and statuettes just don't quite "capture" his look. This company did.

    Sincerely,

    Bill

Bill that looks incredible! And I raise my hand- built the model back in the 70s. :-)

I did, but it didn't look anywhere near as good as this.

Okay not that I am or am not working on them, but If I were to release 2009 Trek uni's (dress and duty) for Genesis 2, should I also make them for the Gen 4 characters?

Well given that the 2009 movie was a reboot of the series and is tehcnically an alternate or diverging timeline maybe something based on the Trailblazers set you have since it is around that maybe? Give me a little time to think on this and I might have a few ideas for you.

Anyone remember or know what Dr.Crusher's rank was at the end of Next Gen's TV run? Was it Lt.Commander or full Commander?

As far as I can remember it was Lt-Commander, but I may be wrong.

I know Worf was promoted in "Generations" to Commander. And I think Geordi was a commander by the end of the series. But I couldn't remember If Dr.Crusher was.
