Nice find on the dinosaur vid :-)

Our grocery store used to have its own delivery system but they stopped it in favour of letting Instacart take over. Don't know one customer that thinks this was a clever move. Nothing's on sale, and they charge for EVERYTHING ... fair enough for the most part but honestly charging more to deliver water? Like that's a basic part of many grocery orders.

On a happy note though did some looking around and found another place to try my next grocery order at. They'll keep the store's sale prices too :-)

That reminds me, saw this at Safeway a little while back, last month I think?  Recognized the dino model immediately :)

I think I'm going to try going to Winco this week. I used to shop there in the before time. The interesting thing about Winco is that while they don't have the same selection as other stores, it's quality stuff for really low prices. It's less noticeable when you're adding things to the cart, but at check out (at least at first) the price is a shocker, in a good way. The problem is that as the weeks went by, I found myself putting more and more in my cart cause "everything's so cheap here," and then I started to end up with the same old price as before at checkout. But I've heard good things about the company and my grocery bill is getting pretty bad lately, so it's probably worth a look-see. I'll just have to restrain myself from impulse buying.

...yeah for myself Winco it's a 2 bus 40 min tip trip to get there whereas there's a Safeway 3 blocks away and a Fred Meyer about a 15 min walk.

...well smoke from all the fires finally got bad here. The West hills were shrouded in haze as were buildings in downtown.  The sun was orange for most of the afternoon and then became totally obscured before it set. Air quality has been upped to "moderate" bordering on "unhealthy (93, 100 is "unhealthy").  Eyes were stinging today. Going to have top pull the fans out of the window and close it to keep the smoke smell from getting in which will make for an unbearable night as it's still in the upper 80s at 22:35.

Tomorrow's high  is supposed to be 103° with the oppressive smoke in the air.  There are several new small to medium sized fires but the bulk of the smoke is coming from the Dixie Antelope, and Monument Fires in Northern California.

I'd post pictures but phone cameras auto compensate so they  don't show the true colour. Will need to affix the skylight filter to the phone again to cancel the UV glare.

Complaint:  Went to doctor appointment today.  Now she want's me to get X-Rays of my foot.  Looking for TarsalTunnel Syndrome in the ankle causing electric shocklike bursts in my big toe. frown  I don't know how much an X-Ray will cost me but I'm sure the Hospital will make out like a bandit after the insurance pays out.indecision

Non-complaint:  After the doctor appointment, we went to the big fruitstand near there.  I was looking for "Yellow Watermelon".  They didn't have any a month ago, but today they had about a half dozen small ones left.  Unfortunately they were all overripe.  HOWEVER, I had asked the clerk to find me a good one.  After tapping and smelling each one quite professionally, he said, "all overripe".  But then he grabbed one dropped it in my hands and said "just take it".  So I did.  When I got home I started cutting it and when the knife hit the rind it almost exploded as the knife slipped through it.  Each slice behaved the same way, it was truely ripe.  And yes, it was overripe with the middle 2/3rd mealy, soggy, whitish and inedible, but the bit next to the rind was bright yellow, juicy, crunchy, super sweet, delightfully tasty and the price was certainly right.  Wonderful stuff yellow watermelon when you can get it.  Mmm... yum!yes  The edge trimmings filled a big cereal bowl and made enough for 2 or 3 snacks.  But I don't dare wait another day to eat it.  It too is ready to go mealy.  Gotta eat it quickly.  Yum.smiley

...one more 100°  day (I hope, though tomorrow is going to be close).  Smoke is quite a bit thicker today so even in the afternoon the sun is orange and the haze is a lot more noticeable even at ground level.  Also can notice the slight smell of burning wood.  Also high humids for here nearly 50%.  Forecast has also changed as well for next week as after a couple days of "normal" temps (low 80s) back up into the Mid 90s by week's end.

Mmm, watermelon sounds so good may check over at Safeway later (5$ Friday") to see if they have some cut pieces as I never finish a whole one before it goes bad.

Pretty much been buying Microwave stuff for dinners these lat few days as don't want to heat the place up anymore than it is.  Really don't care for overly pre processed foods but its that or making it even more unbearable by using the stove or oven. Take out where i live is ridiculous expensive as it is primarily a very "upscale" neighbourhood.  Really miss the old foodie cart pod I used to go to when I lived over on the other side or the river and as well as a nice little Thai curry joint in that neighbourhood as well (10.50$ for a big container of curry chicken with a healthy side of Jasmine rice - makes for two dinners).  At the cart pod there was one vendor who made 10" wood fired pizzas, and a sausage and mushroom one (my fave) was only 10$.  There was also a taco/burrito cart there which made massive (and very tasty) burritos for around 5$.  Sadly it wa shut down after I moved as teh owner of the property sold the plat f to a develper who built an apartment building on the site (of coruse unaffordable for the average working Joe).

It is also interesting that at the old postal distribution centre site across the intersection form me (which has been vacant for a couple years as a new one by the airport was opened), there are a bunch of food carts in storage there that came from a very popular pod in downtown.  The pod was shut down to make way for another 35 floor "upscale" apartment/condo tower as well. Crikey, if they opened a foodie cart pod here at the old postal centre site, they'd probably get a tonne of businesses, as well as it would be very convenient.

...once attended a summer party long ago when I was in college. was a hot day (in the 90s)  and after I got there someone brought out a big watermelon and sliced it up. It turned out it was infused with not Vodka, but with 151 rum.. Yeah, interesting times that evening.

One of the cat pages that I follow on FB has had to evacuate from the fires.

There was a shooting in my part of the world, too. It's certainly quietened those who've said something like, "Something like that will never happen here. It only happens in bigger cities".

With all of the gastritis that I've got, I haven't been able to take my asthma puffers. So the wheeze is starting to creep in.

Hopefully, the gastritis symptoms won't be so bad tonight. I'm feeling wiped out.

I hope those "bicarb balls" worked. AIthough it's a pity that I can't get one to sit in my stomach for a few hours, and absorb the awful smell/taste that the gastritis is giving me.

Complaint: My computer is starting to crap out on me. Non-complaint: A previous employer made me cash out a sizable chunk of dough I had forgotten about.

So there will be a nice new comp in my future. If I live long enough, anyway. wink

Complaint:  LED lighting RGB connectors.  What addled brain designed the 3 and 4 pin connectors used for RGB and ARGB connectors?  Hey, I've got an idea, let's design a plug that is nothing more than a thin wire 3mm long that just slides into a wimpy socket without any sort of catch mechanism to counteract the nearly zero friction of the pins in the socket.  Breathe on it slightly and it comes apart.  Jostle the computer a little and the RGB lights go wonky.angry

Solution:  Of course the solution is either glue or sticky tape, or a confusion of tiewraps hoping to hold the connectors together.  Ugly as all sin, but it works.frown

Million Dollar Idea:  How about a plastic shell gizmo that snaps around the RGB connector pair, securely holding them together?enlightened If I were into 3D printing I'd make a few.

...well didn't make it to 100° yesterday, most likely because of all the smoke in the air which filtered the sunlight.   Today smoke a bit thicker than it was yesterday almost reminds me of old photos of Los Angeles, New York City and Chicago from the 60s when there was the smog issue.  Air quality still hanging at the upper range of "moderate" (one step below "unhealthy").

I used to like summer until these last 4 - 5 years. Never was this major of a fire situation since I moved here over three decades ago until recently.

No rendering until the  temperatures drop back to the normal for this time of year (which will be Monday & Tuesday).
