If a cat is in a box with an isotope, why can't anyone can hear her meowing to get out?

The box is airtight and made of lead so that the observers don't get exposed to radiation....though the "airtight" part of that takes some of the mystery out of whether or not the cat is alive.

What? The cat's not affected by radiation too?

And of course, this all depends on the dimensions of spacetime crossed.  The cat stays spacially relative to the lead box, but the cat and the box could be sent on a nearly light-speed trip and not be affected by the time dimension very much.  He might survive the "no air" situation, despite the original researchers having died of old age themselves long ago.  devil

Reality is weird.  I think I'll stay in the dream.enlightened

how is it outside today?  is it safe, or heatstroke weather?   my hair dried very fast this morning.

...mid 90s here and looks to finally drop down into the 80s starting tomorrow (upper 70s on Tuesday) and no return to broiling temps as the earlier extended forecast indicated (well, maybe I've seen that change before).  The one bad, we are under an air quality alert from all the smoke through tomorrow.

Smokesmoke annnd 102 temps here in my valley,  but neither affect me much at the moment since I'm indoors today anyway.  Tomorrow though, back to work and we spend most of it outdoors :/

Non-complaint:  Family portrait time.  Having recently finished upgrading baby-bear, the following images are the current state of my workbench area.

1st photo: It's a "U" shaped area with baby-bear("Mimas") in the foreground in the 1st photo.  Momma-bear("Janus") just behind baby-bear on the left-hand stem of the "U".  Then the secondary 1080-HD monitor & keyboard(s) for (Mimas, Janus, and Nox), then the bank of external 3.5" hard drives.   Between the two banks of external drives is the 4-port KVM switch for the big monitor. The white platform with 5 buttons on it, under three of the hard drives, is a power panel for some of the hard drives that don't have a power switch.  Baby-bear has only just graduated and is still looking for a job.

Momma-bear and baby-bear now have their RGB lights trained to present a static field of blue with the two memory chip's RGB lights displaying a simple pulse of blue flowing down on one, and simple pulse of green flowing up on the other.  Momma-bear has a GTX-1660 graphics card.  I use momma-bear for photoshop & what simple video work I do.  The RAM memories are Corsair VengeancePro and I use the Corsair "iCUE" control software for all the lighting in the case.

Note:  underneath baby-bear is "George".  George is currently on sabatical and unconnected (baby-bear took some of his connections).  I only engage with "George" when it's time for a Win10 upgrade, he's kinda slow.  The other members of the family not in these photos are "Atlas" (even slower than "George") upstairs in my bedroom, and two unnamed nearly 20 year old Dell Dimension desktops that run XP, stacked in a corner, which I pull out and use for playing old games if necessary.

4th photo: At the head of the "U" is Grampa-bear("Nox") and the 27 inch 1440-2K monitor.  Grampa-bear "Nox" is retired but has retained all his skills and some of his stored information.  I only wake him up to ask him questions about the old days.

7th photo: And in the last couple of photos looking at the right-hand stem of the "U", is finally papa-bear("Saturn") under the desk and his secondary 1080-HD monitor and direct keyboard & mouse on top.  Also, under the top shelf is "Epimethius" my 12 year old laptop.  Papa-bear has ARGB lights for the fans, but no window to see the lighted logo on the RTX-3060 graphics card.  (*Sigh, wasted photons.sad*)  I use papa-bear for DAZing and complex video stuff.

And finally, at the right end of the last photo is the black backside of my TV, video recorder, Blu-ray player, and media cabinet.

    ...nice setup.

I only have two desktops: Big Sister and Little Sister (named more for the physical size of the case and age) as well as two functional notebooks (Little One #1 [my soon to be 14 year old  Toshiba that I first started Dazzing on in 2008] and Little One #2 [a W7 Pro notebook I picked up for my role play game sessions that has an SSD instead of HDD and 8 GB memory]).

Also have a couple dead notebooks One is an old XP Pro Dell Latitude that suffered a full drive failure, and an other a WIN 98 Toshiba Techron (that during one role play game session accidentally had a taste of a fine Fume Blanc). The drive on the latter one (a whopping 2 GB) is still intact as it was modular (it contains early manuscript drafts for a couple stories and my European cyber world role play campaign). Tehcron's were pretty rugged and that one was the heaviest of all four.  Need to figure out how to connect it up so I can transfer the data off it.

In 1935, Erwin Schrödinger came up with the idea for a cat that is both alive and dead at the same time. It was meant to suggest the duality of conditions that can co-exist in quantum physics.

Given that Schrödinger wrote about the cat 86 years ago and domestic cats live about 10-15 years indoors, Schrödinger's cat is indeed, quite dead.

....non complaint.  Finally the heat wave has ended  as well as all the smoke is gone thanks to a change in the wind direction.  Can finally look forward to a good night's sleep again not feeling like I'm swimming in sweat.  Due to the heat and the fire smoke I couldn't use my window fans except in exhaust mode to try and pull some of the warm stuffy air out.

All next week calls for temperatures in the upper 70s and to low 80s, will be refreshing after 22 days this year of 90° or above (5 of which were above 100° three which set new a record each day).  Still no wet stuff for the next couple weeks so the fire danger is still ever present but a nice onshore flow through at least the next 10 days will keep the smoke away.

coughing so much.  cant catch my breath to mke my phone calls.

waiting for my bus pass renewal.  dunno why they make us renew it.  not like the disabled is gonna miraculousely get better.  its just torture.  they make us get passport pictures.  dr has to mail in the form, they wont accept fax.

trying tto make an appt with disability office.  it puts me on hold a long time, then drops the call,
for some reason, bless em, my job isnt dumping me, tho its very obvious i cant do my job.  i cant get unemployment if they dont dump me.  i started there in 2003.  so many of the people who were my co workers thru the years have retired.  a few have passed away.  its really said when i find one their old packing slips.  find inventory with their names on the boxes.

my pet project for the last 17 years is a barcode inventory system.  the manager that was onboard with my project retired.

...all I can say is be persistent. Staffing shortages have made the wait time long for calls.  I would suggest going to an SS office in person, It may take a good part of the day to be seen but your not wasting time sitting around next to the phone listening to informational loops and cheesy background music.

It took me three years to finally be certified. If you can get an advocate do so.  Usually they don't charge up front but only take as small percentage once you are certified.    After having my claim rejected twice, I got an advocate and was successful (still working on the retroactive part which can take years).

Thanks, that's actually an app on my iPad... Nomad Sculpt... I think it was $15... between that, Sculptura, Forger, and Putty, an iPad is actually worth having now.

Nomad Sculpt even has a per pixel painting feature... it's mesh resolution dependent and I haven't really messed with it much, plus I'm still trying to figure out how to import a painted .glb model into Blender, because apparently you can convert that painted mesh into a UV map somehow... I think... it's pretty confusing.

Supposedly Nomad Sculpt's programmer is working on a UV unwrapping feature... which I'm really psyched for... UV unwrapping on an iPad... that's cool.

Good luck with your power situation... I hope you don't lose power, and if you do, I hopes it's only for a short while.

Why does the iPad Air use usb c cord instead of lighting cord?  Maybe I can go to Walmart tomorrow to get some usb c cables?

Allegedly to hook it up more easily to accessories like cameras, musical devices, auxiliary monitors or auxiliary storage devices... hopefully they'll stick to that for a while and don't introduce a new proprietary USB C variant or something crazy like that... to "improve your Apple experience".

Also USB C can handle more power, allows for faster charging and data transmission, and generally is cheaper.

I don't know if this had anything to do with the change, but USB C also uses the same connector as Thunderbolt 3.

I was only aware of the Thunderbolt II, or A-10 Warthog... I thought those used a 30 pin Dock connector... also I probably need sleep.

Apparently Amazon remade Cinderalla as a jukebox musical. I don't think I could possibly be less interested in anything.
