One very big differece is, with a credit card, you have fraud protection.   With a debit card, you usually don't.  And a smart crook can drain your account.  I'd say that's a very important difference.  Especially when buying things online.  I use PayPal online as often as possible.

I tend to change my passwords every so often but that is more because I forgot the old ones.

    But worse.

EDIT... You probably can't tell, but that's some sort of angry stomach monster... like those weird little ointment commercial mascots... only crappier and depicting gastritis instead of toenail fungus.

Good news is I found a way to get a tea sampler set.  Bad news is that there is only enough tea in each of the bags in the sampler for one cup.

Samplers are a waste of money Imo. I need more than 1 cup to get an idea of if I want it or if I'll get tired of it quickly. Once I find something I like I tend to buy it by the pound. I go through it quickly. I drink a lot of tea. I use to be a coffee drinker and it started messing with my stomach so I switched to tea and haven't had a problem sense. I bought an electric kettle and a French press and the combo of the two makes great tea. The electric kettle boils water in around 3-4 minutes so no messing with the stove for 15 minutes.

Non complaint; At half a century plus seven years, my stomach has still not started complaining about having a mug of coffee every thirty minutes. smiley

Started chain-drinking coffee after they banned smoking in the office back in -95

  • frank0314frank0314 Posts: 14,264

I use to drink 2-3 pots a day. I've always had stomach problems since I was a teen. Coffee just started to give me acid reflux real bad causing my stomach to get upset. Tea doesn't seem to bother me. I would drink 2 pots a coffee when I was at the police department working afternoons and midnights after coming off a long shift at the factory welding.

Hmmm... "-95"  is that the same as 95BC or 95BCE?

And people here (Finland) are complaining about 210 days x 8 hours of work per year...

True but I was able to extend the sampler pack into a full pitcher of ice tea.

Thanks for asking, yes I'm wondering how this will turn out... considering the last two summer storms actually did more damage to my property than both Sandy and Irene, I have no idea what will happen...

    I've already gotten a warning...

So far the Bay is just a little choppy... I haven't gone out to Fire Island to check out the Atlantic side yet... my daughters are there with friends right now, so I'm sure I'll get some pictures later...

The Great South Bay at the moment...

The iPhone's lens make everything seem so distant... on the right is a dredging barge just in front of the bridge... it looks tiny, but it's actually only about a 1/4 mile away... I'm going to use that as a gauge of how bad the storm is...

If it sinks it was bad.

I went around taking pictures of some of the areas around here to compare after the storm... during Sandy there was some flooding nearby and within a few blocks from the water, but I'm on high ground... which on the south shore of Long Island is not all that much, but I'm usually out of the flood zone.

I just realized I have to go fill up my gas tanks for the generator.

I should probably do that soon, tomorrow I'll be moving stuff around and securing stuff for the storm.

    Blah... stupid hurricanes.

I put pieces of a banana end into my aquarium.  Now trying to figure out how to get those pieces out.  One slight problem is that the pieces are disappearing while I think.   I can't find most of the pieces last time I checked.

According to my local news station, the storm is supposed to pass 50-100 miles off of Montauk Point (the far East tip of LI), so if that's true, hopefully that's less disturbing, but there is still a hurricane warning...  Whatever... they seem more jazzed about a butter statue some kids made.

In the meantime, I just got an automated message from my insurance company (which I've never gotten before) telling me to board up my windows and expect power outages and only turn to cannibalism when absolutely necessary.

A little late for that last one.

Oh well... but seriously, there is no happy middle ground is there?

Some bananas are naturally aquatic... I photographed this one swimming upstream to spawn in Pennsylvania...

I believe it's the Common Easter Blotchy River Banana (Riverus Bananacus), which have recently been removed from the endangered species list despite being very tasty and fairly easy to catch.

No, unfortunately for DAZ most of the images I have online are located in the "An OT Thread For Images" and some others are at Hivewire3D in the "Today's Weather Where You Are Thread?"... that one has a bunch of beach and water images, there are probably a couple of nice sunset over tge water images in those...

If you want a headache and to question reality, you could look through my posted images on the "An OT Thread For Images"...

    https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/59113/an-ot-thread-for-images/p1

    The Hivewire3D one is here...

    https://community.hivewire3d.com/threads/todays-weather-where-you-live.2193/

95% of the photos I post are my own, usually if it's not mine it's a lower resolution or some sort of comparison image... so if you see an watery image or some outdoor photo you find interesting, feel free to use it for whatever you like... except printing out, stapling to a bat and using the bat to club baby seals... unless they started the fight first, then in that case, give them hell... But unarmed baby seal clubbing seems kinda morally wrong or something... I guess you could go clubbing with a baby seal, and that would be ok, but you'd probably need proper ID for most clubs and discos anyway.

    Are discos still a thing?

    Geez, I hope not.

Non-Complaint  (We could use more of those tbh,  think about only the bad things and it drags you down, and then you being down drags everyone else down... Can still find things to be happy about even during hard times right?)  but PayPal sent me an email saying that they're refunding me for a PayIn4 payment since "It already was paid for".  I swear that the automated one didn't go through yet, but hey that's nice to know.  Also Cinema 4D alerting me to the renewal date two weeks in advance is nice, I like that they don't wait until hours before it happens or worse not telling you at all.

My plush dragons and dinosaurs are soft as ever, and a new one will be coming I thiiiink October?  Was a pre-order, though I can't remember if they said September or October. New book to read + game to play in October too wheee

Yes, non complaints are very good... I've thought of starting my own thread maybe on the Art Studio where I'd post lots of dumb images and dumb stories to cheer people up when they are feeling down... nothing specific just lots of random nonsense like I normally am prone to... then I realized I'm not all that funny and my sense of humor borders on rather morose much of the time, so I'm not sure that's a great idea.

But definitely we need more feel good stuff in this stupid world.

See... I said a good thing but capped it off with an insult to this stupid world... see... I did it again.

Well, congrats on your new stuff and good news.

I'm not liking those storm paths... they are aren't what I was hoping for... basically most of them are heading through my area...

Do you have some better looking ones?

Something where it goes out to sea completely and doesn't make landfall?

    No?

    Crap.

Also... if this goes through my area it's heading up to Massachusetts where DanaTA is... I hope he's gonna be okay too.

    And Misty too... Be safe.

My kids showed me that on a TikTok... pretty bizarre sound... When I was very little, my step grandfather had a pet store, he liked exotic birds a lot and he had one that when it got excited, it made a sound like a bell or metallic "clang"... it was weird... I don't even remember what it looked like really, but the sound was freaky because it didn't look like it should be coming from that bird.
Still, wasn't as freaky as picking up a three foot long armored catfish that hissed and vibrated... I thought I got an electric shock... I would have probably dropped it if I hadn't been warned they do that first.
The first time I saw a Madagascar Cockroach, nobody told me they hiss... I was like WHATTHEACTUALFUGGISTHAT??!!... I pulled my hand back so fast I must have broken the sound barrier...

I find it unsettling when animals don't understand what sounds they are supposed to make or that they are fish and fish don't make sounds.
